"Excellent location and close to everything"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel and staff are wonderful and we will definitely stay there on our next visit to Barcelona! The room was very clean and neat and the daily maid service was exceptional. The front desk staff was very professional and courteous. Wi-Fi in the room was excellent. Walking out of the hotel and looking up at the Cathederal every morning was surreal. Beautiful hotel and wonderful location!

The hotel was clean and neat, the staff very helpful, and the bathroom was great. We also found the price fair and reasonable. The view out of the back of the hotel was not the best- apartment back porches and dirty laundry, so keep the curtains closed.

"Unbelievably Great Service"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Stayed for a five night family vacation. Our room for three was very nice with a king bed and sofa bed. Efficiency kitchen with dishes and silverware and cookware. Compact refrigerator. Very well located in Eixample neighborhood one block from metro station. Easy walk to many restaurants and the Passieg Gracia or upper part of the Rambla Cataluna. However the BEST was the service of the front desk. Whatever the request they were ceaseless in their efforts to please and accommodate. Information, directions, recommendations for eating and transportation, ticketing. The staff could not do enough for us. This is service that is rare to find in the amenities industry: a true personal touch. My family can heartily recommend the Acacia Suites for a Barcelona vacation. The only negative for some is that it is not located directly on Plaza Cataluna or the Rambla but if you want a quieter neighborhood, with a local feel it is a very nice place.

The Eixample suburb was created 1860–1920 and consequently holds the city’s finest Modernist buildings. The Passeig de Gràcia is the main artery, its wide pavements lined with designer shops and chic cafes. It is also home to Gaudí’s two fairy-tale masterpieces, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, plus many other architectural gems. The undoubted star of the Eixample is La Sagrada Familia, Gaudí’s fabulous unfinished emblematic church.
see all hotels in BarcelonaDidn't realize that there was a 14 euro charge for breakfast even though I asked. Too pricey for cold food. No metro stop near. Room was beautiful but the lighting was really poor. Very very clean.
the room was at the top of the hotel with uncertain fire escape. the "fitness room" was a joke. the hotel was nice and the staff and breakfast great. the roof view was fantastic.

"Great Place to Stay in Barcelona"
The hotel is very conveniently located, being close to several metro stations, to la diagonal which is a main street of Barcelona. You could walk from the hotel to placa catalunya, which is the beginning of the Las Ramblas, in no time at all. Very clean rooms, the bed was to hard for my taste, but my girlfriend loved it. The staff was friendly, and […] very helpful. When I return to Barcelona, I will be stayinf here again. Read more

