We had reserved an oceanfront room with our kids for the weekend. Upon arrival, I was allowed to check in an hour early. We walked into our room and saw that our ocean view was partially blocked by a giant tent being put up for a wedding. I was mostly concerned about the noise of a late party since my kids are little. I immediately called the front […] desk and we were moved to the other side of the property into an upgraded ocean view one room suite. The lovely young lady at the front desk was so accommodating we were thrilled considering the hotel was packed with wedding guests. The location of the hotel is absolutely stunning. We spent most of our time at the two pools. We ate one lunch and one dinner at the pool bar. My husband is an exceptionally picky diner, he loved the food! The server that constantly circled the pool bringing drinks all day was very friendly and attentive, the cocktails were weak so we stuck to beer. We rented a little sailboat and the guy gave us a lesson and was very friendly. The servers at the restaurant were so pleasant and the front desk staff accommodated every need. The resort itself is very laid back and relaxed. It was perfect for our family. We live in miami and we will definitely be back. Read more

Very regu ar. The girl in the front desk the night we arrived sucked. She did not have us in the list treated us like if we were no one. We had to keep trying and finally we (not she) realized the middle name had been used as last name// terrible service, very old hotel, just the beach worth it. Great midway place to stay if you do not want to drive all the way to Key West in one day. So much to do right at the hotel and nearby--you may not want to leave. Would love it even more if they updated the breakfast.

We only spent one night at the Islander on our way to Key West but it left us wanting more. It has a very resort like feel to it even though it not far removed from the highway. From the front desk staff, to the quaint cottage style rooms, to the beautiful grounds, views, and pool, to the breakfast....everything was great!

Large room with kitchen included in an older building with some upgrades. We were right outside the pools (one fresh, one salt.) Large beach but not really for swimming. I love the Islander, the only downfall this time was the wedding taking place right out front of our room. A little advanced warning would have been nice as this was our "babymoon" and we really wanted a quiet and relaxing stay. Arriving with our pet around 1:30 p.m. and all the desk person would rudely stress was check-in wasn't until 3 pm - and would call if it was available sooner. We waited outside our room with car running due to heat and having our pet with us - no one enetered or left our assinged room - at 2:55 went back to desk and person just laughed and said "guess […] I forgot to call you" secondly claimed our credit card was declined - yet when we called our card company they said - no attempt to process a charge had come through. Watched as she made a german family of five use the restroom to change into their swimsuits - "because check in isn't till 3 PM. Also encouraged them not to continue on their trip to Naples Fl - even tho this hotel was at no vacancy status...will not stay there again...going to another hotel in the area...poorest service I've experienced in a long time.... Awesome place ! The facility is well layed out and the grounds are attractive and well maintained. I was here for just one night, but still enjoyed a lot. After 3 nights in Key West which was a blast, the Islander was just what we needed...it is a fairly quiet resort but just beautiful scenery and very friendly people...it is right across the street from LoreLeis which had great food and breathtaking sunsets...would go back in a heartbeat!!

The Islander resort is a wonderful place to relax in the Keys. The single story buildings are not much to look at from the rear as you park. However, they are very well laid out and maintained inside. The vaulted ceilings lend an airy-ness to the room but the highlight is the lanai screened-in porch. This is a nice, comfortable resort in the keys. Good location, large beach, great pools and tiki bar. The only problem is that the front doors of the rooms might as well not even exist. The have those horizontal glass panes that crank open for ventilation and you can hear EVERYTHING going on outside your door at ALL TIMES! From the cleaning carts rolling […] past early in the morning to your very drunk and oblivious neighbors at midnight. It literally sounds as if they are right in the room with you. It really is that bad. That is the one thing keeping me from recommening the hotel to anyone. Management, please, if you read this review, change out those doors! I know that I'm not the only one who thought this, as I've seen it in other reviews but I figured, "How bad can it be?" . Well, it is. This was a last minute stop on our way to Key West. The place was very cute with a great screened in porch and full kitchen in the room. It is an older place, but well maintained...they even still give you a "real" room key. Everything was clean, and it was the best shower (good water pressure) of our trip, but the beds could stand to be replaced soon. […] The pool areas (there are two) are incredible and must be new! We used the on site laundry room and it definitely needs an update. The area was clean, but the machines took forever and our clothes were still wet at the end even on the highest heat cycle. We were SO incredibly pleased with the Islander Resort in Islamorada! It was perfect for our family on every level. The thing I liked the most about it, besides the beauty and cleanliness of the entire resort, inside and out, is the proximity to the pools, and beach (which is HUGE compared to most hotels on the keys). The beach itself is white but not […] soft and powdery, but what do you expect in the keys? It is more coarse but not uncomfortable. The vista is stunning. The pools (albeit chilly when we first arrived due to a cold front and snafu with one of the heaters) are lovely and once we complained about them being cold, they immediately addressed this issue. The room we stayed in with our two kids, ages 10 and 12, was so well appointed with an efficiency kitchen, which to us, was a HUGE PLUS. We were able to buy groceries at a local market and make sandwiches for the beach and excursions, and we even ordered Chinese once night and had it in our room, at the dining table there.
