We were impressed with the size of the room (but at these prices that should be expected), but the balcony was so small that it could only fit one chair. Make sure that you are not put in a room ending in 17 as the balconies are curved! Housekeeping did an excellent job with the room but the service at the pool, restaurants and front desk was not so […] good and slapdash at times. The bellmen were good and we have already commented on the great housekeeping team. The location is good if you want a quiet setting away from South Beach. You should definitely visit nearby Mary Brickell village for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, especially if you don't want to pay $30 each for breakfast. Finally, don't expect a real beach as that is just an illusion. Their so called "beach" is just sand with no access to the water at all and a concrete seawall separating it from the water. Read more

My 3 sisters and I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami in early Sept. The beach/pool area was beautiful with a very nice view from any seat. It was quiet while we were there, though I understand it is more lively on the weekends. For us it was tranquil and a perfect start to a sister's birthday celebration. We hat de option to use the pool of another hotel but it looks like a 2 star hotel pool. The private beach is with no access to the water... Because of this issues they gave us an upgrade to a suite. Outstanding hotel. Everything was great. Wonderful views of downtown and Biscayne Bay. Great Mandarin Oriental service. The hotel is in great condition. Nice pool, good restaurants. Location is great for getting around Miami. No need to rent a car if you are staying only a few days. Most things are a $20-30 cab ride away, including south beach.

A really great hotel. Location and the view are fantastic, away from all the craziness of South Beach. The housekeeping was awful, they did not clean the bathroom properly before we arrived and the daily housekeeping was the same, far from decent. But the staff was very polite and helpful, superb at handling their guests and their requests.

Service pros: clean room, friendly bell and door men, nice bathrobes, fresh flower in the bathroom, good in-room dining continental breakfast Service cons: concierge and main desk too snobby for my taste, bar not refilled daily, bathroom toiletries not replaced daily, complimentary chocolate only one day on arrival, overpriced martinis at the bar downstairs Location: […] superb; great beach and swimming pool (not too much chlorine), great views from restaurants, great jogging/walking path; near and central to almost everything in town Because this is a pricey 5 star hotel I expected to get my money's worth in the details but many details were not on par. For example, one night I called about a stuck shower handle and it took over 40 minutes to get service. On another occasion, I had to fetch my own taxi at the front entrance, etc., and so on. Each room is supposed to include a balcony but what I got, I would not call that; no room for a chair, just barely enough to stand. Also, although the hotel was obviously not up to full capacity, I got a room next to the elevator and was hence disturbed by other guests throughout my stay. Conclusion: on the ride back to the airport the taxi driver said that it used to be an excellent hotel and that’s what it looked like to me too – once a 5 star hotel but now dwindling. I've been to countless cities and countries, stayed in very different places so I can pass judgement with a clear conscience that this was not worth the price. Read more

I could tell folks were making sure I was cared for.The front desk manager walked me to my room to make sure it was to my liking and offered to take me to several others if I wanted to view them before making a […] decision. The concierge called with ideas of activities I might like, the bartender at the pool created new drinks based on what flavors I liked, the beach attendant moved the umbrella while I was sleeping so I wouldnt wake up with a sunburm. My husband insisted on a five-star hotel, so we were prepared to pay for luxury. We were pleased with the room's size, furnishings, balcony, and view, and by the staff's pleasantness, but disappointed by: (a) poor and unfixable television reception and picture; (b) tenuous internet connections in the room and no internet access on the hotel grounds […] despite daily internet access fees (c) daily parking fees (d) daily change of sheets but not duvet covers, so the bed didn't look fresh after the first night, (e) absence of a coffee/tea maker in the room, which forced us to leave the hotel when we did not want to pay through the nose for room service (f) a lumpy and too-soft mattress that left me with a backache. When I arrived I was greeted warmly and shown to my room. I was surprised to learn that I had purchased the "getaway package" which included 50 bucks in amenities daily. Not too shabby! Loved the service at the pool/beach and the spa services were great.I would definitely visit again. Azul was a stellar dining experience for sure!

From outside, the hotel doesn't look spectacular but don't pay attention of this small detail. The Mandarin is a real 5-stars showing Excellence quality and Services to its customers. I was more than satisfied by the Service offered by the staff. I think the best way to summarize what they offered is that at the end of my stay, I just felt more SAD […] to leave this hotel than to leave Miami. They did a wondeful job and deserve the high rates. The location is perfect for business persons and people that don't like to stay in a touristic area. The hotel is at 10min in car from South Beach / Collins Avenue / Ocean Drive. So we have to spend hundreds of dollars to go by taxi to Miami Beach.
