"1st time in Madrid"
We traveled to Madrid on a Saturday to enjoy a night of wine and tapas prior to traveling to Malaga. Hotel Regina had an understated sophistication. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable, modern and sleek. I would recommend Hotel Regina and hope to visit again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A pleasant stay in a great location."
The hotel is very well located and in easy walking distance to the popular plazas and a number of the museums. Our room was clean and well appointed. The front desk staff was multilingual and very courteous and helpful. We did not have a car so I can't comment on parking. The internet was a little slow but that seems to be common in hotels. This hotel […] exceeded our expectations. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Decent hotel; great location"
No major complaints; centrally located. Attractive lobby. Quiet. Rooms were reasonably well maintained, but, in our opinion, poorly designed. Despite being starkly modern, the lighting is poor. For some inexplicable reason, the architect thought that guests would enjoy having no door to the bathroom. (We were changed to a room that had at least a flimsy […] translucent door.) "Good hotel- Great location"
Like several other reviews have mentioned, the outside noise was very loud because we had a front facing room. The front facing did have it's benefits because it was a great view. The location of the hotel was fantastic. The room we were in was outdated, but clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel because the location is fantastic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value and location"
People and service, especially the front desk, were outstanding! So helpful and considerate. What a delight!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel had no a/c; no coffee maker in the rooms; no gym and was very old. The carpet on the stairs were old and nearly tattered. When asked why were we not informed about the a/c not being functional until May we were told : because it is a 3 star hotel- what do you expect? However, the rooms were big and clean and close to must-see sights.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Can't beat the location but..."
PROS Location is perfect! It is a block away from Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol and shopping. There is also a metro stop (Sevilla-line 2) right outside the hotel door! The housekeeping staff works very hard and is polite and kept our room spotless. The day staff is very helpful and polite. Breakfast was good and adequate. CONS The room we stayed in was […] uncomfortably hot! There was no view (just an interior enclosure) which made matters worse as there was little or no breeze to help cool the room. The hotel staff did provide a fan but it was not much help considering the high temps for April and the lack of ventilation. I would avoid room six zero seven at all costs- unsure of the other rooms. Great location to centro and sol and metro Noisy st night as above major street Room very warm, A/C wasn't turned on. Had to open balcony door to cool, thus very noisy all night long.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We expected more"
We were really looking forward to a 3 night stay here as part of 15 days in Spain, but we were disappointed. Our view to outside was grim. We got to see all the AC and air handling units, but we were very hot in our room. The AC wasn't turned on yet. They gave us a fan, which helped. Between the see-thru bathroom door and the need to keep the bathroom […] window open to the world outside, there was no privacy in the W.C. One bed was fine, the other had broken slats that were so bad my husband put the mattress on the floor. We should have complained, but it was such a hassle to get the fan we just decided to grin and bear it. Room was quirky but clean with many good features, but for us the bad outweighed the good. "Experience marred by unusually small and warm room"
The location and breakfast are excellent, and the internet is fast, much better than 18 months ago when it was essentially unusable. However, my room was unusually small and inexplicably warm. I turned off the heat completely and opened the window (to an enclosed area only somewhat connected with the outside) and it was still very warm. The front desk […] provided a fan, which helped, but they never solved the heat problem. I suspect it can not be solved. I could therefore not recommend staying here unless you can get a room with a window to the outside air. If you have an inside room, it might be stifling even in quite cool weather. Even with better climate control, however, the room was very small, even for a single. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, clean hotel in a great location."
