"Cute Berkshire Hotel"
Nice setting, comfortable beds. Helpful staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was redone recently, so the rooms were nice- only complaints were that you could hear all the hallway noise and need a car to get anywhere from thereGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely! Comfy. Come see!"
Watched geese taking off in groups over breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
Have to start with the greeting at the front desk by a young woman who had extensive knowledge of the hotel and area. The hotel has recently completed an extensive remodel. Our room was nicely appointed and very comfortable with the exception of a waterfall noise effect whenever the toilet flushed upstairs. Not overly disturbing, but there nonetheless. […] The autumn foliage around the lake out back was stunning. I wish we had more time available to just sit on the deck and watch the geese swim by. Absolutely must mention the Indian restaurant in the hotel. The food was well prepared, had a nice depth of flavor without being overly spicy. And the service there was wonderful as well. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice hotel on the edge of the lake"
We selected this hotel because of its location and proximity to hiking areas during this fall foliage season. I read some reviews and did note that there was a change in ownership and management. The room was very comfortable, well taken care and clean. I loved the water view and lakeside public beaches were within walking distance. The staff was very […] friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it highly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Excellent place to relax for a few days and to enjoy the activities in the area. It has a picturesque location and an outstanding staff. The Bombay restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten in anywhere in the world.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not Fully Thought Out"
The Black Swan Inn is very well situated at the foot of a pretty lake just north of the center of Lee MA. When we arrived, we were sent to a room that was not made up, a fate we shared with at least one other group arriving at the same time. The check-in procedure was more time-consuming than usual. The room we eventually got was clean enough, but the […] furnishings were rather small, leaving not quite enough place to put the usual pocket junk and electronics for charging. The light in out bathroom did not work. The breakfast room is the same as the Indian restaurant at the hotel, and was thoroughly permeated with Indian spices. While I like Indian food, this is not what I really wanted at breakfast. Once seated for breakfast, I found the offerings really poor and scant, and we left to get breakfast at the excellent local Joe's Diner. At the diner we encountered two other people we had seen at the hotel. All in all, I got a good night's sleep, but it felt like I was staying in someone's neglected guest room. "very nice renovation, lovely place"
this place has been renovated recently and it shows. the style is still a little old but the room was clean, and the bed very comfortable. the Bath was also very clean, just old style. the breakfast is simple/continental but with amazing views on the lake. the staff is extremely nice and helpful. I would stay here again. if you can, get a room on the […] lake side. free parking and WiFi Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel on Laurel lake"
Nice and clean, good Indian Rest on site, decent breakfast. The gym left a lot to be desired. Looks like they are trying to spruce up the outdoor area. Nice rooms overlooking the lake with small balcony. All in all very plesant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"needs a good refurb"
Not a B and B..just a motel with a very average do it yourself breakfast so overpriced for what it is. Broken down old pool covered in and rough recent timber work on balconies. it was disapointing compared to other b and b,s we stayed at. Good Indian restaurant on site.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great staff. Fantastic new renovation. The room still smelled new. A terrific value.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel with a view of a lake"
I will go back again next year. This place in under new management and they are making a number of improvements. The beds have been replaced and are great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Tanglewood."
