Great hotel! Did not expect to find a "lobby" on the 8th floor but once located it was check in as usual. We took advantage of the concierge and highly recommend this caring staff. They suggested wonderful restaurants and steered in in the right direction for shopping requests. They really provided that extra caring in looking out for our group. "overall great stay"
Everything was great about the hotel, especially the front desk. The hair that was not mine on the "new" towels was not so great. Nor was the flooded bathroom every time I took a shower. Otherwise, the location was pretty great too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good 4 star hotel, but not a 5 star"
We spent a night to catch a flight the next day. Good 4 star hotel, but not a 5 star like the Shangri-la or Four Seasons. Rooms are clean, but decor older than others. Location is good for CBD, but has no views of the city. It is a 10 minute walk to circular quay as well as darling harbour. Great shopping next door. Price was very good for the valu […] e. Superb location for a business trip in Sydney. Everything is within walking distane, from the CBD to Circular Quay and Darling Harbor. Great park two blocks away for a run or walk. Trains and busses also within a block or two.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great stay in Sydney!"
Hotel is right in the middle of the city. Surrounded by a bunch of shops! And if you don't mind walking it is walking distance to all the key tourist spots. I walked to The Rocks, Darling Harbor, The Harbor Bridge, Circular Quey, Sydney Opera House and Chinatown and Paddys Market. OHH YEA also the beautiful botanical gardens :) woke up early and went […] for a run every morning I was there through the gardens. The hotel staff always very helpful with directions. "Terrific Oasis in Sydney's Best Area"
Sydney is a vibrant city and the Swissotel is perfectly located for easy walking to Darling Harbor, Chinatown, Circular Quay (for catching ferries to the Taronga Zoo, Manly, and suburbs--do these local ferries instead of the tours). The Opera House and the Royal Botanic Garden are also within walking distance. The Swissotel is a lovely, calm retreat […] after a busy day of sightseeing. The staff is very friendly and helpful; they offer terrific suggestions and address any problems swiftly. I would stay at any Swissotel anywhere else in the world for their exceptional quality of service and accommodation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Only so so for the brand name and price.."
This place although in a good location really does not live up to the Swissotel name. Our room had bubbly carpet and it really was quite old in style. The hotel staff were decent but not overly accommodating. The hotel also has a funky double elevator situation from the street mini lobby to the main lobby which is just annoying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Enjoyed our stay in this hotel. I have been to Sydney a few times and I can't imagine a much more convenient location if you are looking for a good central locale and the best shopping venue. The quality of the hotel overall was 5 star. I would not pay for any more and would not settle for less. Clean, quality and reasonably priced. Certainly there […] are 5 star hotels in Sydney for those who want the very best, however for the average traveler this is going to do the trick. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Experience the warmhearted greeting!"
The reception staff who greeted us at check-in welcomed as if long lost friends or family returned, and all the restaurant staffs were superbly kind with smile. The rooms we stayed was a classic type and the interior was very simple and minimumly furnished. But that gave us more space, and the two full size beds fit for a family of four comfortably. The hotel is well located in the central business district of Sydney. The St. James metro stop is within walking distance to the hotel. Was an OK hotel not excellent and not worth the price. cups and glasses not clean and smelly. pool water too cold to swim, even in the summer. "Great hotel for a family in central city location"
Great hotel for a family of 4. The pool was a nice amenity to have although the water was a little cold. The central location is convenient for many activities such as those at Darling Harbour. The monorail is close and very user friendly. The down side of the central city location is that the streets and sidewalks are often very busy and crowded. "Less than expected"
Have stayed @ Swiss hotels before this does not make the grade. Concierge desk was not helpful with incorrect info, baggage handlers could not understand directions, reservations was a disaster. Room was clean but small, parking for $55. Per night was over the top.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved everything about our stay at the Swissotel for 11 nights. Our room was on the 15th floor, with the Sydney Tower outside our window. The location is perfect, in the heart of downtown Sydney. "Perfect location for sightseeing!"
