Regina - Madrid

Hotel was in a nice location, restaurants metro staions and shopping all very close. My room was a very good size and comfortable. Biggest problem was hotel was very noiesy, you could hear thevpeople above you, the room doors slamming shut on your floor and even the restaurant and bar in the lobby.

Its right infront of the the Sevilla mrt station - 5 mins walking distance from Sol. The room was ok except for the bed - it was too hard for my taste. Staff very helpful with directions. Overall, happy with this hotel :)

Since I grew up in Spain I know what's available today and find this conveniently-located hotel mediocre. My room though spacious reminded me of the 70's and a late breakfast after 10:30 am was so noisy my client almost walked out, especially when they began to drill with a jackhammer. Would not stay here again.

Our flight from Lisbon to Madrid was early morning. The hotel was very accomodating. They were able to get us into a room well before the scheduled check in time. Room was very nice, staff was great. We only had a couple of days to enjoy Spain but we made the most of our time there.

This is our second stay in hotel. Hotel is nice the only issue with most hotels in Europe and this one is no exception is the rooms get stuffy no matter what the outside temperature is. The lows were in the 30's high in the days were low 50's but room was stuffy regardless. We slept with bathroom window open to make the temperature tolerable. First for two nights,but then we left to Italy and came back to regina six days later and stayed for one night, and then we traveled to other cities in Spain and came back to Regina the night before we went home. They even booked some Flamenco show reservations and helped us buy our train tickets. The second time we stayed at Regina when we came back from Italy the receptionists recognized us and had a member from the restaurant bring us the most delicious natural fruit juices I've ever tasted in my life as a courtesy and they upgraded our room at no extra charge. Location couln't be any better. a block away from the metro station and Plaza del Sol. Very clean too. The Hotel Regina is very close to all of the sights in Madrid. It's a two minute walk to Puerta del Sol and all the winding streets full of restaurants and shops! The room I got was remarkably tiny, by any standard...I'd say less than 6 feet wide! The window had a view to a ventilation shaft. It was claustrophobic. The bathroom was nice, however. Location, was good. Breakfast was not included, but WiFi was. I'd probably stay somewhere else next time.

This was the first hotel that we stayed at in Europe and it was a good one. As others have stated, yes, the carpets are a bit tired in places and there was a lot of noise in the halls as doors seem to open and slam all night long, but all in all we enjoyed the room and our stay. I saw this hotel recommended on a few trip websites and I'm glad I did. My wife and I stayed there a total of 6 nights (4 in middle of December 2012 and a week later for 2 nights from December 31st to January 2, 2013). Close enough to Puerta del Sol to ring in the New Year but a few minutes away to avoid some of the craziness afterwards. This is a very nice hotel and ideally positioned between Prada Museum and the Royal Palace on a central Alcala street. The rooms are clean and kept very neatly, changing towels every day.
