"Great choice!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Price and location were right. Grounds and maintainance inside and out were above average....flowers blooming everywhere! Front desk friendly and efficient. Room spacious and well appointed with 2 Q beds and new, big, flat screen TV (room 301). Towels were not lush, but there were 4 of them, so no issues!

"Good mid-price choice"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This is a good choice if North Vancouver is your destination. Lots of shopping and eating in the market below the hotel, which is also where the parking is located. The more upscale and higher priced rooms get you further out towards the water, which can be worth it in terms of quiet and view.
"2 nights in Vancouver."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Hotel was very clean and new. Hotel is in middle of Chinatown so you won't see many chain restaurants or food other than very traditional Asian.

"Service was good but not god neighborhood."
Reception desk person was very nice. When we requested early check-in, she went upstairs to check by herself and then let us do it. She gave us the map of Vancouver and all the sites and way to get there- bus numbers, stations, costs and so on. She was so friendly. However, the hotel is old and in somewhat dangerous area. It's in Chinatown where so […] many homeless people dwell on. Whenever I get on the bus, I was surrounded by dirty people a bit threatening. When I was walking to Gas Town from the hotel, I saw police officers catching them selling cigar (maybe drugs?). That was scary. Moreover, you can here almost every sound from the aisle... and there's no hair dryer in the room. If you want, you can borrow one from the reception without extra charge. Overall, I was satisfied with service but its location and surroundings scared me a lot. Oh, there's a pub on the first floor of the hotel. I didn't go there, but it seems nice. Read more

"great despite the area"
hotel patricia is in the heart of east hastings so the area is "colorful" but despite the area i was very pleased with how clean the hotel was. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the decor in the hotel was very 40's and nice. For the price this hotel is WELL worth every penny! very impressed!

good value, good price, not the greatest neighbourhood. Great if you're on a low budget.
"horrible hole in the wall"
Hotel smelled like cigar, the bed smelled and the room was as small as the bed. Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The surrounding area is questionable, prostitutes, homeless people everywhere. Very dirty and old!!! Do not I repeat do not stay here even if you are on a budget!
"Bad hotel / bad location"
One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in and I am used to roughing it to save a few bucks. Really awful place to stay.
"Beware hastings st."
We walked there from the port and any st. but Hastings would be better. Vancouver is way too tolerant of drug addicts, alcoholics, and loitering and Hastings is downright scarry in the daytime. At least we got there safely and back on another st.
"you'll regret it"
This hotel is clean, but that's about all one can say to recommend it. It's obvious that the hotel used to be a smoking hotel, because even though it's wholly nonsmoking now the room still has a stale smoke smell. The bathroom door, which operates like a folding closet door, makes a big noise every time you move it; we had to keep our tiny window open […] all night to get fresh air. Our car was broken into in the parking lot; the rooms are tiny; the neighborhood can be pretty alarmingly full of recovering(?) addicts who attend the recovery centers nearby. It's not cheap enough to make up for feeling unsafe when you walk back to your hotel at night. Really -- you'll be happier at a hotel in a different part of town. Read more

"Drugs, Prostitutes, Drugs and Poverty"
If you want a vacation to the fringes of hell, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, pay the extra for a good hotel.
"The staff made it worth it..."
I am not inclined to write a poor review but this hotel was situated within a less than desirable neighborhood. We had concerns about leaving our rental car in the adjacent parking lot due to signs warning not to leave valuables inside. The room was the size of a shoe box...literally only large enough to hold a double-bed with one nightstand placed […] sideways to fit it in. Our room was in the center of the hotel where when we opened the window we could have handed a dinner plate to the room across the open 'courtyard'. There was more but you get the point. The staff, however, were just great. Kind and polite with helpful attitudes. Both upon check-in and check-out they readily answered our questions and assisted us with our needs. I appreciate their help very much. Read more
THE HOTEL WAS NOT BAD AT ALL, A LITTLE OLD BUT VERY WELL MAINTAINED, AND THE STAFF WAS GREAT. BUT THE AREA WAS AWEFUL, I WOULD DEFINETLY NOT STAY THERE AGAIN, HAD TO MAKE SURE WE WERE IN BEFORE DARK BECAUSE IT WAS A LITTLE FRIGHTENING AFTER DARK.