This is a centrally located inexpensive hotel. The rooms are fine although the sound carries from the adjacent rooms.
"Astoria Hotel"
Great hotel! Nice location just a block from the main Diagonal blvd. The hotel is very clean and the management is very attentive and very courteous. We were so pleased with this hotel. We were just a short taxi ride from the cruise ship port - 35 Euros.
"Astoria"
This hotel is your standard European hotel. Nice lobby, but boring tight rooms. standard queen size bed, etc. The roof top pool was nice touch though small, with more old buildings than sights as your view. The neighborhood was nice, and safe (if you don't mind a small strip club and a peep show/porn house on the same street) but a little confusing […] the first or second time getting off the metro. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the metro. Fairly close to some major sights, far from the beach. No problems with the hotel, check in, the staff, etc. Read more
"Nice hotel with several flaws"
The rooms are quite nice but we were unfortunately stuck in an inside room with a view of 4 concrete walls. I asked to be moved but they said they were full. The room itself was quite tiny and unsuitable for 2 people. The pool is very tiny and it gets quite busy during the summer. There wasn't always a chair or table available. The free WiFi is only […] in the lobby. Read more
"Good Choice if Reasonable Price"
I would have no reservations about recommending this hotel if you don't need your hotel to look like one of the big American higher end chains. The lobby was very attractive and had great original art work. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and gracious. The room itself was clean, but the bedspread and curtains looked dusty. The bathroom was modern […] and clean. The floors in the room were tiled with no carpet, so it looked a bit austere. It was in a nice section of town, and there were low key Spanish cafes on the corners in both directions that were reasonably priced with local foods. I would not hesitate to stay there again. "Astoria was more than expected"
Great room, free wifi in lobby, $30.00 cab from airport, $20.00 to cruise port, free coffee in the morning would have been nice. Easy walk to las rambles if you are in reasonable shape. Overall, more than expected.
"HOTEL Astoria, Barcelona, Spain"
Very small room, no swimming pool.
"Call ahead"
When I got to the hotel, they put me on the roof and the a/c never cooled the room off. Then they put me in a nice cool room that was noisy with a jackhammer from 10am to 7 pm. The third room I got was the best facing the main street. Call ahead for issues concerning remodeling and a/c. Otherwise, I'd stay here again next time I visit because of the […] nice neighborhood. "Great Hotel and good location in a nice area"
Surrounding neighborhood is nice. Kind of central location, you can easily get to main attractions by bus, but you have to ask. Staff is helpful. downside... We traveled with kids, and like all european hotels, very strict about how many can stay in a room when checking in.
"nice hotel but oh the construction noise"
Very nice and comfortable hotel in a convenient location. Rooms were small, but this is typical in Europe. Lots of places to eat within easy walking distance. My major pain was the construction noise. The hotel was doing renovation and the noise during the day was very loud. I think there should be clear notices (both by hotels.com and hotel) when major […] construction is planned. Then folks can make informed decision about bookings. Read more
"Hotel Astoria in Barcelona"
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Astoria Hotel in Barcelona. She has a bad knee but was able to walk from the hotel to the Las Ramblas area where we caught hop on-hop off buses around town. The hotel is clean and well kept up. I would have given all a rating of 5 except for one counter clerk who acted surly when my wife asked a question of another […] clerk. Maybe just a bad day for him but his attitude came across as unpleasant to the customers, US. The area has numerous eating places that we enjoyed as well. Read more
"Nice but not for the finicky"
First off Barcelona is just an expensive city and also a very touristy city so unfortunately hotels aren't cheap. Based on the price I did expect a little more. For what I can figure we were placed in one of the smaller rooms of the hotel. It was still nice but when we arrived the water wasn't working in the bathroom. It was fixed within the hour when […] we asked about it. Free wi-fi is only available in the lobby and was kinda of spotty. There were many different nationalities as guests at the hotel and the staff does speak enough English to help you out and point you in the right direction. It is in a nice location several blocks from a metro station, some nice restaurants and some shops a block or two away as well. There is a sex shop two buildings down which was a bit odd to me but Europe is a little more liberal with those things and might be a bit more common in a city. There are no vending or ice machines. None of these things are deal breakers to me and have slept in less luxurious hotels...but the price didn't seem to match the quality for me but then again the American dollar is worth a lot less than the Euro. "Hotel Astoria Bacelona -- Prime L'Eixample locale"
I arrived in Barcelona as a young, solo woman traveller with 2 full days for leisure exploration of the city prior to work conferences that were to be held in the Diagonal Mar region of the city. Thus, this hotel was perfectly located for me to enjoy strolling the northern neighborhoods of L'Eixample and Gracia before switching to my work appointed […] hotel on the opposite side of the city. Diagonal Metro stop was nearby in order to reach other parts of the city quickly, but I most enjoyed shopping on Passeig de Gracia and especially Rambla Catalunya. With gelato in hand from a corner store, I enjoyed the famous architecture of several of Gaudi's buildings as well as beautiful facades and wrought iron balconies of the neighborhoods apartments. The hotel itself is clean, safe, quiet and nicely appointed. I personally enjoyed returning in the afternoon to siesta on the lounge chairs by the small rooftop pool before heading back out in the evening for a cafe or late dinner. My twin room was small, but all that I needed for my short stay. I am not one to spend much time in my room -- a clean, soft bed (yes), a good tub/shower (yes), safety box (yes) is all I really require. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I would happily stay at the Hotel Astoria again. Read more
"Hotel Astoria Barcelona"
Accomodating staff, nice quiet neighborhood, near Gaudi exhibit. Longish walk to the tourist Rambla, but quite doable. Close to the red and green hop on hop off tourist bus. We enjoyed our stay,
"Not close to Metro"
The hotel was not bad overall but it was not close to the Metro station it was a bit of a walk and for the price it seems like it should have been closer to all the attractions Like Gaudi and all the shops and. its not bad at all but its a bit far from all the excitement

"Astoria, Barcelona Spain"
The hotel is in a great location - 15 minute walk to La Rambla and Placa de Catalayuna. The public areas of the hotel are very nice and clean - the rooftop pool is also nice, but the bar didn't open until 7pm and it was a little chilly in April to sit up there with a drink. My room was larger than I was expecting and clean. The air conditioner didn't […] work, which was ok in April and the TV didn't work either. Read more
"Spring time in Barcelona"
My wife and stayed at the Astoria in April and had a wonder time. Over all the hotel is excellent, the only thing is the size of the room and selection of TV stations in English, other than that it was well worth the money and a great value.
"great hotel and service"
loved our stay here and the restaurant next door has good paella too. Lovely hotel and service, friendly and helpful.

