My husband and I stayed for the first 6 nights of our Sydney trip at the Swissotel. This is an awesome hotel! The location is very central with an easy walk to Circular Quay, the Opera House, museums, not to mention bars, shopping and tons of restaurants. The room was very comfortable and modern. And the staff are incredible. Any little question we had, they did everything possible to assist us. I have a hard time sleeping without a fan noise in the background so we called concierge and they somehow dug up a small fan for me to keep in the room during our stay. That's service!

The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating upon arrival. The room was very modern and had plenty of space. The bathroom was also very nice and was great for the five nights in Sydney. The hotel was right next to the QVB, which was great for shopping, but there were not many restaurants in close proximity. However, the underground was only a block away which made it very convenient to get anywhere else in the city. Overall it was a very nice stay and we would recommend it to anyone.

This is a lovely hotel. Excellent staff, realy nice rooms and an excellent location for shopping. However, there is a significant amount of early morning building work next door which woke us up far too early (one morning steelwork deliveries seemed to start around 6am). You have to make sure that your room is way away from this if you decide to stay here whlst the redevelopment next door continues.

We received a great rate at this hotel through hotels.com, so staying here was pretty much a no-brainer. The location is fantastic ,if what you want to see are all the museums and touristy sites. Since it's located between subway stops, you will probably find that walking or taking a bus is your best option. The CBD is very compact, similar to San Francisco, so walking isn't much of a problem. Our biggest surprise in Sydney was the cost of....well, about everything. The breakfast buffet is $30 at the Swissotel. They do offer a 20% off cupon on the full breakfast, so be sure you ask for enough to cover your stay. A family of four will spend $96 a day for breakfast. There are other breakfast options in the area (Silks, VellaNero, or the QVB) that will help you cut that down, but don't expect to get off for less than $15 a person. Lunches and dinners.....well, the price goes up from here. The Swissotel charges $25 a day, or $99 for a week. Finally, if a fitness room is important to you, look elsewhere. For a hotel this size, two treadmills (one was inoperable for a week of our stay) and a set of dumbells just isn't enough. There were people waiting for up to an hour to use the equipment, everyday. All in all a great place to stay if location is your most important need and you don't eat breakfast or workouot.

We stayed at Swisshotel for 9 nights during out honeymoon to Australia. We focused our stay on Sydney so the hotel was centrally located to most major attractions. We walked virtually everywhere we went in just 10-15 minutes. The price was definitely right compared to similarly ranked hotels. Be careful making local calls to a cell phone as in Australia they are charged at long distance rates, better off using a calling card with local number. Also there is no complimentary tea and coffee beyond the first night, after that it gets quite pricey to run the coffee maker, better to go down to the local food court for a cup of joe. We did not try the on-site restaurant but did have a cup of tea in the Crossroads bar. Tea is tea. Room service food was passable but given the prices you should get better food. But they do have gluten-free items on the menu which for anyone who is celiac or gluten-sensitive this is a nice touch. Overall the stay there was nice and the service friendly and helpful. Great bathrooms too!

While the exterior of the entrance did not generate expectations of a good hotel, the moment we crossed the threshold everything became wonderful, from the service to the room with a view. The only downsides were the construction going on in the area, couldn't hear it just had to walk past it; and the lack of knowledge/experience at the conceriege desk about restaurants in the area and in Sydney other than chain restaurants. Other than this, the bellhops and conceriege desk provided excellent services.

We got to the Hotel at 8:30 in the morning after a shocker of a flight from the UK. We knew that the check in was meant to be at 15:00 but we thought we would ask if there was somewhere we could wash and store our luggage before then. The lady at reception was great and freed up a room for us (better than the booked one) and let us check in right there and then! The hotel itself we almost went straight past as there is no big fanfare of an entrance. Instaed there's a concierge desk just off the street leading to a lobby with lifts that take you to the main lobby on level 8. The rooms are very very spacious with great city views. The Bathroom was also the best I had during my 5 weeks in Oz! The location is just great, 5 minutes walk from Darling Harbour and 10 from Circular key, leading you to the Rocks and Opera House.

Comparing to other Swissotels around the world this was not that high quality than the others I have visited. Location was though excellent. The reception staff were terrible. Sometimes it was difficult to speak English with them.. So weird.. One evening we went for a swing to the hotel´s pool. I went to the women dressing room to chance clothes but I couldn´t see any keys for the locker rooms. It took for the almost 25 minutes the staff to find the keys. Okey finally I got my swim but when I went to get a shower there was a heap of poo!!!! Revolting! We had to go to the airport really early in the morning so we asked for the breakfast boxes (apple, apple juice, muffin..) and to call the taxi in advance to take us to the airport. We ate the small breakfast and went to pay our bill. When I ask if our taxi was already waiting for us outside the hotel, the lady said that "perhaps it is, perhaps it is not". Great. Luckily we didn´t have to wait for a long time to get one but still I can´t believe their customer service was that poor. On our way to the airport I started feeling really sick and threw up several times. We were wondering what had I eaten because I felt so bad that I almost couldn´t catch my flight. My boyfriend luckily didn´t have drinken his apple juice and we noticed it was the juice we got from the hotel which was ruined..

The room layout was different in a positive manner - it seemed bigger due to the different layout. The concierge was very helpful and so was the front desk staff. All of our needs, when asked, were met in a timely fashion. Huge bathroom, great pillows, the bed a bit hard but doable. Used the laundry self service - a bit pricey, but convenient.

I was in Sydney Australia to attend the Andre Rieu concert and had the opportunity to stay at the Swissotel in the CBD for nine days. The hotel is in a great location and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms were roomy and clean. Be warned, the windows in the rooms DON’T open and the air conditioning can be drafty. The beds were comfortable but the bedspreads had a look of not being fresh and looked worn. For the quality of this hotel I expected better. WARNING: If you need internet service I would suggest another hotel. Swissotel charges $9.95 for thirty minutes or fraction thereof or close to one-hundred dollars for a week. WARNING: The food served by the JPD restaurant needs to be reviewed by Gordon Ramsey or one of the top reviewers in Australia. I had two meals and both were substandard and lousy. Breakfast was overpriced and the eggs and sausage were stone cold. There are better options in the area or just a quick five minute subway ride to the Circular Quad area. The hotel is close to both the Saint James and Town Hall subway stations. Get yourself a seven day pass and you can ride the subways, buses and ferry’s all you want.
