They really need to train their front desk personnel better. We had to get 3 different sets of card keys to the room before she realized she didn't have the machine plugged in. I had requested a villa, but they only gave us access to half of it and finally realized the next day they forgot to open the adjoining portion. At this point we were so cold […] and tired we didn't care. I had tried to call housekeeping to get at least a rollaway bed and so extra blankets & pillows and was told they couldn't take anything out of the main hotel area. When we arrived at the hotel a little after 4 which was check-in time we were told our room wasn't ready they would call us when it was. There were a lot of people like us waiting in the lobby. We waited until 5:15 to get our room and we had to be showered and at an event by 6!!!!!! We were 30 minutes late thanks to this. And when we did get a room […] the ac was broken so it was VERY uncomfortable trying to shower and get ready. We asked to have our room changed due to the ac and the other room was the same way. They said they would get it fixed soon and we were skeptical about that but they did. The staff in the piano bar was more worried about socializing with other staff then waiting on the guests!!! First room was musty, no tv's working and felt like ac hadn't been on in months. When we called about the tv the repair technician stated they were not supposed to book the room yet because it had been trashed before and needed complete work done and it was not done. Offered to get us another tv. They had a wedding party the same night that was so loud […] that no one in our room got any sleep. We had been in a room that overlooked the ballroom area. When we talked to staff they moved us to another room and we had a much better stay on our second night but not sure we would go back again after all of the hassle. The balcony was not cleaned and had quite a few cobwebs. The bathroom looked great until I went to take a shower and found someone else's hair all over the walls. That was just disgusting! This hotel is really nice if you don't mind the details. First there are hidden charges. Do not expect to only pay what you book the hotel for. There is multiple resort fees and overnight parking fees. I paid an addition $79 when I checked out. There are ZERO vending machines in this hotel. You have to call room service for anything, even ice. NO refrigerator. […] Only an expensive minibar. What kind of high end hotel has a gravel parking lot?? This one apparently. Its about 150 yards from the hotel if you don't want to pay $15 to valet. Also, the beds are not comfortable. I think they go for more style over comfort. I wont be staying here again. Read more

The only complaint is the service. The reception staff just gave us a map and didn't inform us of anything else. The pool bar was closed on sunday. The restaurant people didn't know we were there until almost time to leave. No sodas machine in the floors only in the bar. Watch for the prices, everything was expensive.

The hotel was very nice but upkeep appears to lacking. Small details were very apparent. The furniture was slightly damaged. Many of the walls were scratched or marked from objects hitting them. Although these were minor details there were too many to miss. For such a nice hotel the condition was surprising. The only real complaint was the diner service. […] After a long day we arrived at the hotel wanting to have dinner. We looked in the main structure for a restaurant, several were listed, but only found a cafe and piano bar. At that point we elected to spend the extra money and have room service. This was a treat for me since I had never had it before. To shorten this my wife and I had steak @$29.00 a plate, ouch, between the us and our two kids we were serve cold food lacking in flavor to a bill of approximately $140.00. Items were ordered were missing. It was a very poor experience. Hence to say I will never risk room service again. For such an expensive resort I could only rate it 3 out of 5. Read more

It was overall a nice place. The size of the room was fabulous, and I loved having the separate bath and shower. My only complaints were that the wet bar was turned off (full but off) AND I didn't appreciate having load my own luggage when the valet brought the car around. My experience has always been that they take care of .

This is a 4 1/2 star hotel with a 2 star restaurant. The waitstaff was young, attentive and enthusiastic, if not particularly experienced. The food was bland and unimaginative, at best. The steak and potatoes were served literally at room temperature and the risotto with the sea bass was salty to being inedible. The house wines were actually pretty […] good. Understand the waitress herself on one occasion, commented on working at a restaurant of fine dining. My wife and I live next to New Orleans and often travel to New York, but love our road trips to our SEC opponents best of all. Yes we will stay here again and look forward to it! After we booked our stay, the hotel put out a 2 for 1 or half price groupon. The promotion was very successfull and the hotel was full, though they were geared up for a fradtion of the capasity. The issues started with valet, continued with service from the desk people, delay in getting the room ready, beach towels, I could go on. The staff working […] with the kids was awesome good. The facilitiy itself is pretty nice. I gave hotel staff a chance to "make it right" (like extended check out or comp breakfast) and was told I would be contacted by phone by management. The staff was awesome. The only draw back was the location of the rooms of the golf villas being far from the pool area. Staff was very helpful on transporting us to the pool though.

Overall, La Torretta was just OK which is a disappointment. My family went here over the Fourth of July week and it is clear that the staff is just not into serving you very well. The coffee shop was a complete disappointment as were the other eating facilities. The Aqua Park could be good if they kept it clean and running (Lazy River was closed). The […] Fitness Center is nice and our room was nice (except for one of the TVs did not work), but the rest of the place just needs more support staff to keep it in good condition everyday. It took us an hour to check in because the 20 something girl working the front desk could not find our reservation. Standing in the lobby with four kids while she searched was very frustrating. When we came back at night we tried to call for sheets but couldn't get housekeeping to answer. Check in was horrible, the Lake Villa rooms we confirmed 3 hours before leaving for Hotel were switched to Tower rooms. We had to wait 2 hours for check in, and they said they had a cancellation so they could put us in the rooms we reserved. There was x-rated trash left on our patio that shouldn't be seen anywhere. The maid didn't clean the windows […] or patio, the patio windows were so dirty with hand prints it was terrible. The hotel's restaurant closed at 9 on a holiday weekend, so we had to have pizza delivered. This is a huge resort outside of Houston, and a very busy place, however they were understaffed at the front desk, and everyone checking in was mad. The grounds around our room was full of weeds and looked overgrown. The only nice thing was how nice our rooms were decorated. There was no place to get ice, we had to go to Walmart to buy some. Check out was the best part, someone standing near our room for express check out so we didn't have to walk over to the main hotel. Read more

When we checked into the hotel and none of the valet attendants offeredto help us with our luggage. We walked around to find someone and asked for a cart and the guy simply stated " they were out". My husband and I had to haul our baby, 3 suitcases, stroller, travel crib and ice chest to our room without the help of anyone. We have stayed at many resorts […] and never have had this happen. Also, when calling down to see if they could pull our car up so we could leave we are told that valet is too busy to answer the phone.
