Good value for money, good accommodation
"Our Favorite Place to Stay in T.O."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Our room had two minor issues which we reported at checkout. (Refrigerator did not work well due to broken seal on door and toilet needed a little tightening) I will trust the hotel will address these maintenance issues. The suite was clean, comfortable and pleasing for our stay. This is always our first choice of accommodations, so much better than a standard room. The Hotel has simple elegance and a top rate, friendly and efficient staff.
"An excellent hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was bright, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent value. An enjoyable stay all round.

The hotel is very conveniently located. It took less than 30 minutes to get to downtown Toronto. The service of the hotel is very good, which makes the stay very comfortable.
"Hotel convenient to subway"
The staff at the hotel was excellent and responded to everything immediately. However the hotel itself needs some updating such as bars in the showers. On the whole our stay was very pleasant and comfortable.
"Novotel"
Nice, clean, comfortable hotel. Helpful staff, Woud certainly stay again and recommend to others.
"Good business class hotel"
Good clean Hotel, restaurant and bar on premise has good menu. Internet was good. Great central location with subway close by was able to travel around town no problem. I would definitely stay here again.

"Novotel in Toronto North York"
Very good value for the money, conveniently located. The hotel is on one of the main subway lines, you can get to downtown Toronto in 25 minutes or so - the cab to the airport took about 35 mins. The place is nice, clean and quiet, has a very decent restaurant, I really enjoyed my stay.

"Not quite Downtown Toronto"
Please do not be fooled when it says "Downtown Toronto" it's not. This is North York, which should also be called Chinatown. You have to take the subway 30 minutes to get to Downtown to see the sites like the CN tower and Rogers Centre. The hotel was great and the price was even better. I was glad we had a chance to use the subway, we are no experts. […] For the price, great. Bar is awesome and the food was splendid. Just be warned you are not in downtown Toronto. Read more
"What happened to quality control?"
The hotel looks sleek from the outside, but on the inside, when you look closely, its shabbiness starts to appear. Little things.Non-functioning computers in the lobby. In the gym, no paper towels in the dispenser; no disinfectant in the bottle, stains by the water fountain that would come up with a bit of elbow grease; a broken gym bench. Reminds me […] somewhat of "5 star" hotels I've stayed in on the Black Sea. Everything sparkles until you really start to look. One wonders why the manager of this place can't do a thorough walk through and correct these minor defects. It is not rocket science, and it makes a world of difference to a frequent traveler. "Thanks to the Folks at the Front Desk"
Thanks to the folks at the Front Desk for taking care of my problem. I have an eye problem that requires an eye drop that must be kept cold. So I was bugging them twice a day to pull the drop out of the fridge behind the Front Desk. They were very helpful, and even cheerful, in spite of the extra work imposed by me. That was above and beyond the call […] of duty. Thanks! Read more

"Novotel Toronto - North York"
We recently visited Toronto & spend 3 nights at Novotel. While the reception area and restaurant appear to have been updated, the hotel room needs some improvements. The bathroom needs to be upgraded and the walls can use a new paint job. Overall, the hotel is conveniently located and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the Metro -- which […] can take you downtown. The hotel room size is quite small. Read more

"A few things to work on"
The staff is friendly. The proximity to a small indoor mall is great in terms of breakfast and lunch. The indoor pool is really small, and the fitness area in general could use some work. The general area is congested with much traffic and construction. It can be difficult to find a parking spot in the indoor garage adjacent to the hotel. Service at […] the front desk is friendly but somewhat slow. Read more
"Novotel Review"
The rooms were clean and the decor was very nice. The view I had was great. The front desk staff was very courteous and professional.
"Novotel North York"
Room is comfortable, it has all the basics but no much to say on additional features.
"Great service and convenient!"
We booked a room at the Novotel in North York based on reasonable prices and the pool. What we thought we'd like and what we actually liked were near opposite. I knew ahead of time that the brunch price at the hotel restaurant Trio was a little high. There were usually few customers there and no menu was posted near the entrance. But the hotel staff […] noted to us that kids were free for brunch, so knowing that, I decided the total cost would mostly balance out. We wound up going for brunch both weekend days. Our server was fantastic - very dedicated and friendly. The food was quite high quality, too, so no complaints about the restaurant, Trio. My daughter loved the pool but, small and just one meter deep, it just didn't "float my boat". The decor was modern, with clean lines. In a perfect world, the top floor (19th) would have some public window on the world. Though not close to downtown, being right on Yonge and having groceries nearby were defintely pluses. If prices stay reasonable, I'd easily consider staying at that Novotel again. Read more
"Neighborhood"
Just to emphasize the good location of the hotel the neighborhood is excellent and you can walk for dinner with no problem. The hotel is near from opera houses and theaters.

