New management had done away with character of hotel and old traditions. Ran card for value of stay even though prepaid and hold on funds when finally agreed they had made a mistake. No guest friendly. Lighting so dim in room couldn't read and no light in work area which was remote from main room. Cobwebs in stairwell. My husband and I went to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary as we had not been away on our own for a number of years and I thought a beautiful hotel would be lovely. The staff were very nice/polite and helpful. Our room was not ready however and we had to wait 20 minutes after the official check in time but we were offered tea and coffee while we […] waited which was nice. We were disappointed to find though that when we went to bed we noticed that the bed was in fact two separate beds 'zipped' together which was not comfortable. We were in the newish/less expensive part of the hotel but having paid for a double room we were disappointed. The staff were apologetic but advised that this happens in all hotels! Obviously if you stop in cheaper hotels (such as Travel Lodge) you get a proper double bed! We did enjoy our stay however and wandering round the beautiful old hotel was lovely. Read more

The staff were superb - very attentive. The hotel had a lot of character and was kept beautifully. Our room was lovely. The food was also really good. Dinner was however more expensive than I would have expected .. especially the wine (the cheapest bottle was about £35!)

I stayed here for a one night birthday/valentine getaway. The Lygon is set in a beautiful location on Broadway High Street, just bare in mind that the car park is not that obvious, there is a small entrance at the front of the building however it is normally shut, failing that there is an alternative entrance at the rear which leads to a vast and perhaps […] far away car park which desperately needs tarmac on it as its rough, wet, muddy and full of potholes! The hotel it's self is quite charming, the staff are very attentive and professional. The hotel is characterful and charming but that can't mask that there are very small gripes, for example some decor looks a bit tired, having said that it doesn't really detract too much from the overall aesthetic. The room we stayed in was very nice and overlooked the High Street, the room was warm and cosy and he bed was comfortable. We also used the Spa Facilities, I think it's here where you tend to notice that things look a bit "tired". On the whole tough it was a pleasant stay and would certainly consider returning. Beautiful hotel full of history and character in picturesque surroundings. Lovely open fires and comfortable seating make for a pleasant afternoon or evening drink from the bar. The restaruant staff are meticulous in meeting your every need and the food is absolutely perfect. It is on the expensive side but worth it for a treat!

We had a lovely overnight stay at the lygon arms in broadway. Highly recommended. The hotel is lovely the staff very friendly and efficient and set in pretty gardens. We will definitely be returning and only wish we had been able to stay a few more days.

Poor reception, indifferent attention on arrival and communication poor due to heavily accented and poor English spoken by staff. Evening meal of insufficient standard in respect of price charged. Hotel room quality depends on whether in new (rear)or old (front)part of hotel. Ours was in the old part and we had to access it via the dining room which was a tad awkward with suitcases in tow. The room was smallish and ensuite with a double aspect front view onto Broadway High Street which was very nice. The Brasserie served up a delicious Fish and Chip special which was the best we had ever tasted and good value at £11.50 for 2 courses. The Main restaurant was extra special but a bit pricey, although the breakfast was served here and was excellent. The bars are very atmospheric and olde worlde, a lovely place to enjoy your drink.