The hotel is very close to Puerto del Sol and minutes away from Gran via shopping. It is also 15 minutes away from the Prado and Parque Retiro. That alone is worth the reasonable prices they offer. The only problem I had was the the air was not working and the room was quite room at night. I opened the window but there's a restaurant downstairs so I […] was able to smell their food. Otherwise, I would have easily rated the hotel condition and comfort a 4 or 5. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

My stay on this Hotel was very pleasing, the staff made sure I felt good and the location of this Hotel is awesome, you have a Metro station right next to it and from there you can go walking to many interesting places.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Value Great Location"
My wife and I really ejoyed our stay. We were a short distance to the Prado and to the Reina Sophia. The Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor were a few minutes walk. The staff was generally helpful. A conceierge helped us plan two wonderful day trips to Segovia and to Toledo using the high speed Renfe trains. It was simple, fun and much less expensive […] than a tour. Our host explained how to do it. He purchased the seats online for us and made sure our seat assignments were comfortable. There are a number of good Tapas opptions in the area but you will have to walk a ways to find a reaaly good restaurant. Not a problem. After a wonderful late night dinner just take a cab back to the hotel. We are English speaking and traveled from the US. The staff had sufficient English skills to communicate at all hours of the day and night. The only inconveneice was that they ran out of converters and I could not charge my computer the night before we returned home. I suggest you bring your own. All in all the Regina was a comfortable room and a relaxing respite from the crowded Madrid. My wife and I avoid posh hotels. We look for comfort, value and location. This is the perfect hotel for independent travelers who are looking for clean and comfortable. We are seniors but had absolutley no problem getting aroung on public transpotation from the Puerta del Sol Station with the help of the hotel concierge. We would surely stay again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, friendly and great location."
This was our first trip to Madrid and we were so happy w the location of Hotel Regina. Ours was only a leisurely walk to: the Prado Museum, Puerto de Sol, Casa Patas, Opera, and the Sofina Museum. Our 2 1/2 hour city tour bus picked us up at Hotel Regina. We took the Metro to the hotel from the airport because the Metro Stop was right outside the […] Hotel. First time in Madrid and we were very pleased with Hotel Regina. The location is very central to many sites and hotel is basic, but very clean. We were happy there was a room safe too. A suggestion, we suggest passing on the breakfast in the hotel restaurant. There is a place next door who has a decent breakfast menu, but not so pleasant servers.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good value when on sale for business travel"
Although traveling alone, I was given a double room, which was a much better size than the single I saw. The bathroom in the double was very nicely appointed and spacious with good hot water and water pressure. The bed is very firm (which some prefer) but oddly short in length. I don't believe someone over 6' would avoid dangling his/her feet. Sounds […] from pipes and echoes in the courtyard were fairly noisy during the day, but by nighttime it was quiet. I found the room on sale on hotels.com at an excellent off-season price for a nonrefundable single, and with the free wi-fi, I would consider Regina for my future business trips when funds are an issue. The grocery store in the basement of the nearby Cortes Ingles made it easy to assemble a picnic dinner to enjoy in the Parque del Retiro one evening. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very nice hotel in Plaza de Sol"
This was a very nice hotel close to Plaza de Sol. Great restaurants and attractions are within easy walking distance, and there are two Metro stations nearby. The rooms are gigantic, unfortunately mine opened to an airshaft (i.e., no view). The staff was very knowledgable and friendly, and they went out of their way to be helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very convenient location - close to everything"
This hotel was in a great location about 15 minutes from Royal Palace and the Prado. Five minutes to Puerta del Sol. Ten minutes to Plaza Mayor. Helpful staff. Rooms newly remodeled. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to see Madrid. We took a cab for the airport but there is also a Metro station right in front.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good value for money, but not especially nice"
good central location. Room was clean, basic, decent size, and simply furnished. Room was located at rear of hotel facing outside building wall whereby it was hidden from natural sunlight. Next time would request room with window facing the outside.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location in Madrid"
Best hotel we stayed at. Breakfast good. Internet worked. Comfortable bed. Service good, although I would have preferred no bellhop. Fantastic location by Puerta del sol and in front of Metro stop. Roomsize generous.Genuine Expedia guest review
Being welcomed with cold orange juice was an unexpected delight! Very pleasant staff and clean room. Be aware that most windows are on an airshaft (normal for downtown), which can be somewhat noisy. Marble in halls ditto. Downsides: shower only, bedside lights inadequate (the desk's is fine), bed could use soft pad. But I walked everywhere (Prado, Retiro, […] much more) from it. There are pastry shops and banks (the necessities of life) very close, and lots of shopping and dinner places and much more within a few blocks! Metro too. Great choice! "Best hotel in Spain"
I was very surprised this was a three star. Everything was perfect from the staff, to the room, to the buffet etc. I asked Spanish friends why it only had three stars given how well run it is and they suspected it had to do with taxes on four star hotels. Wow, what a great stay. Right in the middle of everything just a hundred meters to the east of […] Sol, right next to one of the nicest restaurants in Spain. Room design so nice I took pictures of the bathroom for ideas on home improvement. Even the maids smile and say hi as you walk down the hall in the morning. Obviously a very well managed hotel. The finest details are thought of. You turn on the TV and it doesn't default to movies. The remote actually works for once on the first go. etc ect. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We chose the hotel based upon a recommendation. Unfamiliar with Madrid we found the hotel and its location to be perfect for our 24 hour visit. "More than adequate hotel in the center of Madrid"
The Hotel Regina's location is wonderful, in the center of Madrid, within walking distance of the places that I wanted to visit. The staff was helpful, the room was comfortable and kept spotlessly clean... It also had an in-room safe which I utilized everyday.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, updated room...but a few problems."
