The Goring - London

Great value for the price. A little expensive but worth every penny. Beautifully appointed. Love the library and bar for tea or a late night drink. The staff was wonderful. Very attentive. The rooms are a little small but very comfortable.

It wasn't the cleanliness or the decor, all traditional and fine (although the picture online depicts a fabulous green lawn behind the hotel--more like a small patch of grass). It was the attitude--polite without a trace of friendliness. If what you want is a super-conservative and stuffy hotel full of British business people in the bar and haughty […] staff, then this is for you. For the cost, there are many other luxury hotels in London that will deliver a friendlier, more welcoming experience. I am a seasoned traveler and have stayed in hotels on par to or nicer than this all over the world. I was made to feel like an appalling nuisance when I arrived on my overnight U.S. flight and the room wasn't ready--no problem, I was happy to make a quick change and go about my day, checking in later. I was told I could change, vaguely, "on the fourth floor," but I took the elevator up there to find nothing but a hall of rooms. I dragged my bag down stairs to the basement ladies' powder room. Another time I stopped at the desk to ask for a corkscrew--they looked at me like I was crazy and I was told the bellman would bring one to my room. He did, then told me he'd need it back immediately. When I arranged a taxi for my departure and inquired how early I should leave, I was asked, "Are you flying first or business?" I burst out laughing at the absurdity of the presumption. I was charged for wi-fi but on the last night a helpful bellman told me I could log on with a password for free. Read more

You will love this hotel. they bend over backwards for you. from Peter and his colleagues in bowler hats at the door to, the staff at reception.very elegant and cozy. Close to public transportation which turns out to be a good way to get around London. One of the best hotels anywhere, period. If I have one peeve, its that wireless internet is not included, […] and the water in the room could not be cooled since no in room refrigerator. But that's minor because Goring is simply a great hotel. Did I say the bathroom floors are heated? Stayed there for three nights April 22 - 25, 2011. Yep, the weekend before the royal wedding! While a scheduling accident, made everything even more exciting. Loved the hotel, it is charmingly traditional, complete with typical English whimsey. Will definately be back. Hard to imagine visiting London and not staying there in the future.

The Goring Hotel was everything I had expected - delightful, helpful staff; lovely building; wonderful restaurant and bar; great location. Room service was quick and responsive; concierge was helpful; doorman knew who I was and welcomed me back every time. Since I was traveling alone, this was comforting to me. Only complaint was the TV - only got 6 […] channels; I don't know if I was doing something wrong but I wish I had asked about it. Still, I was not in my room enough to really care! After getting a tremendous deal on Expedia for this hotel, we were suprised to read all the rave reviews. On arrival we found out that everything was true. Everyone welcomed us with open arms and bent over backwards to do everything and anything they could to accommodate us. Staff were incredible and must be very happy working for this hotel because it was reflected everywhere, from bellman, to reception, to room service to housekeeping. First of many visits for me and certainly trumps my usual five star picks which were full due to the Pope visit. I am very glad I was forced to try Goring, i will definitely return.

we could not be happier that we took advantage of this flight/hotel deal from expedia! the goring is staffed by exceptionally competent, professional caring individuals. our room was extremely bright and cheery, and the bathroom was even equipped with a towel warmer.....a small luxury that made us feel divine! the location is perfect-steps from victoria […] station (tube and train), buckingham palace and the royal mews, AND theaters & restaurants- the concierge even arranged for us to get tickets to see 'billy elliott' the very same evening-excellent seats to boot! i highly recommend the goring to anyone staying in london-even families with children. we will definitley be staying there again. This is a very nice hotel in a fantastic location. We appreciated the free Wi-Fi and IT center. It would have been nice, considering how much we paid per night, for a full breakfast to be included. Breakfast was very overpriced.

Everything at the Goring is always perfect. Not only is this superbly English hotel beautiful and supremely comfortable, the meals are beyond excellent, and best of all, the staff are not only competent but gracious and cordial. They go the extra mile to make sure their guests are happy. If I could afford it, I'd never stay anywhere else in London.

The Goring Hotel was everything and more we were expecting it to be. Fabulous inside and out and most of the staff were friendly and very professional. Nothing was too much trouble and you genuinely felt "at home". We were extremely fortunate to have been upgraded at no extra cost to one of the Hotel's most prestigious rooms, which was located opposite […] the Royal suite. The rooms were decorated to the highest standard with Molton Brown (my favourite which added to the feeling of being at home) toiletries in the bathroom. The bathroom contained a free-standing bath and walk-in shower. The location was ideal for Knightsbridge and shopping in Sloane Street. A 30 minute walk would take you to New Bond Street area. I will definitely recommend this hotel and no doubt will be staying there again myself. Read more

I had the pleasure of staying at the hotel in August. For my purposes it is very well located. Very close to the bus and tube. Although not the largest rooms they are beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. I agree with other reviews that you get what you pay for and on that basis I decided to book a deluxe double room. Although my room faced […] the street it was very quiet. The afternoon tea is to die for. Too much to eat and whatever is left is very readily packed into a little box to take back to your room. I stayed during the recent riots. As I had already booked a theatre ticket and decided to still go it was suggested to me by the concierge that should I have any problems I was to ring the hotel and they would send a staff member in a taxi to collect me. No one could complain about that level of service. Luckily I didn't need any assistance. I know that I will certainly be returning to The Goring the next time I am in London. Read more

Overall this is a good hotel, with a good location. The room have a nice decoration, but are small and haven't any minibar. The concierge is very helpful as all the staff. Check in is inside the room, I didn't like it.