"Budget Inn Patricia in Vancouver - cheap, but okay"
As most of the other reviews have indicated - bad location, friendly staff, good deal. Rooms are old, but clean. The one piece of information I'll add is that the room was incredibly small! I certainly wasn't expecting anything big and fancy, but was still surprised at the smallness (the reason they have double beds is because a queen bed wouldn't fit […] in the room). I didn't see any unsavory activity within a block of the hotel, but for about a 6-block stretch a block away, it was pretty bad. I walked right through the worst part of it at about 2:30 in the morning, and was offered drugs at least 5 times (they just mumble "Rock... powder... weed..." as you walk by - nobody actually approached me). Just have your wits about you, be safe, and don't approach the hotel on Hastings street (use a parallel street and the crosstreet). The included breakfast was probably about a $5 value - certainly on the cheap, but definitely convenient to tide you over until you get up and out. I had a few problems getting on the Internet with my iPod on the 4th floor, but eventually got connected. The desk clerk was very friendly and knowledgeable and went out of his way to show me stuff on the map, where to go, what to do, etc. If you just need a cheap place to sleep, shower, and shave... then this'll do fine. "Really bad rooms and very difficult area"
"Hotel" really needs a complete renovation! Rooms are VERY small, smelly and very old furniture. Neighbourhood is the worst of whole Vancouver - lots of homeless people and drugs. Positive: Staff was very nice and it was the biggest Conti Breakfast we've had on our tour.
"Budget Inn Patricia - central location in a neighb"
Hotel Patricia was clean and well maintained. It is convenient to the old town area but is spot in the middle of a district overwhelmed with homeless and street people. While it didn't bother me as I have traveled the world extensively, the surrounds were such that my female companion refused to venture out to walk. In a word... colorful! A good value […] though as the room was clean and quiet, and the bed was comfortable... oh, did I mention that the size of the room (including the bathroom was about 11' square... chummy indeed, but adequate! "Hotel Patricia @ Vancouver - Not for single travel"
Neighborhood surrounding hotel is very questionable. Lots of drug activity and homeless people surrounding the street. My hotel smelled like smoke, it was not clean. I would not recommend this place for a single traveler. My safety is more important than saving a little extra money.
It's too bad that this hotel is located in the seediest part of town, otherwise it would be a good stay for the price. It could be more doable if you did not have a rental car and would travel strictly by bus to-and-from this hotel during daylight hours! Obviously, the staff do their best to accommodate for safety.
"Great place to stay"
The hotel is a great place to stay. The area is dodgy, but anyone with street smarts will be fine. The hotel is older but well maintained and very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is an adjoining pub that has beer brew onsite and a decent menu at a reasonable price for those who don't want to venture far from the rooms. Overall, […] it's a great hotel in which to stay. "Better than it looks"
The hotel itself is a throw-back to days of yore, and has an elegant charm or a shabby chic. The staff is lovely. The budget room is very small, but wholly serviceable for a cheap stay. It would be uncomfortable as a room to lounge in as there is so little space.
"Budget In Patricia close to Chinatown"
Very close to the garden in Chinatown. Better than expected to the amount of money. Very polite staff.
"Budget Hotel Partricia in Vancouver - fair value"
Accommodation, including breakfast reasonable for price charged. Convenient location although E Hastings St is rather depressed and run-down, on th edge of Chinatown which appeared similarly unkempt.
"Good savings for adults concert going etc......."
I was very worried at first. But my worries slipped away after a few hours. This place is not a place for worry warts....gotta kind of have a thick outer shell or understanding & compassion for the not so fortunate. You will see people shooting up & prostitutes. It is a very sad situation right there watching it all go down. Made me think about life. […] The staff was good. I wouldn't stay there alone. But would stay again because of the price, cleanliness & closeness to everything. I do not recommend taking your date there if your trying to impress!!! LOL...... Read more
"Budget INN"
There was an older Muslim Gentleman at the front desk who was superb! He provided me with various information that I need about restaurants, liquor stores, directions and cabs. The house cleaning was a painn in the butt! Check out was not until 11am and she came twice once at 930 and another at 10 and just walked into the room after I yelled "occupied." […] The Hotel is very old... floor was uneven in some parts. Elevator was a bit sketchy. Some cool antiques in the hotel as well. The hotel is on East Hastings so the neighborhood is not the greatest. I would recommend this hotel to my friends or people going to a concert/ nucks game. But I would not suggest this as a location I would want my mother staying in. Room was clean but small even for the deluxe Queen room. Read more
They didn't change our linens and bedding for 4 day, very sad but it's real:(
nice budget hotel, interesting neighborhood few minutes to china town & within walking distance to gastown. Interesting people watching from the under privileged part of society. Felt very safe walking and watching. Julian
"Budget Inn Patricia-Vancouver,B.C."
This hotel is very basic but clean and affordable. The only thing is that it's located in the heart of East Hastings, where their are so many displaced people. If you can handle that and you want to save money, then no problem. One plus is that Chinatown is only a few blocks away, which is great for shopping and food. I had no problem and the staff […] are very helpful. Lots of backpackers were staying at this hotel. Read more
"The visit was Horrible"
On entering Budget Inn Patricia, I was greeted with a disgusting odor. The room was was beyond the state of dirty and was nauseating. I had problems breathing I had to quickly hand back the key to the front desk personnel and hastily exited the compound. The visit was gross and a HUGE mistake I believe that a place like that should not be advertised […] for visitors to stay it needs a lot of attention and cleaning up. Read more
"Good for the low price"
Staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful! Gave us great advice on where to go and what to see. A convenient bar and coffee machine downstairs. Clean and comfortable room. Would stay again and recommend.