Rooms are nice, the hotel lobby is on the 8th Floor, and all rooms are above that, so you pretty much have an awesome view whatever floor you are on. The Crossroads bar has recently been renovated, and seems a lot more secluded/private now than it used to be, good for an evening nightcap. In the heart of the CBD, this hotel is in a great location for […] those wanting to see and get around Sydney. 10 minute walk to the wharf where you have the Opera House, view of the Bridge, countless bars/cafes/restaurants and regular ferries going out to Manly Beach, Taronga Zoo.. etc.. Across from the hotel entrance is the Queen Victoria Building (QVB), walk through there for 5 minutes to get to the subway/train station, which has trains every 3-4 minutes or so going out to Bondi Junction, use this to get you within 15 minute walk of Bondi/Coogee/Tamarama beaches.. Perfect for shopping as well with entrances to the mall(s) in nearly every direction! Wireless internet cost is steep!! $25 for 1 day, but it's a little better if you are there for a while, you can choose the 7 day option for $70. To me that seems at least a little more acceptable, still harsh though! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The service was outstanding -- the concierge and front desk staff go the extra mile. Easy 5 minute walk to Darling Harbor, 15 minute walk to Circular Quay & Botanical Gardens. Lovely hotel, had some problems but they were quick to take care of. Good location. Would stay there again when in Sydney.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
There was no electrical outlet for blow dryer or curling iron in the bathroom. There was an extra cost for wireless internet access. With the high room cost, the hotel should not have charged extra for this.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Swissotel Sydney - Excellent location"
Excellent location, very clean and new, comfortable beds, friendly competent staff. Definately recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This Hotel is a mediocre 4* Hotel. Nothing fancy but far from a 5*. Internet access is freaking expensive, go to McDonalds in the same block for free access. Small rooms, small TV, Entry at street level is strange: A cleaning room is much bigger than that. Personell is friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were VERY dissatisfied with the fire alarm going off at 2:30 AM and the hotel had no representative on the street exit. They seemed not to care that we had just walked down 20 flights of stairs. The management offered NO APOLOGY. We were disgusted. The alarm turned out to be a false alarm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"More like 3 star"
The hotel had a nice location but was not "5 star" quality. The first room they gave us was dirty. The room we stayed in had boring decor and there were things like broken tiles on the tub, cracked trimmings, etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Room wanted an upgrade but service was excellent"
We were a little underwhelmed by the room considering it was advertised as 5 star and were treating ourselves on a staycation in town. There were the extra touches like toiletries you'd expect but all the furnishings were on the old side and took away from the experience a bit, like the ancient lighting control panel. Luckily that *did* extend to the […] old style mini bar which we were able to use as a fridge though. We were quite happy with the stay overall, cocktails at the bar were delicious, staff at the bar, desk and luggage counter was stellar. We already knew the location was excellent, but being next to Myer had the added bonus of being next to the underground walkway which was helpful when the famous Sydney afternoon rain hit. Good (low) view of centrepoint from our room made it fun too. I'd go again and would still recommend, but would probably think twice unless it was a very good deal as it lacked a certain luxury feel in the room itself. We were in the base rate room. "Great room after we moved!"
We booked a room for 2 nights over the web. The rates were standard for Sydney CBD and the hotel is in a fantastic location. The lobby is on the 8th floor and is very impressive when you arrive. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful with check in. Our first room was quite small, but had the essentials. Much to our dismay, our room key wouldn't power […] the lights properly, so our lights would turn on and off. The second issue was the bathroom, which had a full disabled bathroom. This would be fine except that we are a young couple and the room space was taken up by rails that we didn't need! The floor was also sticky. After 60 minutes and two calls to the front desk to fix the lights we went down to reception. The staff were very professional, apologized for the delay in service and upgraded us to a new room. The room was large, quiet and beautifully decked out with marble. After we changed rooms our experience could not have been better! We would stay here again, but would check the condition of the bathroom! A great hotel, a top location and wonderful staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