"Perfect hotel in Barcelona"
I loved the neighborhood. A short walk to the upper end of La Rambla and the Gaudi houses. I enjoyed a nice pitcher of sangria at the rooftop pool after a long day of site seeing. There are plenty of good restaurants right around the corner. The taxi stand on the corner made finding an early morning cab to the airport easy. Highly recommended!

"Close to city center"
The hotel is close to the main attractions. The only negative would be, that, for the 5 nights that we stayed there, we were given a much smaller room with absolutely no view. The only window was just in name. But overall this is a good hotel with excellent service.

Very good hotel in upscale neighborhood. The staff is helpful and the breakfast buffet is excellent.
"Great Hotel"
It's about a 7 minute walk to the metro, not bad. Great part of town to see what the real Barcelona is like.
"great place"
A bit far from all the hustle and bustle of all the crowds but if you want a quiet great rooom this is the place
"Off the grid perfect location"
The Hotel was in a great location. The pool on the roof was perfect for an afternoon dip to cool off. The room was clean however, it smelled like smoke and perfume. The pillows were bricks! Overall though we had a nice stay and would recommend to our friends

Nice clean hotel. Beds were a little old and not very comfortable. Other than that as expected.
"Great Location"
We really enjoyed our stay at Astoria. We were greeted with a friendly staff. We were upgraded from a standard room to a Suite due to availablitity. It is very centrally located close to many restaurants, shopping, and bars. We only stayed one night due to our tour, we wish we could've stayed more. Definitely recommend Astoria Hotel.

"Astoria in Barcelona"
Excellent hotel, excellent location, helpful and friendly staff, close to metro.
"nice place"
Nice place, room appeared new and remodeled, but with no view at all. Location was good, metro was 10 minutes away. I wouldn't rush back to stay here, but overall it was a good experience.
"Good location -- nice room"
I stayed in the Astoria for two nights this June. The hotel is conveniently located just outside of the city centre. It however takes just 15 minutes to walk there and there is a metro station quite close by. The room was clean and comfortable and the wireless internet worked very well after I had asked for the password at the reception. The staff was […] friendly and helpful. The A/C kept the room at a nice termperature without causing too much noise. I did not have breakfast included but there are plenty of cafes close by to have breakfast at. Also, lots of small restaurants nearby to have lunch or dinner. I can definitely recommend the hotel. Read more

"early entrance"
we got to the hotel at 1030 am and expected to just be able to check our bags but they said our room was reasdy now, we were delighted. good service and nice location. staff was helpful with sightseeing
"Bonus Stars for the Astoria"
What others have written is correct: the Barcelona Astoria deserves more than its mere 3 stars. There with a group of 16. All easily processed at check-in, and all more than pleased with the setting, the service and the whole experience. When in Barcelona, check out the Astoria! LCB 11/09/2009
"Location Location Location"
Good, accommodating, helpful staff. Did not book hotel with breakfast so I have no feedback. If your priority is location, this is the hotel. However, make sure you ask for higher than standard room (which was very small room). If you are used to walking, you can walk throughout tourist areas even to Barceloneta Beach because from the hotel you will […] walk along Diagonal right to Passeig de Gracia (all the important spots) straight to Pl Catalunya to Ramblas all the way to the beach which was lots of fun. Do not hesitate to get a back massage on the sandy beach. Loosen up a little bit! Overall we enjoyed our stay. Read more
"Great value and excellent location!"
Astoria was very close to many affordable restaurants and trendy shops while being a short walk to the metro stop (Diagonal) which connects to almost every line in the city. The room was clean and the hotel staff was very helpful and polite. We ate at a restaurant around the corner on Paris multiple times for the good food and vibe while offering affordable […] prices with good portions. We would stay at Astoria again during our next stay in Barcelona. Read more
"Good value"
Good hotel, friendly staff, although the breakfast was not included, they offered for half the normal price, which was worth, good quality breakfast. It's about 10 min walk to metro station.

"Great Hotel- Beautiful Neighborhood!"
The hotel staff was very nice. We arrived early, and they held our luggage until the room was ready. They advised us about a local restaurant to visit while we waited. The location is great! The area is beautiful and safe. The major attractions are all within reach- some you will have to use a metro or taxi to get to. Highly recommended and would happily […] stay there again. Read more
