Very convenient for attending contest at convention center
Location.
Small and stylish, this Los Angeles boutique hotel is 1 block from Beverly Center shopping and 1 mile from Sunset Strip, The Grove, and the Los Angeles Farmers Market. Rodeo Drive is 2 miles away.

The Elan is a small hotel, including the size of the rooms and bathrooms. There is no public bathrooms available so if you are meeting someone in the lobby, it is necessary to return to your room to use the facilities. There is very little counter space available for either toiletries or hair products. Our room was very small for 2 people.

Excellent hotel with excellent service. Rooms look perfect, without signs of wearout. Well located close to the airport and Beverly Hills. Shopping mall and good restaurants next door. Great deal for being L.A. I'll recommend it w/o any doubt.

I booked this hotel because we were attending a show at CBS Television Studios. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the studios and the adjacent Farmers Market & The Grove. Two blocks away is a major mall with restaurants and shopping. The hotel can make transportation arrangements via a private car from the airport, they sold us our tour tickets […] for the hop-on, hop-off bus (which I highly recommend if it is your first time visiting). "Great staff, but not worthy of its acclaim."
The service I received at the Elan, from the check in to assistance with my bags and the valet parking, were all top-notch. The room I had (101) was on the tiny side, to be sure, but not problematic and an exceptionally comfortable bed. Unfortunately, if you're in room 101, unless you're a heavy sleeper, you won't be sleeping in late, because the […] complimentary breakfast is being served a few feet from your room. It's a mild annoyance at most, but I'd definitely avoid staying in that particular room again. As several people have noted, valet parking is the only option -- the parking on nearby side streets is all restricted, so you will be paying the valet charge or going for a long walk. Read more

"Watch the soap"
Under the banner of "no one likes when soaps are used down until they're too little," this bath soap has no center. Cute. Sort of like an empty frame. But ours slipped and broke. "Hotel Elan was just perfect"
on a college tour with my teemage daughter so needed access to Schools but also to the sights of LA. Great location, walked to Farmers Market to eat/shop. Friendly staff, parking on site, room - and bathroom - plenty big enough for 2 and quiet too. Quite the find, if she chooses a school in LA I will be back her on visits!

This hotel was a clean, comfortable, and convenient place to stay while in the LA area to visit my son. The only thing that marred our stay was the garbage being picked up on the side street next to the Elan at 6:30 in the morning. I took a chance on the Elan after reading other reviews. The very best part of my stay was the wonderful, friendly, professional staff at the Elan. The free accessible internet, both in the room and in terminals in the lobby lounge, and the complimentary breakfast and evening wine service just adds to the value of the already well priced room. My only mild disappointment was that my ground floor room was dark, and to be super picky, the bed spread was cheap hotel polyester - I was surprised by that. I am happy that you found the Élan to be a good value for the dollar and that you were able to take advantage of all of the services that we have to offer. On your next visit I would like to recommend a room on the courtyard side of the hotel or a room facing south which would have more lighting than some of the other rooms. Recently we replaced all of the artwork in the guest rooms and I am pleased to announce that we are in the final phase of upgrading our current bedding package which includes replacing the current bed skirt, adding additional plush goose down pillows, a plush goose down duvet, bolster pillows and a comfortable throw at the foot of the bed. We are also in the process of replacing our nightstand lamps. Once everything is in place this will give the guestrooms a great new look. I look forward to your comments once you see the new package. I spent a few nights at the Elan on my recent visit with my daughter who lives in West Hollywood . Very convenient location, walking distance to the Beverly Center and a number of other shops and restaurants. The included continental breakfast had a good variety of juices, fruit, cereals, breads and pastries, and the afternoon wine and cheese was also […] a pleasant bonus. "Conveniently located and great front desk staff"
We had a short stay at the Elan for 2 nights and came away happy with the experience. The hotel is located close to shopping, cafes and restaurants. What's more, it's right on the hop on-hop off bus route (which is a good way to see the city if you're there for a day). But the best part about the hotel was the front desk staff, they were really patient […] and helpful (thanks William and Michael!). We didn't get a chance to try the included b'fast (but it looked good), but were really kicked about the wine n' cheese in the evenings! As far as the room goes, it was comfortable enough even if a bit on the small side. Though very clean, I wish it were more modern/chic instead of your regular hotel room, esp for the price charged. "ELAN Hotel is excellent - will stay again!"
Decided to spend a couple of days in L.A. - out by Hollywood; just wanted to stay in a nice hotel and check out some of the museums and sights. I do believe we couldn't have chosen a better hotel than the Elan!! Walking distance to Farmer's Market & The Grove was a great day out! We spent another day down on Hollywood Blvd, less than 2 miles away - […] then took a drive down Rodeo Drive. If you've ever been to El Paseo in Rancho Mirage, CA then Rodeo Drive isn't really that impressive. Anyway, Elan Hotel is soooo clean, nice and comfortable; all staff members were like friends to us; so pleasant and helpful. I am a stickler when it comes to details, but can say only good things about this place. The wine & cheese bar is a wonderful start before leaving for dinner or coming back from a long day out in the city. The breakfast each morning is wonderful as well with great, light choices of pastry, fruit and pasties. This is the only hotel we have ever stayed at that looks and feels exactly like the photos in the ads. LOVE IT & will go back!!! Read more
"Need to sound proof some rooms"
I stayed in room 201 at this hotel while visiting family. The room appearance and service is acceptable and borders on good, the bed was good. But the room we had was close to the street, and they have a door to the balcony that is facing the street. This door was letting every sound in, bus/truck/car/lawnmower. It was very difficult to have a good […] night rest. Strange no one mentioned it on the reviews on hotel.com, which makes me suspicious regarding the reviews. "Terrible phone signal"
If you plan on bringing and using your cell phone while at this hotel, think again. It is very difficult to find a signal anywhere on the property and it's often very intermittent when you do. I regularly had to walk a block down the street to be able to talk on my phone. As I was in town on business, this was a disaster. Went to Dancing with the Stars...hotel is very close to the Grove. Very convenient. Staff were extremely accommodating and pleasant. Enjoyed our continental breakfast in the spacious, light filled "lobby" area. Bathroom was large.

