Although 5 min. from airport, right on train tracks which was noisy. Had non- smoking room booked but our room reeked of smoke. Sheet torn on bed and blankets very thin. Hallways had trash and smelled of smoke. The nite we stayed they put us on 3rd floor (obviously the smoking floor) and the place was empty. Breakfast, standard cereal, juice, rubbery […] hard boiled eggs, dried sweet rolls. Did have the waffle maker and bagels which we opted for. Staff were friendly despite horrible condition of motel. Downtown is not far and would recommend staying there. I paid $93. Could have gotten nicer place dwntwn for same price or slightly more. Read more

This was a very easy place to stay before an early flight. Cleanliness and comfort were just fine. The staff was very nice, competent and helpful. Breakfast begins at 4 a.m. I would certainly choose La Quinta again.

Beware if the cover up smoke odor! The room was smelly from cigarette and the odor eater only made it more nauseating! I. Told the front clerk About it and her response was "sorry! Won't stay there again!!

For the price I paid, I was very impressed with this hotel. It offered free shuttle service to/from the airport (less than 5 minutes away), a cookie at check-in, and a free buffet breakfast (waffles, yogurt, pastries, cereal, etc). The room was very big and the amenities were like that of a higher end hotel (fridge, blow dryer, coffee maker, safe, free […] wi-fi, etc in the room and an indoor pool, fitness room, etc). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though the location near the airport was convenient, there was only a Subway and gas station convenience store within walking distance for food choices. They're a bit disorganized at the desk, but did their best to make it up. We made our reservation for a non smoking room and noted to them that we had small kids with us. Upon arriving late, they gave us a smoking room and thought themselves that it was non-smoking on their 1/2 smoking/ 1/2 nonsmoking floor...we thought that was odd. They apparently […] had a large party come unexpectedly and gave them all the nonsmoking rooms, even though we had a reservation. After complaining about the terrible smell, they upgraded us to a nonsmoking king suite. This worked out great only because they had availability...could've been worse. The rooms are pretty dated, but clean. The air units turn on and off intermittently and were pretty loud which interrupted our sleep. Overall ok. Read more

My husband and I have stayed many times at the La Quinta near the airport in Carter Lake, Iowa and have been very satisfied. I can't say this to be true on our most recent stay. We were given our room key upon arrival. We tried again and again to gain access to the room with this key. To our surprise, a man who'd been sound asleep finally came to the […] door and told us we had the wrong room. Our key, without a doubt was his room number. I also checked with the desk clerk 4 times to reconfirm our 2:00 am wake up call, so we could take the 4:00 am shuttle to the airport. We never did receive any wake up call. Overall good experience. My only complaint was the noise coming from the pool area in the middle of the night when it was supposed to be closed. We liked the hotel, but what we didnt like was the fact our room was right over the party room or a room where a loud party was going. We could totally hear the music. From check in to check out is was for the most part a good experience. We enjoyed meeting 2 different desk clerks and both were very polite and helpful. That being said, we do believe the cigarette smoking should not be done in front of the lobby doors. Even though the clerk is outside smoking it is still not pleasant. I relied on the representation that there was in room WiFi. When I tried to connect I could get their local server, but it did not connect to the internet. I ask for assistance. The desk personel was very pleasant and sympothetic, but could not help and there was no one on duty that had any knowledge of how to correct the problem. There was also no […] one on call to deal with such an issue. Even worse was that the card in the room that gave steps to connect to the internet, had a number to call if there were internet connection issues. I called that number more than once and was advised that they had no association with La Quinta or contract with them to provide help with internet issues. I was never able to connect to the internet. It required me to go to a McDonalds that does seem to know how to provide an internet connection. Read more

The room was in disrepair and dirty, the toilet seat was falling off, the closet doors would not close properly. The walls were dirty with hand stains. The TV remote would not work and when you change the channel at the TV buttons the TV would shut off.

Fresh baked cookies greet you in the evening. Free shuttle to and from downtown or the airport every half hour - you just have to give them a half-hour advance notice. Large, clean rooms. Friendly, helpful staff.

It was pretty brutal walking into a room with no air conditioning on when the temp outside was in the 90's. The bed was uncomfortable and furniture very outdated. However if it weren't for the gross temp would not be too terrible if just spending the night to catch an early am flight.