"Good stay"
My stay went smoothly. No real complaints.
This was our first experience with Novotel and now we find these hotels for all our visits. The hotel was bright, clean, great location for walking to the theater and restaurants and shopping. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The room was small for three persons. Only the queen bed was nice and comfortable. The other two small twin beds felt as if we were camping! The drainage in the bathroom both for shower and the sink was disgusting. I notified the staff for the three days we were there and nothing happened to change the situation. Something was blocking the sink so you […] can imagine the feeling when one wanted to brush his/her teeth. Also, the hallway was very noisy. Read more
"Novotel-North York, Toronto--right on subway line"
We enjoyed the comfortable room, friendly restaurant staff, and adjacent breakfast coffee shops during our 4-night stay to attend our grandson's wedding nearby. Access to subway in bldg complex was convenient as were drug, grocery, and beverage stores. Not a lot of nearby dining other than small storefronts to walk to in inclement weather. Everything […] worked well and exceeded expectations. Read more
"Great location"
Hotel was in a great location. Parking fee of 17 a night was a bit high but at least I always had a spot available. Rooms were kind of small, bathroom was nice. No fridge in room but front desk will gladly store any food you need in a fridge in a back room.

"Good Hotel for the Location but not the Budget"
The hotel is in a nice location and that is why I booked it. It has good connection through subway to North York and Toronto downtown. The flip side is that they nickel and dime you more like a seedy 2 star that the 4 star they claim to be. There is a mini-bar which charges you if you even move the items and they will not agree to have it emptied so […] that you can keep your stuff. So you have a mini-fridge in your room but it is just their shop that is occupying your room rather than working for you. They will charge you even for local calls which are usually free in almost all hotels 2 star and up. The room service is limited, the portions small and eventually you will pay much more that the advertised price as they will add significant gratuity, whether you like their service or not, and then the tax . The TV has internet and room has wired net too but they will charge you for it. They have "free wireless internet" which is even slower than a lower star hotel like Holiday Express, which btw gives free ethernet. It was pretty evident they throttle the speed hoping to rope you in for the wired internet, since anytime of the day and night, the speed was slow The rooms are well maintained, though a bit on the smaller side and housekeeping is perfect. "Clean, comfortable, affordable and convenient"
This was my second time staying at this hotel. It had a very European feel to it without having European-style tiny room. Toronto has gotten expensive, especially with the weak US dollar, but this was a pretty good deal without sacrificing quality and comfort. (The bed was super comfy.) It's a little far from downtown Toronto, but you don't even have […] to go outside to get the Yonge subway line and it was very convenient for people I was visiting uptown. North York generally isn't all that walkable, but there are numerous shops, restaurants and services attached to the hotel and right across the street, including a full-service supermarket and a public library, If only my room came with a fridge rather than an overpriced minibar.... "Great location, clean and comfortable"
We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel North York. We only stayed there because everything downtown was full. However, we were pleasantly surprised at the wide variety of restaurants and activities in the neighbourhood. And you can get to the subway indoors, so it's a quick trip downtown. The room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. However, […] there was only one working power outlet. We had to unplug the tv to charge our phone, The staff were friendly and helpful. However, there was an annoying knock at our door every day offering mini bar replacement, There is a sign on the minibar saying that it is equipped with sensors so that item removal will be charged automatically. If this is the case, they should have known we didn't use anything thus did not need replacements. The buffet breakfast is great - especially the pastries! Our only experience with room service was a fruit and cheese plate, which was very small for the price ('fruit'=2 strawberries and one grape!) Overall I would recommend this hotel. Read more
"Toronto Vacation"
This hotel was beautiful. The room was large, bed was so comfortable. The best part... the subway right downstairs. My husband and I bought roundtrip (four tokens) to ride into Toronto and see the sites, so easy. Find somewhere to eat breakfast though, as it is not included. Parking in the garage was pretty easy to find and not too expensive.
"comfortable elegance"
The Novotel is very modern, and the room was light and bright with a floor to ceiling bay window. The bathroom was spotless and well appointed. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Signage to find the hotel in the complex could be improved as could the quality of the gift/convenience shop.

