Just one block away from our plaza destination for my girlfriend and I's 1 year anniversary. Great room on the 3rd floor - even had a staircase inside that went down to the 2nd floor. Unfortunately, we, along with most of our neighboring guests, were woken up by a fire alarm (an alarm […] was in each room) at about 8:15 in the morning apparently due to someone "burning popcorn in their room". (not entirely sure who eats popcorn that early in the morning, but to each his/her own) While happy that Chimayo decided to throw in a free wake up call for us it would have been nice if it came about an hour later. This was a great place to stay. Right on the square, so we could explore and see everything and be right back at our room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We loved our room and the bedding was great. Very quiet area, didn't hear any noise from surrounding rooms.

Staff is top notch. I've stayed at a lot of places and they rate in the top 5%. The location can't be beat and rustic rooms are what Santa Fe is all about. Food at the hotel wasn't the best; however, when you stay on the square there are so many other options you don't need this option.

Visited Santa Fe recently and selected Hotel Chamayo for its central location. Front desk was very helpful and friendly with making travel and entertainment arrangements. This hotel is half a block from the square--very convenient. I was not expecting a sitting room, much less a working fireplace AND a porter to lay and light the fire. This hotel is in a great location, close to everything in downtown Santa Fe. The price was reasonable, the room was very spacious, it was quiet and comfortable. Very good choice for downtown Santa Fe. The daily parking fee at the hotel's garage was $15.

Not even a block from the historical square, and also very close to Artist Rd. for the drive to the ski mountain. The best of both worlds. Hotel seemed very well maintained, and was very clean. This was our first visit to Santa Fe. We arrived in the evening and the hotel front desk person greeted us promptly. The hotel was built in the late 1800's so it was quite interesting. Our room was very nicely decorated in rustic southwest decor. However, there was a staircase in the middle of the room leading down to two locked doors. If I hadn't been […] with my husband, I would have asked for another room! I read another review of someone else who must have had this same room, so I was not that surprised when I saw it. They must give this room to people who book online. I would think that they would like to make a good impression on first time guests and NOT give them this particular room. If you book here, I suggest you ask for a room without a staircase in the middle! Other than that, the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We had a meeting at the convention center early in the morning so we could just walk the two blocks there. Check out time was noon so we had time after our meeting to walk to the shops and the cathedral. We plan to return to this hotel next time we are in town. Read more

We especially liked the location of this hotel - only steps from the plaza. The staff at all Heritage hotels are friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant were excellent and you must try the fried hot dogs! Parking underground was a welcome surprise.

started off bad as they did not have my specific room reserved. staff did what they could to accommodate but in the end, disappointed that room was not what i paid for. however, the location was perfect and you can't beat the price for being in the middle of everything. will probably return and give them another shot next time i visit.

We come to Santa Fe about once a year, and this was our first time to stay here. We loved our room, the "Low and Slow Bar "downstairs had a fun bartendar, and had a romantic dinner by the fireplace in the hotel restaraunt upstairs. Have already been recommending this hotel to friends and posting pics on our Facebook.

Bar staff and Restaurant staff were exceptional. "Jay" (at the front desk) is a super hero when it comes to locating fun things to do while in town. Only negative was that the maid service missed cleaning our room one day (there was a snow storm that contributed to the melee, I believe). Loved the undergrouond parking, too!

I think the working fireplaces and bunches of red chiles charmed us immediately. The restaurant breakfast was fantastic too. The prevalence of religious icons and especially crosses hanging on the walls and a huge cross over our bed left us mystified and slightly intimidated though.

It is an older facility and they have kept the atmosphere of Santa Fe intact. My room was nicely laid out and well decorated. Unfortunately some of the amenities I would have expected weren't there. Minor perhaps but necessary for me. No elevator for the room I received. Ice in the garage basement but no vending machine for soft drinks and snacks. My […] room didn't even have an ice bucket or plastic glasses that are always present in hotel rooms. To get any snacks or meals I had to go out into the city (admittedly very close by) or go to the little hotel restaurant to do my own take out. No room service. Food was good however. They tried to be helpful but some of the staff must have been new and didn't know how to do basic hotel operations. Maybe they're in transition ownership. I don't know. As a last bit of information, I have to admit that I'm an older person who needs more comforts than most. Seems to me the basic hotel comforts should have been here. Read more

Hotel over rated for price. Sheets were frayed and lighting poor. If you have a breathing disorder, the fire places in first floor rooms will be a problem as much smoke in outside area. Location perfect and staff wonderful, but I will not stay there again.

We have stayed at this Hotel for years and have seen it change owners a lot. We like to stay close to the Plaza so we can walk everywhere. The people covering the front desk were not very friendly and seemed like they wanted to get back to their office (behind the desk ) as fast as they could. They had called us during the day and asked us to move to […] the stster hotel ,St Francis. We refused. The hotel did not seem full so I am not sure what their reason was. Also the house keeping did not clean our room until 6PM. Had to ask several times. Some of the inprovements are great. The outside patio and live entertainment is used by the locals a lot. Staff was unavailable. Desk person was always sitting in the back room chatting when I came to the front desk. I could see her back there and had to call out to her for help. We had to shut the toilet off at the wall that night because water was shooting out of the filler valve. This hotel is in need of renovation. If you have a car you're charged for parking at the hotel although there's not always a parking space available. Our room was missed for a daily clean...front desk was great at directions and overall very helpful. Small bathroom and the smoke detector went off daily because of the steam from the shower.
