Old Town Western Inn & Suites - San Diego 32.75001, -117.19444

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights and we are more than happy. Staff helpful, nice and honest - even got a thank you note from the room cleaning staff for our tips. I strongly disagree with the negative reviews about the hotel - it is not five star but neither is the rate. Thank you to the team at the hotel - good work.

The hotel was clean, the rooms large and the location amazing. The hotel is three blocks from the restuarants and bars in Old Town. This is a 2 star hotel but we all thought it perfect for a guys golf trip.

The breakfast was too poorly. You had to eat stand up. They don;t have chair to be seated during it. I think the cost room per night is too high for this hotel. If the hotel will drop the rate probably it will be better

The hotel is old and a little worn down, but I found it very clean. Some of the hotel staff were very nice, the day manager was not very friendly, but I guess not rude either. The only two compaints were that the pillows were a bit hard, and there walls were a bit thin and you could hear the other guests coming in at all hours. The location was really close to Old Town, and really convenient to the freeway.

I was starting to get aprehensive after reading the bad reviews, but I decided to be the judge for myself. Out of the 6 or so hotels within close proximity to Old Town, this one is the cheapest and it is a good room for the price you pay! It is within walking distance to Old Town. I did not see any rats, or torn carpeting, pipes coming out of the walls in the bathroom, mold, dirty sheets, none of that. If you are not going to live in your hotel room, and are just going to use it to sleep then its great! The parking is $6, it does not have a pool, and the picture of the room they show in the picture looks exactly like the room I got. I felt I needed to defend this hotel after all the horrible reviews =)

If you want walking-distance convenience to Old Town, and are prepared to accept frayed and torn carpet and cracked, worn and dirty bathroom fixtures in exchange for a good price then this is a good place for you.

After reading other scary reviews, I attempted to cancel, however I was too late and didn't want pay the penalty. so I went and it was nice, clean and quiet. I would recomend it to anyone. Breakfast was weak and $6.00 parking is too much. regards

it was clean ,but smell bad,no air circulation,only air cond.the toilet was small and loose,had a fire hazard ,wires hanging from the recipticle away from the wall,on side of the bed. holes on wall repeired with a patch,the some as in the bathroom,the water was smelly.we had to leave one day early becouse of it.we complain to no avail they just say to complain to you.rating .....none

I was not Impressed with the room, the pic they have does not match the room where we stayed. The pic looks nice and new the room we had looked old and the bathroom needed some work-tub! I will not stay there again.

Our stay here was pleasant. the hotel is older, but comfy. friendly staff. they shipped my daughters doll to us when she left it behind. would stay again for the price and location.

I was not satisfied during my stay at the Western Inn at all. Once I turned on the light in the room I immediately noticed a roach on the nightstand. When it scuttered away I pulled out the nightstand to see if it was behind it so that I could kill it, and quickly saw ANOTHER bug (not a roach)which I immediately killed. I was disgusted but it was late so my boyfriend decided to stick it out. Upon observation of the remainder of the room, I saw a lot of crumbs laying around (especially in the corners of the room), and I even found an m&m candy!!! I was extremely disgusted with this room, would never return to stay, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. It was no where near the price that I paid for it. Oh, and I had to pay for parking also!!!! What hotel does not offer free parking to it's guests?!?!?!

the 1st night the heater kept the room so hot we had to turn it off. The second night, which was cooler, the heater blew cold air for hours until we turned it off. The one bag of coffee left for us had a hole in it. Wasn't too pleased with that. HOWEVER, everyone there was very nice and the room was quiet.

The room was decent for the money we spent. If you stay here, be prepared to pay for every little thing. Like parking. The guest service was good though. I had trouble connecting my lap top to their printer for my .20 cent per page printing and the front desk attendant offered a less conventional method of printing my paper. He didn't charge Me.

The best and probably the only good thing about the hotel is the conveince of its location. I needed to go to my brother's marine graduation and it's pretty much across the freeway so it was sooooo conveinent but the hotel stank, my toilet seat was wobbly, there were spider webs, the carpets were terribly stained and need to be changed, they gave shampoo and no conditioner, i did not get glasses that were suppose to come with the ice bucket. The pillows were almost non existant and the beds had my back aching for 2 days. Breakfast is cold cereal and hard muffins and coffee down in their VERY SMALL check in area and there's no where to sit. It was cheap but i think they really do need to renovate the place!!