"Avreage Hotel. Little bit overpriced"
mini bar had stuff in it, if you move it accidentally you get charged, Bottle of water was $4.50, can of soda $4. Godd think is, there is a grocery store accross the street. Location is good right on subway.
"Novotel North York"
Not at all good - front desk and supporting management sadly lacking in customer service skills
"Unfortunate Experience"
Male at desk guided us to the underground lot..He waved us through seeing that the metal sign above us was sitting on the roof of the truck. He then told us to stop and back up. Needless to say it scratched the roof of our brand new truck. When asked if we could have the name of the manager, he refused. My husband had to ask him 3 times until he finally […] gave us the name of his manager. We finally spoke to manager who basically told us it was an insurance claim and it was up to us to get 3 quotes. He sent a bottle of wine to our room with a note saying he hoped it would help ease the "scratch" and thanks for being such "good sports". It was totally inappropriate verging on insulting. He obviously did not realize how upset we were. This vehicle had no more than 600km on it and now it was damaged. We just stayed one night instead of two (but paid for both). Ruined our anniversary weekend. Will never return. Would rather receive reimbursement for our stay as our time is precious and we are not going to run around and get 3 quotes for an insurance claim. Why should we be inconvenienced by something we did not do? Would appreciate some guidance. Thank you. Read more
"good for the money"
Lobby was beautiful, staff helpful during the day. Parking confusing, it was an underground garage shared with other facilities and it wasn't clear which elevator to take. Room tastefully decorated in a modern style. Would have liked a more spacious room, but it was clean and comfortable. Bathroom lacked a fan, so the bathroom was steamy after a shower. […] Didn't get a chance to check out pool or fitness area. Its located in a mall, so there were a few places to eat and even a grocery store near without going outdoors. Bar overpriced with limited hours. Read more
"GREAT LOCATION AND EASY TO GET TO IN BUSY TORONTO."
Our purpose for visiting Toronto was to see "Jersey Boys" at the Toronto Center for the Arts. The Novotel was a perfect selection for that pupose. It's within easy walking distance and aalso very close to an entrance the Toronto Subway system, wwhich allows easy access to downtown Toronto without the hastle of drining and parking the car. Also, there […] are many excellent restuarants within 10 minutes walking distance. It was an ideal selection to match our needs. Read more

"This hotel has no interest in it's patrons comfort!"
Although this hotel looks beautiful to the eye, it's murder on the body. The A/C in the room did not work, the Ice machine on our floor was out of order, and there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The bed was hard as a rock, as were the pillows - and there were only 3 pillows in the room for a king size bed. The worst situation was that the elevator […] to the parking garage was out of order for our entire 3-day stay, requiring us to trudge up 3 flights of stairs in high heels, with all our stuff to get to the lobby. Although we paid $17/night for the parking, the hotel staff took no responsibility for the situation, saying it was the fault of the parking garage. Nor did they offer us an adjustment of any kind. Never again Novotel!! Read more
"Room Very small"
could not get internet to work, front desk was no help
"It's OK"
A little too far north if your goal is to explore Toronto. It is close to a metro stop, but to get downtown you'll be on the subway a bit. The call it "european" styling. Maybe so, the rooms are small. Tough if you are on an extended vacation.