Really nice hotel, will stay again for sure. No complaints for the really low price.
"the Patricia Inn -located in dangerous area"
The hotel is located in the most dangerous area of Vancouver. There are a lot of drug addicted, poor and other kinds of dangerous people. it's cheap and comfortable, but if you travel alone and you are not a man I wouldn't stay there.
"patrica budget hotel"
the room was small but cozy, the room was a bit warn over the years but clean, the bathroom had a shower but no bath tub,and there was no fridge in the room, but for the price it was a deal.
"Recommended"
The neighborhood is scary but not nearly as bad as I thought. We were seldomly approached by homeless near the hotel. water from our showe leaked so we were upgraded, which was a nice suprise. staff was very pleasant price was cheap and very close to downtown. The number ten bus takes you towntown or you can that the fifteen minutes to walk. recommended […] and enjoy. Read more
"Cute Old Hotel in a Horrible Neighborhood"
The hotel itself is old but for the most part well maintained, it seems to be a carryover from a time when the part of town it was in wasn't so run down. The bathroom and linens were spotless, but the hotel still had an old smoke smell about it out in the halls. As for the neighborhood, I would not recommend it for solo travelers (especially women). […] There is sadly a big problem with homelessness and drugs in this part of Vancouver, and there are many "interesting" characters on the streets outside at all hours. That being said, we weren't hassled much except for a few attempts to sell us bus tickets, a bike and a block of cheese (yes, really). The staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful, and the weirdness going on outside seemed to stay out there. Read more
"Patricia Budget Inn -"
Nothing too surprising. Cheap hotel. Small rooms, very small. I saw one person shooting up and and group of people smoking crack on the same block a few streets from the hotel. Within 100 yards of the hotel there must have been at least 12 prostitutes on the street corners together with people sleeping on the streets. Was actually afraid of leaving our car by the hotel The hotel staff were extremely helpful

Read more
