CRH - Hale Kai O Kihei - Kihei

Each room individually owed ,so some are nicer than others. The room we stayed in was ok had everything just a little out dated. But the view made up for it! Right on the beach, north end of Kihei, so fairly quiet, but still close to everything. I will definitely consider Hale Kao O Kihei on our next visit to Maui.

Room117 had great access to the beach. The bed was horrible as well as the hide a bed. It was stocked well and the inside washer and dryer was nice. The room was very dated and in need of some upgrading. Other than that it was a nice place to stay.

While this is an older property, it is a great place to stay at if you want something nice but not in the middle of a resort. The location is quiet and you do not end up feeling so touristy. Both my wife and I stay at high-end major brand and boutique hotels all the time for business travel, so when we go on vacation we are not interested in the big resort properties. For our 7-day stay on Maui we wanted a nicely maintained condominium directly on the water and this booking through Condominium Rentals of Hawaii was nearly perfect. All units […] are directly facing the beach, and the surf was less than 100M away with unobstructed views including spectacular sunsets. Although the building dates from about the 70's, the unit we stayed in (#217) was clearly overhauled in 2005 as evidenced by the nicely done wall murals, and appliances appeared even newer. The owners clearly cared, and the unit had everything we needed, including not just the standard linens and towels, but good quality cutlery, beach chairs, entertainment center and furniture. The location at the north end of Kihei is the most convenient to other places on the island--Lahaina, Airport, Road to Hana, National Park, etc. The unit was ready promptly when we came to get it, checkout was fast and no-hassle, and the staff checked on us a couple of times during the week. Being just two adults we did not need to do a lot of laundry--families with children note that there are only a limited number of coin-operated washers and driers downstairs. We had a wonderful stay. The kids loved the pool. The room was beautifully decorated and clean. There were pillows galore so no one had to sleep without a pillow. The beds were huge and comfortable. The condo in which we stayed was exactly what I expected and what I wanted. I did not want to spend a great deal on the lodgings so that I could use my money on dinners out and things to do and go see. I did want to be on the beach and have a view of the ocean. I did have an exquisite view of the ocean from the second story balcony (right off the living […] room) and a great beach on which to walk and to go into the ocean. The beach was just across the lawn and over a small sand dune...and every few people used the beach. The condo was stuffy when I arrived. It was late, so the patio door was opened to the breeze and instead of sleeping in the stuffy bedroom, the sofa bed was pulled out and slept on. I loved waking up to the view of the ocean and beach and the sofa bed was comfortable, I never slept in the bedroom. The condo itself seemed a bit shabby...rugs needed cleaning...exterior needed repairing and painting(looked as if they were in the process of doing that) and the parking lot needed repaving. Mt room was filthy (#314). The screens and windows were dirty. There was a pile of dirt and trash under the bed. The lamps in the bedroom did not work. The bed was just a double and very uncomfortable. It gave me a backache. The TV was way too small for the room. The view and location were wonderful however. I had to request a room change. I spent 5 days in Maui and the hotel room gave me fantastic comfort and easy access to the surrounding parks and beaches. Neighborhood is very quiet and safe. For this price, I never expected so much like this and it couldn't be beat IMO! Full kitchen is a plus also!

