Absolutely surprised by the place and the top quality of the hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was another surprised: stayed at El Muelle suite and it just couldn't be any bigger and with a better view. Everything we asked for. Just one minor improvement recommendation for the hotel: the food at the restaurant was good but for this hotel and the price I was expecting a superb dining experience (again, it was fine but should have been superb).
Our stay at Las Balsas was over the top wonderful in all aspects - rooms, service, views, amenities ... and, especially, the food. This hotel well deserves its Relais & Châteaux status.
Attention to detail is assured by the friendly and professional staff - from Nacho at the front desk and Juan Pablo at reservations to the kitchen and room staff - all of whom provide such personalised service that you feel pampered.
The hotel is located on the shores of lake Nahuel Huapi, with easy access by boat and walking to two national parks. Nacho has the expertise and takes great care to help you plan your days so that you can experience the surrounding natural beauty in the Nahuel Huapi and Arrayanes national parks.
The day starts with an ample and beautifully laid out breakfast, including eggs made to your taste. Las Balsas arranged for us to have a daily morning yoga class by the lake. The heated (32C) indoor-outdoor pool is a delight, especially followed by a dip in the cool lake. The massages and the gym are stellar.
Whether you choose to stay on the hotel grounds just enjoying the luxurious atmosphere and views or go on a boat ride or hike, at the end of the day, there is nothing that beats the culinary delights that await you, with a solid selection of wines to choose from.
We are a diplomatic family living in Buenos Aires and Las Balsas came highly recommended by Argentine friends. It went beyond our expectations, especially because of the warmth of the staff and the quality of the service.
We hope to return to Las Balsas for skiing on the nearby slopes in Winter.
Outstanding menu with very tasty dishes. I loved the trout carpaccio with strawberries, unusual and fresh, my husband had the tempura style prawn on a bed of a delicious pear/cucumber/ avocado concoction. The confit of lamb was to die for! and the chocolate tastings sinful. All told a wonderful expereince looking out onto the lake. The service was very good and friendly and the sommelier advised us well.
Finally, after all my sour reviews I can say: Excellent! I'm quite picky in hotels, but Las Balsas is really the one to compliment. Fantastic place on the lake shore, peaceful, pleasant homy atmosphere, cosy rooms, helpful staff, delicious dishes at the restaurant (a tip for ladies - give up your diet, you should try everything. it's really worth it!). Breakfasts are sumptuous, as if a great bakery arrives to give you pleasure for the morning, real brewed tea(not in tea bags), a menu for breakfast guarantees that you will have your omelette, toast or crepes freshly made and prepared the way you like (just ask them).
As the hotel is not overcrowded, you can enjoy spa at any time you wish without a risk of facing too many people. The masseur is qualified, I was happy with a facial treatment, and my husband enjoyed relaxing massage.
We couldn't stop admiring the view on the lake from the window of our room - it's magnificent! And in the morning we were able to watch a family of wild geese on the beach.
I felt very cosy on the sofa in front of the fireplace in the hall, looking through one of the exciting books provided by the hotel for the guests.
Las Balsas is definitely the hotel we will come again for enjoying pleasant moments of life!
A most luxurious and magnificent hotel, right on the water, with a lovely sand beach and the Andes Mountains in the distance. What could be better? Well, the staff is perfect, the food delicious, the building warm and charming. The rooms are a bit small but beautifully appointed and the spa is great. An absolutely delightful spot in a majestic and beautiful place ~
We picked our car up from Bariloche Airport at 10pm which was unfortunate as our flight had been delayed which meant driving the 60 miles in darkness. As it was our first experience of driving in Argentina, on unlit roads and not really knowing where we were going we found it pretty hard to find the lodge. We called them and straight away they told us not to worry and out they came to our rescue!!!! We arrived at 1am and they insisted we sat down and let the chef prepare us some food which was gorgeous! The room was spotless and absolutely charming. When we woke up the next morning we could not believe the beauty before our eyes out of our window. The blue lake, the beach, the odd boat and the calm waters were absolutely breathtaking. All the staff could not do enough for us. The concierge mapped out our day and off we went to explore the area which is stunning. When we returned at 4pm we relaxed by the pool. Dinner was absolutely superb. Before we sat down to dinner we mingled with the other guests, talked to some local Artists who were at the hotel, had a fab glass of wine and canapés to watch the sunset...absolutely idyllic! Having stayed at 5 star hotels all over the world, this Hotel was really something very special and totally unexpected.
This is the perfect relaxation spot on this planet. Close to the "end of the world" an oasis of tranquility and hospitality. A perfect experience making one feel at home from the beginning to the end. I cannot find words to describe the location at the shores of the lake. Simply breathtaking. The tastefully furbished estate and the excellent personalized service complete the picture of this heavenly place. Need to mention the pool and spa area - something not to miss; there is no such thing as sitting in a warm pool and hot tub whilst having the most beautiful scenic view of nature in front. Food: high quality and excellent presentation whilst I would have expected a slight bit more variance in the menu between the lunch and dinner selection but that is a negligible item to mention. Will certainly be back - no doubt!
To be truthful, my experience in this hotel exceeded my expectations. The service is amazing, which is hard to find in Argentina. We caught a fish on a boat ride they organized for us, 15 hours before departure, and the kitchen was happy to cook it, it was delicious. As far as the food goes, it is delicious. The only thing I have to gripe about is the room color which was a bright green, it doesn't bother me personally but I feel like it does not go with the rest of the hotels vibe. The spa is great, Mariela has strong hand and got me stress free in no time. The staff is always willing to help and they are incredibly nice. All in all a fantastic and unforgettable experience.
My wife and I stayed at Las Balsas while on our honeymoon and could not have been happier. We were welcomed into the hotel and told to make ourselves at home, and that's truly what this place did. World class service paired with some of the best food we had on our trip, extremely well-appointed rooms, free wifi and spectacular views make this place THE destination if you're traveling near Bariloche. Although about an hour from the airport and city of Bariloche, Las Balsas is located at the north end of the lake about 5 minutes from a cute town called Villa La Angostura.
We had the best massages of our life, some of the best food of our life, and the views of a lifetime. The service was impeccable, and Nacho, one of the main concierges, gave us excellent recommendations on things to do and where to go. Of all the places we stayed at during our two week honeymoon in Chile and Argentina, this was far and away the best place (and we stayed at some other incredible properties).
Llao Llao is another hotel some would compare to this; although we didn't stay at Llao Llao, we did visit it and we never would have had the same customized, personal experience there that we did at Las Balsas. If you want to stay at a huge, exquisite resort, Llao Llao may be for you; if you prefer equally impressive amenities with a far more personal touch, Las Balsas is for you. If we ever get the chance to come back to Bariloche, there is no other choice than Las Balsas for us.
Gorgeous, small property in northern Patagonia. We flew into Bariloches from Buenos Aires and drove for about 45-60 minutes to the hotel. The town of Villa La Angostura is small but has a few shops and restaurants. Las Balsas is secluded and quiet. The rooms are small and comfortable. Front desk, spa and food first class. The hotel is situated lake-front and the view across the lake towards the mountains is classic.
