"close to sights/shopping"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We loved it - great location, staff and breakfast. Lovely, large second floor room.
"Good Value"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The Ardmore is a clean, modern hotel that has power showers and staff that are friendly. The food served is well prepared and affordable. For the money it can't be beat, but if you want nice pillows, soft towels& cozy bedding then you should spend the extra money to get them. Those of us who prefer value over the little "extras" would love this hotel. The 15 minute bus ride into downtown wasn't bad unless you JUST missed the bus and have to wait another twenty minutes to get on. It is a great location for a first night into Dublin or your last because it is only 15 minutes to the airport!
"Wonderful hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The westbury is a great hotel, very clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to travel to Dublin soon!

"Close enough to everything, far enough for quiet"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
Very pleasant. We stayed directly in temple bar 3 nights before and wanted one night of quiet before we left. Receptionist was extremely helpful and even mailed a postcard for me so I wouldn't have to walk. Would stay again.

"Best Western near O'Connell St"
Very nice, but not for very long. The beds were comfortable and the shower was nice. We really only stayed overnight and slept there, but it was nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay there again

"Great Location"
Convenient location on upper O'Connell St. Short walk to Temple Bar & shopping areas. The on/off tour bus stops right outside the hotel. Airport bus is less than a block away. The breakfast can use some work. Not worth the add'l 10 Euro a day. Avoid rooms in the front of the hotel as there is a sports bar that plays loud music until after 2am daily. […] Good value overall. "Dublin Hotel super location!!"
This hotel was located in the heart of Dublin, perfect for walking and connecting with all the transportation systems including cheap airport shuttle. The rooms were very clean and the staff was so helpful. Although this was not the "charming" Bed and Breakfasts that one may want it is a good option especially for the price and location. We were pl […] eased. Read more
"Pretty convenient"
Solid hotel on O'Connell St. in a rebuilding part of Dublin. Ten minute walk to the river and Temple Bar. The green Dublin Bus on/off tour has a stop right outside, as does the 747 bus from the airport. We didn't have breakfast, but skip the "coffee cart" - it consisted of some prepackaged pastries sitting on the bar under glass. Our room backed up […] to the alley and there is a large bar next door that has a back deck, so if you are a light sleeper it might be best to avoid these rooms. The temperature of the shower also changed about every second or so. Good value for what we paid and we were satisfied overall. Read more

"Where Did Our Postcards Go?"
We handed our Ireland postcards with the proper stamps on them to the reception desk person as she said she would put them in the mail for us. So far it has been almost 2 months and our family has not received them. Know the postal service can be blamed for this as I guess the postal services in any country are usually the fall "guys". However, we had […] not been able to obtain much help from this front desk person during our stay as she appeared to be impatient when we attempted to clarify the bus stop locations and was indifferent to our requests for general tourist information. We should have mailed the cards ourseles. The breakfast service was very hectic and the servers had a difficult time keeping up with the crowd. Our second Saturday night in a Dublin hotel confirmed our conclusion that a Sat night is not a good night for a quiet restful sleep in a Dublin hotel as the parties seen to go on all night. Amazing endurance that those Irish tourist have ! Read more
"Great Hotel"
This hotel had very large, comfortable rooms. The location was good for train access and the neighborhood was close to shopping. We would definitely stay here again and I recommend it to others.
"Excellent"
Great location. Staff very helpful. Look forward to staying there again
"Close to downtown and good shopping, friendly staf"
The hotel was very centrally located, close to downtown, shopping etc. The room was very small, you couldn't find a place to open your suitcase. The window looked out on a cement wall and exhaust pipes that went on and off all night long.It had a great bathroom with a tub. All the vending machines had been taken out of the hotel and the ice machine […] was in the basement, The little place to buy soft drinks etc. in the lobby was always closed. I would reccomend it because of its location to downtown and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant menue was limited and the breakfast was not great but for two nights in a wonderful city, it was a good place to stay. Read more
"Great Hotel"
I was nicely surprised by the quality of this Best Western. It is a very nice hotel, helpful staff and high quality rooms with a fantastic location in Dublin. The breakfast/coffee bar downstairs is a nice touch to grab something quickly before heading out for your day. The only downside is there is no parking and the nearby garage is pricey. If you […] are renting a car to drive around Ireland and Dublin is your first day, it might be best to take the cheap express bus into the city for the day (stops right outside the hotel) and then take the bus back in the morning to pick up your car at the airport so you don't have to pay an additional day on the rental and parking. "Great place to stay in Dublin"
I stayed here for 3 nights with my girl friend, and it was perfect for the two of us. We found it really clean, and the staff went out of there way to help us. Maybe it's just an Irish thing, but they were really really nice. Without us even asking they provided us with a map, and circled things on there for us to check out. This place is really secure, […] and you can't even use the elevators without a room key. The hallways are kinda tiny, but Europe is little you know. The room had plenty of space. I actually found it refreshing. This place is more of what I would expect to find in a American hotel. It was perfect after staying in some super tiny places while traveling in London the week prior to our stay. Right across the street is were the city of Dublin hop on hop off bus tours start. It's a good way to get around for cheap, and you learn a lot! The only thing i didn't like about this hotel was the restaurant. It was an Asian buffet style thing. They have a nice bar though if that's what your into. If I ever find myself in Dublin again i'm not even going to consider staying anywhere but here! Read more
"Great Stay!"
My brother and I stayed in the hotel for a vacation and it was an excellent hotel! The location is right in downtown Dublin off O'Connell. We checked out and came back a few days later and my brother had left is adapter. They had it for him at the front desk! Overall it was a great stay, safe, clean rooms and very comfortable.