Small, old hotel with warm staff and clean room. Great value considering how much we paid for this hotel. Good choice for couple and friends. With the free internet, we were able to play our Nintendo DS online~~Add more fun to the trip!!

This hotel is in a great general location. It was minutes away from historic Old Town and one highway exit from Sea World. It's in a quiet part of town, and worth every penny.

Our rooms were standard, nothing exceptional. The bigest problem was there is no light in any of the 3 rooms we had. So dark with all lights on that we couldn't find things in our suitcases. Great location to old town, walk to restaurants. Would use again if needed to.

I simply needed a cheap place to stay for one night, and this fit the bill. It was the cheapest hotel I could find that was close to the airport. The room looked and smelled like I payed the price I did. It was safe and mostly clean, and that was all I needed.

The parking is quite cramped, but considering the area it is understable. The continental breakfast is on the very lean side. I saw some minor maintnenace issues that could be repaired. Overall, for the cost of the room,its location and using the room for one nigth of sleep, I would use this hotel again.

Broken computer in lobby, cab was late. Very, very close to airport.

The hotel has a great locations and room are very clean and large. I use to stay at another hotel before but the last few times I have stayed at the Western Inn and will always stay here from now on. The Service was also great and the free wireless internet was great not like other hotels you have to pay. The only bad point is the parking is small.

The room we were given was not clean and there was a used condom in the trash can. We were placed in a room next to the ice machine and elevator, so noise throughout most of the night.

Hotel was run down, but the location was right up the street from the heart of Old Town.

Overall the stay was nice, however there was only one negative remark which was the parking. We had to pay $6.00 for parking which we did not expect to pay. This Hotel is not a High end Hotel that would warrent a parking fee. In the evening the parking lot was pretty empty, however the street parking was full...something to consider.

I read the comments posted on hotels.com, and therefore had low expectations to OTWI. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and we did not hear any noise from neither other guests nor the highway. The only thing that did not meet our expectations was the breakfast. It was just coffee, some cereal and muffins placed on a table in the lobby, no place to sit. Overall I would recommend this hotel, but I still think it is a bit pricy.

This hotel has a great location to old town so restaurants are near by as well as a lot of intersting hisorical landmarks. The interior rooms need a little work new mattresses, mirror vanities and updated sinks but hey this is only one and half stars so I wasn't expecting much, for a budget hotel close by to many activities it met my needs. You do have to pay to park in the garage which I feel should be included but you could probably find street parking if you wanted.

The price is very reasonable. It is located with in easy walking distance from the Old Town Transportation center. I didn't need to rent a car. The train ride to the gas light district is 11 min.

In need of renovation

Hotel was priced right in an expensive San Diego market. Proximity to Old Town and freeways good. Room could use some upgrading, as it appears worn, from obvious over use. Free breakfast was very limited with restricted hours. Generally, rooms were clean and outdoor surroundings seemed maintained. Elevator extremely slow, seems like I spent most of my time waiting for it to arrive at my second floor.

My stay was very comfortable. I liked how close the hotel was to old town. The area was very safe to walk, even late at night. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable to sleep. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I will stay here again.

I did not like the smell in the room, and it need refreshing, new paint, beds etc.

Pros: big beds, very easy walk to old town and lots of restaurants Cons: thinnest walls in the world, kind of smelly, not the most comfortable beds. Overall: if you just need a place to crash for a night on your way somewhere else, this would be fine. Probably don't spend more than a night here.

I am not a picky person at all but this place was awful and we only stayed one night and then luckily found another place. The roon was wet...the carpets, the sheets and the towels. It reaked of mold and mildew like I have never smelled before in my life!!! And on top of that, my mom woke up in the morning with 7 bites on her backside from the bed...so disgusting! I even paid an extra night that we didn't stay b/c we wanted out so much!

they have many ways to get more money outta you,besides thier continental breakfast is nothing but coffee and muffins, they don't even offer milk for the kids.i'll never recomend this place to anyone unless i hate that person.