The rooms were great, brand new. The lake view was great. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was aweful. You simply cannot serve food on styrofoam, very tacky! The food quality was bad. The 10 slices of bacon for 20 guests at 9 am was poor planning. The meat sticks " sausage" was inedible. Two brown bananas and […] one bagel was my other choice. I dont expect a incredible breakfast selection but I do expect what is put out to be edible and presented well and clean. Go to the nearest breakfast place and for go the "Continental Breakfast" One last comment please clean up the pool area. You can see it from the restaurant. Old dirty blue tarps covering some sort of boats held down with old car tires. This is simple maintenance that any staff member could clean up. I would not want guests at my house to see this in my backyard and I dont charge them to stay there. I know this property is a work in progress but some simple low cost work could of improved the pool area and the presentation and quality of the food. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good modern hotel close to the lake beach"
We stayed 1 nt for visiting Tanglewood and are very pleased with the hotel convenience, amenities and friendliness of staff. The breakfast was adequate - bagels, pastries, bacon, coffee etc. We would like to stay next time but a bit expensive for our budget if more than 1 nt (as most in this area, maybe farther away is possible to find cheaper, not […] sure). We would recommend it to our friends. Although it's on the waterfront, you have to walk 1/4 ml to a residents' beach accessible with your room key. On the other hand, Lenox town beach is nearby, open to everybody. We liked the Indian restaurant in the same building where we had dinner before the night concert in Tanglewood. The hotel is an older building, but in good shape and well kept. Restaurant seemed busy in the evening, I can't say anything about it as i did not go. Parking lot was still big enough.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It was OK"
I've stayed at seven hotels while touring and by the time I added the Lake view premium on, this worked out at the most expensive. And I'd say it was the worst. Yes, the Lake view was lovely, but I paid extra for that. Everything else was average. No pool. No Gym. Very limited Breakfast selection. Drab and tired decor. Well out of town. Nothing that […] I can find to be overly complimentary about. We were going to take a kayak out, but I thought their prices for that were over the top, so we didn't bother. I think others thought the same as none of the boats moved in the two days we were there. The one thing that wound me up, was the begging letter from the cleaner, especially as the cleanliness wasn't brilliant. The chairs and table on the balcony were too filthy to use. "Lakeside motel on outskirts of Lee"
Long two story motel beside a lake on the edge of Lee town. The main road is very busy with a lot of heavy goods vehicles passing but the noise was not too intrusive. Room was good size and clean and comfortable. Small lawn beside the lake made a nice location to sit with a drink. Reception staff were very helpful and advised the best eating places […] and hiking locations. Nice breakfast area with bread, cereals, juice hard boiled eggs and bagels, muffins etc. Would happily stay there again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Black Swan Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed/informative review about our property. We appreciate when our guests take time out of their lives to tell us how we are doing. I am glad that you enjoyed your visit to the Berkshires, we hope to see you again soon.
"Sharp, ReFurbished, Polite and Friendly"
We arrived late and they were waiting for us. The staff was waiting and greeted us after a long drive. The rooms have just been all redone and are excellent - standard but clean, fresh and the beds are comfortable and sheets perfect. The pillows are those new small square pillows which make no sense to me to be honest - but they work!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy access to Tanglewood"
Stayed one night in hotel. Clean but dated. Terrible coffee. Nice, helpful staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It was okay for one night"
The hotel was okay for one night. I found the double beds very small (not queensize at all). We quite had to squeeze into the beds. I was constantely afraid that my small kids would fall off. The other thing that disturbed me was the help at the breakfast room. She apparently didn't like to do her job. She was generally very inattentive. She couldn't […] really care to fill up the food nor did she clean the tables after people left and it took a very long time until she fixed the broken coffee machine. But she was very quick to tell you at 10 am that the breakfast room would close... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quelle jolie surprise"

I can't say enough nice things about the Black Swan Inn and its staff, especially Kara (sp)!! We came up for the first weekend in December to spend some time in Stockbridge at the Christmas festivities happening that weekend. Friday night, the staff let us know where some spots were for night life. While the weather was drizzly and then snowy, we didn't stay out long at all. Once we got back to the hotel we were relaxing in our room when the power went out. Nothing the hotel could help as a transformer blew in Lee. Luckily, the hotel gets some power from Lenox also, so we got moved to a nice room with power, however we had to wait for the heat to come back on. It was only a couple of hours and all was right again. Kara totally handled herself professionally and made the best of the situation. The rest of the weekend was totally wonderful! The restaurant in the building, Bombay, although not affiliated with the Black Swan, was also excellent!!! I am looking forward to spending another weekend there in the summer/fall time frame as it would be so beautiful overlooking the lake.

What a lovely place. Small and right on a lake. The Assistant Manager, Robert, was fantastic. Nice room on first floor overlooking the water. Very comfortable beds. Free breakfast with fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, coffee etc. Warm, cozy and highly recommended!
"Good place to stay"

For the price, I was pleased with this hotel. Had a voucher for the weekend with a bottle of wine for $200. The room is spacious and clean. The outside the bathroom vanity counter I liked very much. The Jacuzzi bath tub was heaven. My only complaint was that the fireplace didn't work. The hotel staff was terrific. The continental breakfast was adequate - Not spectacular.
"The Black Swan was an unexpected suprise"
11/18/14 Eydie S Secaucus, New Jersey, United States
We never stay in Lee and decided to for this trip. The hotel was undergoing renovation. The rooms were done and we found the new product to be comfortable and clean. The bathrooms need attention which I sure will be part of the on going renovation. We took a second floor room and enjoyed mornings and early evenings on our deck. During our visit in September the owners were residing the exterior of the building. Form what we could tell the end result will be a great improvement. The breakfast room was not very nice. But that area as well will be renovated. The staff was friendly and helpful. If someone is looking for an comfortable place to stay that is clean, well priced, has a good location and enjoys sitting on a deck overlooking the lake your search has ended. The Black Swam is a diamond in the rough and worth a visit.