"Best Western Academy Plaza Dublin, Ireland"
Although your hotel is in an ecellent position in the city I found that your charges were very Much in excess for the room I was allocated. The room was very small, the bathroom door could not fully open without hitting the toilet, in fact it was very claustrophobic. Never worth the price charged. I am in a best Western in Limerick and the room here […] is a palace compared to your location in Dublin. Read more
"Best Western Plus Academy Plus"
Very good location. Right at the Airport bus stop and also very close to all the city center sights
"Great Location and value"
Right off O'Connell Street, right where Airlink bus drops off from the airport. All the major attractions are well withing walking distance. I didn't use it, but the hop on-hop off City Tour bus picks up right at the door as well, if that's your thing. Rooms a little small (as they tend to be in downtown hotels in major European cities), but we were […] rarely in as we toured all over the city. Very comfortable bed. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone Read more

"Great location - Room 421 tiny"
A truly great location. Centrally located just off of O'Connell street but much quieter. Tour buses pick you up just outside the front door if you're into that. We took a bus tour our first day as a way to get to know the city while suffering from jet-lag. The hotel is modern, bright and clean. The rooms are very nice. Our room 421 was "knock your knees" […] small. That's not too unusual for European hotels but somewhat disappointing for a 4 star hotel. We had great nights sleep (important to us) and were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. We would stay at the Academy again, but request a larger room if they exist. Read more
"Nice Place"
This hotel was very convenient to sight see in Dublin. Hop on hop off bus tours had a stop right in front of the hotel and cabs were always available. The staff was very good as was the breakfast. Rooms were very clean, but ours was a bit small. You can pay a little higher rate for a bigger room. Overall we were very satisfied with this hotel.
"Best Western Plus Academy Plaza Hotel"
Perfectly located for tours and sightseeing, clean comfortable room at a reasonable price for Dublin, helpful friendly staff. would definitely stay there again!
"great location, nice hotel"
Perfect location. Great staff that was friendly helpful and overall excellent. The bar was very welcoming and the coffee bar a plus. Clean, quiet, everything you need. Also, there is a fantastic restaurant (I don't remember the name but it had a ship 'theme') across the street that was one of the best meals we had in Ireland. I highly recommend this […] hotel. "Very small room but comfortable."
The room was extremely small; we could barely walk around the bed. But there was AC and the room was quiet. The bed was a queen size but not very firm. Make sure you know exactly how to get there in advance. It is not easy with the one way streets.
Service was great and staff was very friendly and helpful but the hotel was rather run down and needed maintenance. We had a bathroom leak and the carpet in the room was soaking wet.
"Nice hotel"
Nice hotel in a good location. They have problems with their wireless internet though, so if you need wireless in your room don't stay here.

