This is one of those hotels a little off the beaten path yet close enough to everything a tourist may need. The staff were all very attentive, good natured and helpful. As with […] many city hotels in Europe there will be guests who returning to the hotel late may be a little loud and sit outside on the deck, patio or cafe area and talk into the night. The newer windows installed in the hotel took care of that. The breakfast was very good, fresh fruit juice, coffee, tea hot chocolate, yogurt, eggs, meats, cheeses, veggies, cereal, breads and pastries and served at reasonable hours in the morning. We had to leave early our last day and the staff suggested that they put together a sandwich and fruit for us. This was ready when we left at 5:30 AM to catch the train out of town. Internet was available art the front desk. You had to wait a few minutes for the staff to get it going, but it worked fine for our use and the charge was minimal. We were sleeping on sheets that were so worn out they could stay on the mattresses. I watched patrons eating bread,butter and sugar because the breakfast was so scarce. By no means should this hotel be rated as a 4 stars. I felt that I was in a third world country staying at this hotel. I would recommend this hotel to others if you are willing to stay 2 bus stops from the Pest side of the city...Frank at the front desk was extremely knowledgeable on all forms of transport and Budapest's (or for that matter Hungary) history. The staff were extremely gracious, warm, welcoming and most helpful with every detail and need from the very beginning until the morning we left. Our room was cleaned well every day, and the buffet breakfasts were a delicious bonus with fresh pastries, eggs, bread and other treats.

We loved Hotel Buda. It was small but we were treated very special. They provided breakfast every morning, even packed a breakfast for us when we were leaving early. We arrived mid-evening after dinner and the host warmly welcomed us with tea and fruit on the hotel's patio. We had a triple room which was small but adequate. We misunderstood that the room had a/c and because it was quite warm we needed the window open, but as our room was located just above a busy street it was very noisy. The staff were very helpful in suggesting tours of Budapest, giving directions and providing local bus tickets to purchase. A safe at the front desk is available for a small fee. The hotel is conveniently located a couple blocks from a bus stop that takes you across the bridge over the Danube River to the Pest side and a pick-up location for the Hop-On, Hop-Off Bus Tour (use the "red" bus service--it includes a boat ride). However, of three three nights they managed to give us a double room by doing one night in one of their appartments and the second two in a nicer room than we had booked. The Gold Hotel Buda is a small hotel on the Buda side of the river. Close to a bus-stop, it is a quick ride into the city. Even though we arrived early, after paying a small fee we were able to check in without any problems. We selected this hotel due to its proximity to Old Buda's city and downtown region and we were not disappointed. The hotel was clean and buzzing with activity as this was Hungary's Formula 1 weekend. Our room was located in an adjacent building which was partly owned by private residences as well as the hotel. We were escorted to our room by the hotel […] staff and shown our room. There was no elevator in this second building and moving four heavy pieces of luggage without help from the front desk was not appreciated. Breakfast was nice as it represented a typical European Continental style breakfast and our kids enjoyed all aspects of it. Our hotel room (apartment style) was large and comfortable as it had beds for each child and a queen size bed for us. The carpets however did look a little used and worn and although may have been cleaned, can probably be changed as well. The kitchen had all the basic essentials to cook with, eat from and wash everything. Using a natural gas stove was challenging and using a lighter versus matches would have made life easier - but all worked out in the end. Toilet and washroom was clean however a shower curtain would have been appreciated. There were enough towels (but no face cloths) for all of us. Free WIFI access was a tremendous bonus as we made use of it every night with our net-book laptop and blackberry phone. At checkout, we had to pay for the parking and the Tourist tax imposed by the City of Budapest. The bill was not printed after I paid and the clerk at the front desk seemed startled when I asked for one. He later produced one and handed it to us as we were taking pictures in front of the Hotel. there is a bus station about few min walk from the hotel. the hotel's restaurant is only open for breakfast. breakfast is nice btw. but there is a 24 hrs conveninet shop right next to the hotel. hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. overall it was a really nice stay in budapest.

It was a good hotel but was not pleased in the final bill to settle. (reason being on the few first day the receptionist recommeded taxi service and we accepeted to go to our destination but latter found out they had charged us three times the normal rates. Hotel was ok, although there was no bars in the surrounding area. When we got our room it had twin beds that were at the opposite ends of the room. We asked reception if they had a double room and they gave us a room that had twin beds next to one another. Der er god service fra personalet, og lejligheden er meget pæn og ren. ok plads til familie på 2 voksne og 3 børn. Nem adgang til offentlig transport og seværdigheder. Receptionisten glemte dog at fortælle os at man skal betale turist afgift KONTANT ved afrejsen, hvilket var meget besværligt da vi skulle rejse hjem kl. 5 om morgenen og alle kontanter […] var brugt.
