Room and amenities were fine. On a Saturday we left the room at 8:30am, returned at 3:30pm to find the room not made up. Too much staff cutting. Also, bathroom lights were "all or nothing", so that if you needed to use the bathroom at night (many of us do) you could turn all the lights on or fumble in the dark. We persuaded the manager to install a night light, which he did. Self-park and valet park are very expensive. You may not see this info until after you've booked. Nice free downstairs coffee in the morning, but you have to get dressed to go down for it. With all the other in-room amenities, why no coffee pot?

Reserved room for anniversary trip, thinking the king room was what I reserved. Get there and we are put into a double. No huge deal, but not what I wanted. The heating made noise every time it kicked on, making it difficult to sleep in. Just not what I was expecting from a hotel everyone else what rating so high. It was fine, but not anywhere near as nice as the 4.5 star most people were giving it. The bathroom was spacious, which is always nice for a hotel, but that was about the best thing I can say.

Reviewed by Al of Pasadena on Nov 28, 2009
I came to Chicago last week on business and pleasure. Due to an FAA glitch I had been either in the air, on the tarmac, or in an airport for 24 hours and I was irritable. When I arrive at the Conrad--the grouchiness all melted away! The check in was fast and pleasant--the woman at the counter was very attentive. My room was well appointed and large. I especially like the full-size bathtub which was actually comfortable to lie down in and relax. The tub filled up very quickly and I had hot water quickly (you'd be surprised many places are slow to produce hot water!) Not having visited Chicago before, the concierge service was impeccable, providing me with detailed instructions and maps to where I needed to go. Also, conducting a business meeting there was a breeze. They have a biz meeting room on floor 8, but also the bar is a great place to socialize for business. The restaurant was excellent, with great service and food. Room service was a god-send, and my warm apple pie late at night was delicious (especially when eaten in the tub!) But perhaps the best thing about the Conrad, which other hotels cannot easily match is the location. Located in downtown Chicago, attached to an upscale mall, and steps from Michigan Ave., the Conrad is central to everything.

Very disappointing service, esp. for a Hilton hotel. No one greeted us at the door and the front desk was not staffed. We had to figure out to take an elevator to find check-in. Check-in was slow and not at all welcoming. Concierge was downright rude and not at all helpful. Awesome location, but would not go back. Choose a different North Michigan Ave hotel! All we've tried are much better than this one.

I stayed in the Conrad Hotel for 4 nights at the start of September and the previous good reviews I read did not disappoint me. The reception area was lovely. After our flight was delayed and we finally arrived in the hotel, it was nice to be greeted by such lovely staff. We stayed in a beautiul & spacious room with 2 double beds and a nice big bathroom. On a whole I cannot fault the hotel - though the room service charges are a little steep. The hotel was in a perfect location - just of the Magnificent Mile. All in all - loved the city, loved the hotel and will definitely be back!

We have spent many nights at hotels all over the world and this has to set the bar for excellence in every way. The location was absolutely perfect for catching the L Train to Wrigley Field for the ballgame to shopping in the outstanding Nordstrom Mall which lies below the hotel. The Navy Pier with eateries and toour boats is only a fifteen minute walk away. In the evenings in the hotel, there is complimentary wine, the guest rooms are elegant with a giant flat screen HD television, and the staff bends over backward to be helpful and friendly. I would say this is one of the most excellent stays we have had at any hotel anywhere in our travels.