We stayed overnight and opted to have the more expensive lakeview room with 2 queen beds. The room was slightly smaller than usual, but not cramped although there were not quite enough places to sit. The sink was outside the bathroom which is convenient when multiple people are trying to get ready at the same time. The view of the lake was beautiful and so serene with a balcony. Keurig comes equipped with Starbucks Pike Peak. Staff was accommodating and pleasant. The Indian restaurant on the premises was excellent.
"Beautiful views, great room"
11/03/14 Mary B Fort Collins, Colorado
We drove into parking lot after dark, and it looked kind of run down. But, hostess was very, very nice and room was great. She recommended restaurant on site, even though not part of hotel. Great food, but had to wait because they were very busy. Well worth it. In the morning we saw the view from the large dining area, and it was spectacular. Loved it. Would recommend.
"Attention To Detail"
I rated this hotel a 5 because it surpasses my expectations on many fronts: Check-in was quick and smooth. I asked to be changed to a lake view room and it was done in 20 seconds.... upgrade increase was very reasonable. Room: Clean and comfortable beds. Coffee maker seemed new, balcony was very nice. Bathroom: Sink was separate from toilet and shower, which is quite convenient. Plenty of thick towels; water pressure was very good and shower head was brand new and of high quality. We did not get a chance to dine in restaurant but when I wanted a couple of glasses of wine to bring back to the room... The waiter accommodated me immediately. My suggestion to management is: please keep up the good work and attention to detail.... Consistency will be key.
"Stayed at Black Swan for the 1st time...on our way home!"
10/27/14 Laurie H Hartford, Connecticut
When we 1st arrived we were somewhat unsure if we were @ the right place. The parking lot has poor lighting (This is Black part of the name of the Inn).It was dismal looking. The exterior building needs major enhancements. However, when we walked inside (The Swan appeared) To our surprise it was very inviting and beautiful. The lake room view was recently renovated and beautiful.Keureg coffee machine in the room is awesome! Kara was welcoming and very professional. First impression means a lot yet. I observed that the uniform she was wearing (polo shirt) is to casual for Inn and It doesn't fit the atmosphere of the Inn. I like the coffee/water selection in the lobby. The room with a lake view is lovely. If you plan on making more renovations then I suggest you don't drag it on if at all possible.Because we want to come back! Kara gave us an adjusted rate to a room over looking the lake. She went the extra mile to make sure We were happy with our stay. Thank-you!
"First class hotel - rustic yet elegant"
10/17/14 William J New York City, New York
One of the best Choice Hotels I have ever stayed in. The young lady at the front desk was cheerful and efficient. My 2nd floor King Suite was excellent; jacuzzi tub in marble, granite counter-top at sink area, gas fireplace, very comfortable bed. Room had a (not private but large) wooden deck with chairs. Room was perfectly clean, large new TV. Great attention to all details - right down to the in-room Starbucks coffee! Excellent value for the price. About 10 minutes north of Mass Pike in foothills of Berkshire Mountains. ONLY downside was that the town are of Lee is somewhat of a long walk on busy road. Highly recommend this hotel.
"Still the best in the Berkshires"
10/15/14 robinhall44 Westerly
This hotel has been upgraded as of two summers ago. We stayed for 3 nights on Columbus Day weekend and this is our 5th straight year staying here. Check-in was smooth and friendly. Our room request was accommodated. Rob and Christine were awesome. This was probably the busiest weekend of the year. We loved the color tones of the room, the bed is so comfortable, the bathroom and shower laid out impeccably. We had a lakeside room which is a must and the view is stunning!, the Best in the Berkshires. The only cons would be my wife had to dust off some of the furniture and there were cobwebs on the outside rails. Of course I didn't really notice the dust. Housekeeping during our stay was top notch. Everything is so convenient, I don't know why anyone would stay anywhere else. As far as the breakfast, we only ate the last day, in the new lakeside room. There was no hot water for tea or oatmeal. It really should be upgraded. Not enough attention was paid. This is something that can be improved. However, I reiterate, this place is absolutely the best in the Berkshires. We will be back next year. And Thank You also to Paul. You guys are fantastic.