"great room perfect location"
Best bed I slept on in 6 weeks of travelling in Europe staying at similar properties. Right off O'Connell St near Parnell Square and central to all the sights. Very clean, and the desk helpful:changed some currency, told me about the 6 euro bus from their door to the airport.
"The Best Western in Dublin-close to tour bus stop"
This hotel is just steps away from tour bus stop, shopping and much more. I had an air conditioned room and internet with a strong signal. I was able to use my laptop and ereader without a problem. I traveled alone so the small room was not an issue, but it was small. You could walk around the bed and to the bathroom but that is it, just a step in either […] direction. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel lobby was perfect to gather with traveling companions or to just sit back and read and also had a couple of computers setup to check your email if you needed. I would highly recommend for the tourist. Read more
"Best Western Plus Academy Plaza-In Dublin's heart"
I went on a CIE tour with my sisters in July 2011but wanted to see more of Dublin than the tour allowed for so I came 3 days early and stayed at this Best Western by myself. The hotel is just steps from O'Connell Street, Dublin's main street so I had access to good food, fast food (where I was able to buy large Cokes without having to take out a second […] mortgage) , an official Ireland Tourism office for my 1000 questions and lots of safe ATMs. All I had to do to find all of this was walk around the corner from my hotel. I had a single room which was somewhat similar to the dimensions of a cruise ship bedroom but it was a well designed space with the BEST bed I experienced over my 11 day visit and I stayed in much more expensive rooms on my CIE tour. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly too. Thanks to an overnight flight from the US to Ireland, I was at the hotel by 8:30 a.m. even though I couldn't check in to my room till 3:00. Seeing my plight, the front desk staff offered me the FREE use of the hotel's locked luggage room so I left my luggage there and wondered all around the downtown area without having to haul my suitcase with me. They were always available to answer my questions too. The only thing I'd change is I wouldn't get the 10 Euro extra breakfast which you have to sign up for the day before. It was a very good and plentiful breakfast but with so many food places close by, I could have found decent food for less--a small quibble though. I would stay in this hotel again in a heartbeat!! "Academy Plaza, Dublin"
Stayed here for 2 nights, receptionist friendly, easy check-in. Rooms were quite small, but perfectly adequate, bed comfortable and great shower. Some noise from other inconsiderate guests slamming doors, but apart from that, no other issues. Tried the chinese buffet in abacus restaurant, reasonably priced and good selection, Eva very polite. You can […] get the number 4 or 7 bus to RDS from around the corner, very handy and great central location, would stay again Read more
"awesome location, great little bar downstairs"
Overall awesome for me. The bed was comfy, great location off O'Connell & all all the shops, pubs, restaurants you could want. Easy access to the airport, nice bar I used a lot! Good buffet, great food. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else, I got 2 nights for cheap it was a great deal.
"Not worth the money"
This hotel is located close to major destinations, but the neighborhood isn't that great. We felt the hotel was way overpriced. The room was small, the bathroom was tiny with only a shower, and there were only desk chairs for sitting.
"great location, great service"
This hotel is a great location! It's on the north side of the Liffey, and although you hear that all of action is on the south side (which is basically true) this location allows you to be close enough to walk to everything, but allows you to get away from all the noise in the evening. The bar/restaurant next door to the hotel pours the perfect Guinness, […] complete with shamrocks imprinted into the foam! It's a block off O'Connell street which has atms, bank, restaurants, shopping, taxis, buses, and just about anything else you might need. Can't beat the price, location, or service. Hotel was clean, service was excellent, breakfast buffet was great (pre-pay the night before for a reduced rate), fast elevators, pleasant staff, really couldn't complain. Easy walk to everything. The only thing we couldn't get was a refrigerator in our room, but hey, it probably wouldn't have fit anyway. The rooms are tight by U.S. standards, but by european standards, they are quite roomy. Had a blast in Dublin!!! Read more
"Best Western Premier Academy hotel Dublin"
Wonderful hotel except the bar on one side. I recommend booking a room in the hotel on the side that doesn't have the outside bar. After being up until 3:00AM with loud noise from the bar, I asked and received a change of room for the following night. That room was very quiet. The bar is not owned by the hotel. Lovely hotel otherwise.
"Great Value and excellent location"
The free internet is an outstanding perk which offsets how strict they were with checkout times.
"First Time in Ireland"
Friendly staff, clean room, great location. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay at this hotel.
"Location, Location, Location & Affordable!!!"
This little jewel is located very near Oconnell Street, the first stop for hop on hop off bus in Dublin and Aircoach Airport pickup/delivery. It is just a short distance to schlep your suitcase and spend the afternoon getting to know the city via hop on hop off. Also very close to public bus transportation. No wasting time trying to find transportation. […] Also there is free WiFi and two computers downstairs in the lobby VERY affordable with nice clean rooms and spotless bathroom. Walking to the center of town, Temple Bar, the Famine Memorial and other sites is a breeze. The staff was wonderful and helped me book two back to back tours to Wicklow and Blarney Castle. The breakfast is a bit pricey (10 Euro if you book in advance) but there are a lot of little places on Oconnell Street that run around 5 Euro. I travel a great deal for pleasure and this hotel was recommended to me by a very good friend who is also travel sauvy. It did not disappoint. Trust me, you won't be sorry! Read more

"Small Room, Good location"
Everything was average about this hotel and room. Only think noteable is that the room was very small but it was very close to non touristy shopping and places to eat. I would recommend it but wouldn'y stay there again myself, room was way to small from me and my 6'4 husband.