We were in Madrid for New Year's Eve celebration at Puerta del Sol. The hotel has an absolutely fantastic location just a block away from Puerta del Sol. You can also easily walk to most major sights - Plaza Mayor, Prado, etc. The young man named Javier who works as the concierge was excellent - very friendly and informative. Our room had clearly been […] updated and was very nicely appointed. The issues: (1) our A/C was not working. It wasn't broken, the hotel had just shut it down for the winter. That is not a big deal and I understand that it is relatively typical, but I also think it should be disclosed before one books a room. We slept with the windows cracked and it was fine. (2) no doors whatsoever to our bathroom. I love my wife, she loves me...but we have no interest in being in the same room as each other when we use the toilet. Not all rooms are designed that way (we had a relative in another room and it was not like that). (3) The pay per view was broken. We let them know and they told us it'd been broken for a while and would eventually get fixed - but they were pretty laid back about it. None of these issues are big deals, and overall I would recommend the hotel because of location, cleanliness, and very affordable price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent location, functional room, helpful staff"
The hotel is at mid-point between Plaza Mayor and the museum district, and at the beginning of Gran Via, making it an ideal sight seeing location. The hotel is surrounded with buildings with exquisite architectural details representing different periods. The metro station is just right outside. The city's main train station is only 20 minutes on foot, […] through a charming neighborhood. There is a VIP chain restaurant that is open almost 24 hours a day next to the hotel. The room is clean and functional. We stayed in a room with three beds, on the 4th floor. The bathroom has a fully enclosed shower with good water pressure which is above the average European standard. The only thing that is missing is a coffee maker. To us, having a hot cup of tea in the morning and late at night is important. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. They all speak English and are willing to give a free Spanish lesson on the spot. Lastly, an airport express shuttle station is only 10 minutes from the hotel. Notice that the drop-off and pick-up locations are different. The pick-up location is on the left hand side of CentroCentro (old post office building) at Plaza de Cebeles (standing at the entrance facing the square), behind the Taxi station. "Newly renovated and close to "downtown" Madrid"
I spent one night at Hotel Regina after spending 4 nights Hotel Chamartin, and the difference between these two hotel is remarkable, Hotel Regina is conveniently located in the heart of Madrid, one block from plaza del Sol, and maybe three blocks from La Plaza Mayor. "Better than expected"
Everything about The Regina exceeded my expectations. I would label it a superb boutique hotel in downtown Madrid. The hotel restaurant is one of the best I've experienced anywhere for the fixed price dinner menu---fantastic value. Location of hotel in downtown Madrid was perfect and a taxi stand in front makes it possible to go anywhere easily.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel Regina is in a great location within walking distance to an abundance of shopping and restaurants. If you are fit, the hotel is also convenient to the metro and a 30-minute walk to most museums. Some of the hotel seems more modern than other parts.
