Don't confuse this with a Boutique Hotel. It's definitely a bland chain hotel, full of what seemed like travelling reps, but as nice as one could possibly expect from a place like that. I really liked the W Silicon Valley. The room was large with some extended stay type features with a kitchen sink, micorwave and refridgerator. The king size bed was very comfy. I slept well in that bed. I would recommend the W Silicon Valley to a friend.

Thi hotel is excellent but theres not much to do around. Whats worse is that the bar doesnt have a tv to watch while you enjoy your drink so the ambience is pretty dead. But the rooms are elegant and just perfect. If its a romantic get away I guess thats all that counts :)

The worst service ever. My wife went to put on the complimentary robe. It was very dirty with make up all over it. That night we pulled back the comforter to get into bed, there were dried blood stains on our sheets. We called the front desk to complain and they assured us somebody would be right up. An hour later, my wife had fallen asleep on the couch, […] no sheets yet. I went down to talk to the manager on duty, they apologized as they forgot to handle it. Assured me somebody would be sent up. So 15 minutes later the security guard arrives and hands me a new sheet. I was expected to change my own bedding. The next day we went hiking. Our room was made up by the time we returned. My wife got in the shower. When she was done, she noticed there were no towels at all. We called the front desk and they apologized and assured us that they would be right up. Thirty minutes later still no towels. Finally after about 45 minutes from the first call we had towels. After complaining again, the hotel offered me a $50 breakfast credit for the next day. The next morning, we ordered our complimentary breakfast. My wife ordered waffles that showed up without any syrup. We had to go downstairs to get syrup for her. By that time of course, they were cold. I ordered bacon, eggs and hash browns. The eggs were like rubber and had a weird taste to them. No salt and pepper on the tray either. After eating the meal anyway, I spent the next few hours feeling sick to my stomach. Read more

Great hotel and lovely decor. The pillows were to soft, the towels were old and rough. The bed was comfy and the room was very clean and nice. My husband loves trendy places and so I went along with it. I'm glad I did. The staff had excellent customer service skills, and check in was so easy. Beautiful hotel, although somewhat remote from restaurants, etc. Easy access to a toll bridge to San Francisco and a short drive to the BART station. Very comfortable and I will stay again when I'm in the San Francisco area.

I have stayed previously at this W twice within the past 2 years, have rated it highly, and have recommended it to others; I can no longer do so. The furnishings are worn and dated, there was hair in the bathroom upon my arrival, music-let me clarify-extremely loud music was blaring from the 1st floor lounge all evening long and past midnight. The printer […] ink cartridge was out of service and I requested that it be replaced to print boarding passes. Two hours later it still was not changed and those who are responsible for changing the cartridges etc had gone for the evening. Trays were left outside of rooms from guests who had ordered room service for an inordinate amount of time and even the outside trashcans were overflowing with trash surrounding the receptacle on the ground for hours.Finally, the Dumbarton bridge was out over the weekend. It would have be a courtesy to alert guests of the outage prior to arrival and alternate transportation routes. As a Starwood member and one who travels rather frequently, this is NOT the type of service I would expect from any hotel, let alone a Starwood property. Read more

This is a nice place, but it's not up to the brand standard. My room was spacious and the amenities were nice, although the stainless steel sink felt more institutional than stylish. The beds were comfortable, but for some reason 1) there were no electrical outlets anywhere near the beds, and 2) the iPod dock for the clock radio did not support charging […] for iPhones. The bar, Relish, did not have a cocktail menu. I didn't think this was possible for the W! Their wine selection was OK, and the food was acceptable but not stellar. Additionally, the "bruleed oatmeal with seasonal fruit compote" demonstrated a failure to know the definitions of "bruleed", "seasonal" or "compote" as it was simply oatmeal with brown sugar and sliced strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. The location is convenient for business, but not much else. You shouldn't be surprised to find that it's in Newark, but it's odd that it's billed as "Silicon Valley". This is not an unpleasant hotel, and it's a good sight better than the wasteland of Great America Parkway in Santa Clara, but it's not really a W -- more an upside-down M. Read more

This is only a W Hotel because it has a huge W plastered on top of it. Obviously it was once a lesser brand hotel that W took over. Our disastrous one night started with having to go up and down the elevator 5 times before we got a set of keys that actually worked in our room door. The heat in the room barely worked and was so darn noisy it was better […] to bundle up and be a bit cold than run it.The bed has to rank up there with one of the 5 worst I've slept in - lumpy with craters... The staff was very nice, but unfortunately it didn't make up for the inadequacies of the hotel itself. The front desk person had told us they were having problems with the system that made the keys and they had someone working on it.