The Élan was very clean, comfortable, attractive, and well-maintained. The staff was uniformly helpful and friendly, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We appreciated the proximity to the Grove.

On top of being the best bang for your buck, the Hotel Elan truly does provide 5-star amenities and service. The look is very polished and high-end. The location is convenient and accessible. Hotel was not bad. Room was small, but they have a nice breakfast and a wine and cheese every afternoon. Be careful that you add the cost of parking into your calculations. The only option here is valet parking at $24/day.

I travel to LA often to visit friends and have stayed quite a few places. All I can say is this. I'm only going to be staying at the Elan from now on.. The staff members all had great personalities, and you could tell they really enjoyed their work. Room was spotless and close to everything if you enjoy the nightlife. Personnel were friendly and helpful. They enabled us to check-in early before our son's college graduation without problems. Room was not spacious, but adequate and well designed with exceptional decor and absolutely clean. Great bathroom/shower--modern and big. Nice breakfast and the afternoon wine and cheese were left out for latecomers to enjoy. […] Re: problems, sound between rooms was sometimes noticeable although not much of a problem. Also, with the exception of one of those lovely lavender LA trees in bloom which you could see when standing at a certain angle, our view was primarily older building walls. We chose the Elan Hotel for its close proximity to the Largo at Coronet Theater. The Elan is within walking distance of both the theater and Dominick's restaurant where we had a wonderful dinner. Everything about our stay at the Elan was wonderful. Once inside the hotel is very clean and decorated in nice, modern decor. Every member of staff we encountered […] was friendly. Our room was very clean, comfortable and well decorated. The morning breakfast selection was excellent. They allowed us to have a late check out which was excellent and allowed for extra relaxation time before braving the treacherous Los Angeles freeways. The hotel was decorated nicely and very modern, but the room was small. The TV did not work and the bed was rock hard.

I am sorry that you had a problem with your television as they are new LCD flat panel televisions. Finally, we have had so many compliments on our beds and some guests have even asked where they could be purchased. I understand though that everyone has their preference. Nice hotel with very good service. First room I checked into faced Beverly and was VERY noisy due to balcony. Also as a single female traveler I didnt feel particularly safe in that room so I asked to be moved to an inside facing room. as accommodated easily and quickly. "The Elan - perfectly adequate"
There are better alternatives. Our room was fine but this is an older, '60s style hotel that has had a reasonable cosmetic make-over. Some sites rate this a four star, which it clearly is not. Three stars captures it well.
"wonderful Boutique Hotel"
The hotel is located close to the Beverly Center in walking distance from many restaurants. The wine and cheese reception was lovely as was the breakfast that was included in the price. Parking is additional. But, we would stay here again when in the LA area, everyone was pleasant and accomadating.

The staff at the Elan Hotel were very pleasant and accommodating - the room was well appointed and comfortable and included bath robe and complimentary toiletries. Complimentary continental breakfast and cocktail hour is an added bonus for a hotel in this location. I will stay there again.

I first stayed in this hotel in 2007, and returned just for one night last week. I really liked the hotel the first time I stayed, and it was even better this time. I think the rooms seemed pretty much the same, but the reception areas had been refurbished to a great standard. The place looked lovely. The rooms are quite small compared to other hotels, […] but I knew to expect that and it didn't bother me. The location suited me as everything I wanted to do/see was a short drive away but not sure how you'd fare if you didn't have a car. We paid about $20 dollars to park our car which I think is standard in LA. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was a nice bonus.