Stayed here with my wife and son for 3 nights in June 2011. I would recommend it to a friend, but would make sure they know about the AC. Overall, I think the place is a good value. The location is excellent: it is on the beach, close to a grocery store, close to multiple restaurants and stores. It was also clean. I chose this hotel because of the price and previous reviews. I was disappointed after a three night stay. I arrived late and received the keys to my room in a lock box, which is fine. Two nights later, I receive a note on my door to recheck in at their main office 2 1/2 miles away! I rechecked in and received a welcome pack with coupons for some attractions […] in the area. It WOULD HAVE been nice to receive these at the beginning of my visit instead of on my last evening, especially since some of the coupons were to attractions I had already visited. Also, even with the water in the shower all the way on hot, it was only warm at best! The window air conditioner was placed in the living room which did NOTHING to cool the bedroom at the opposite end of the unit. Also, in the kitchen I had to make sure I kept nothing on the countertops as on NUMEROUS occasions I would find very small bugs crawling around. They were extremely small but did not give a very clean impression of the unit itself. The living room carpet did not seem very clean at all either because after walking around the unit awhile my white socks were totally black!! I know they were not that way when I put them on!!! I will say the view was very nice outside my room on the balcony looking at the ocean. It was also very quiet while I was there, no problem sleeping, except being a little warm with no central air! Honestly if I was to do it all over again, I would just spend a little more and get a nicer, cleaner room. I was expecting for a little bit better conditions than I received. The location was absolutely perfect, off the main street (no street noise), right on the beach, close to all the amenities of the Kihea area. Our unit was a 1 bed, 1 bath unit. The condo was well stocked and clean, and no bugs. The beach was quiet. My ONLY complaint is the air conditioning unit is located in the living room area and was not large enough […] for the condo, and thus the bedroom area was too warm for us (we like a cool bedroom at 64 degrees). This was a big enough issue to cause me to rate the comfort and overall at 4 instead of 5. If you like a warm bedroom (70 degrees) this won't bother you. Although the look is a bit oudated, the location was amazing. Quiet and peaceful. The view was outstanding and you can snorkel and swim steps away. We found our favorite eating places in Kehei near Kalama beaches - GREAT food GREAT prices. Wonderful place to stay that is not so touristy.

Location was ideal, just grass and some palm trees between our condo and the beach. The condo was not fancy, but perfectly adequate for our needs. We LOVED Hale Kai O Hehei! We have been to Maui several times and experienced condos at both ends of the spectrum. This was exactly what suited us best. Every room in this 60 condo unit has a beach front view. As some other reviewers noted the bedroom is at the back where the garbage truck picks up almost every morning and it is noisy. As far as I'm […] concerned that was the only negative thing. We cooked fresh fish on one of the grills located on the grounds and ate on the lanai almost every night. The water in front of the units is very shallow, but great for kids to play in. The units are older, I would estimate they were built in the 60s or 70s, but ours (312) was updated and very nice inside. I really liked the fact that the unit was small. Some condos have so many wings and rooms that you can get lost trying to get in and out. There was never a problem trying to find lounge chairs and the grassy area between the unit and the ocean was very nice and well kept. We really love the Kihei area and wanted to be there for the proximity to grocery stores, restaurants and great snorkeling. This was the perfect place for all those amenities. We snorkeled every day at one of the three Kameole beaches and saw all sorts of tropical fish, as well as eagle rays and sea turtles. We both felt this was better than the snorkel trip to Molokini. The condo was BEAUTIFUL! It had everything we could have needed, down to laundry detergent and fabric softener. The view was nice. The grounds were well kept, neat and clean. Staying at the Hale Kai O Kihei really helped make the vacation in Maui....right on the beach, close to all types of shopping, and within easy driving distance to anywhere on the island. Negative points : The flat, number 308 (third floor), was not very well cleaned (we moved the bed, and below there was plenty of dust, hairs on the carpet and dishes partially washed). (1) very well equipped and stocked condo; all of what can be expected was there and more; great weather in early February and only used overhead fans and never needed to use AC; the condo really is a home away from home (2) great location in Kihei on beach, in quiet neighbourhood and close access to local shopping amenities; ample on-site parking; felt […] safe all the time; condo staff genuinely friendly (3a) upon first accessing the condo, found dry urine stains on exterior of toilet bowl and pedestal to the floor (3b) kitchen blender had a 2 inch chip broken off canister (3c) bathroom light bulb was burned out (4) bathroom exhaust fan far too loud; previous customers/guests made same comments noted over the years in condo’s “guest book” = obviously no follow-up; recommend owner to purchase better “silent” exhaust fan at local hardware store or Home Depot; the noise is not worth the irritation to guest(s) (5) all the upholstery on all 4 kitchen chairs, the living room sofa bed’s seat and side cushions as well as the accompanying sofa's chair seat and back cushions were all clearly needed cleaning due to being soiled and/or overall dirty; my temporary solution was to use towels as covers NOTE: items (3a) (3b) and (3c) above were all rectified within four (4) hours of notice to the office; regard this as very good response Would stay there again but would not like to rediscovery any unkept upholstery or the noisy fan.
