"Times Square Nugget" Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012

We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.

"Consistency. You can depend on it." Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012

Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.

"Another Good Experience" Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012

My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

Overview of Hudson - New York

In a completely original city like New York, why not stay in a completely original hotel? Located in Midtown Manhattan, Hudson, A Morgans Original was one of the first cutting-edge boutique hotels created by hotelier extraordinaire Ian Schrager, who also co-founded the Studio 54 nightclub.

Day or night, Hudson, A Morgans Original, puts you within easy reach of everything on your New York must-do list. Walk 2 blocks to the Time Warner Center, home to the upscale Shops at Columbus Circle. If your shopping spree has whetted your appetite, you can stop by Whole Foods, on the Center's lower level, or pick up a sandwich and cookie to-go from Chef Thomas Keller's fabulous Bouchon Bakery. Then walk across the street to Central Park, for an only-in-New-York picnic. In the evening, take in one of those Broadway shows everyone's talking about. The Theater District is less than a mile south of the hotel.

The Hudson is a destination unto itself. Ian Schrager and designer Phillippe Starck collaborated to produce a collection of unforgettable environments. Drinks are served at the hotel's stylish bar, with its glowing glass floor, and at Private Park, a verdant enclosed space with trees, grass, and lawn furniture that's open seasonally. The wood-paneled Library takes a more classic approach, with an antique billiards table and fireplace. On the 15th-floor Sky Terrace, you can sip a drink while lounging in a teak chair or lazing in a hammock (open seasonally). Feeling energetic? The fitness center is open 24 hours a day. Valet parking is available on site for a surcharge. The entire property is smoke-free. Pets are welcome at the Hudson (surcharges apply).

Most guestrooms at the Hudson are compact. The size and design bring to mind a classic cruise-ship stateroom, with navy-inspired touches like steamer-trunk fabric and brass rivets. Unlike seafaring accommodations of the past, guestrooms include platform beds with Egyptian-cotton linens and down pillows and duvets. Bedside lamps are hand-painted by Italian artist Francesco Clemente. You can check your email via complimentary wireless Internet access, or watch a late-night movie on the flat-panel high-definition TV. Telephones have private numbers. Bathrooms are stocked with complimentary toiletry products by New York's own Malin+Goetz Apothecary and Lab. Guests can request rollaway beds (surcharge) and cribs.

    Hudson Central Park

A short guide to Central Park

Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

It was a short night of sleep, at 3:30 in the morning toilet would not stop flushing, which was a little annoying. Wake up call for 5am never came. Thankfully, we had set our cell's as backup. Then we woke up to a water issue that was scheduled, but we were never notified. I cannot go into details as I am quite certain it had to be a once in a lifetime […] issue that we were just unlucky to wake up to. It was unpleasent to say the least. The staff was very friendly when we brought our less than stellar experience up with them and gave us breakfast. Which is fine I guess. I have loved their summer outdoor deck for years and was making it a point to finally stay here and I guess while it is visually pleasing in design, I am still left slightly disappointed. Water is just a really crucial yet basic need and when there is an issue a bad experience with it really stays with you. I definitely have to say that the staff was exceptional though. Read more

The Hudson is aesthetically arresting and visually gratifying. If you like concept hotels, this is the place for you. However, if you like creature comforts don't book this hotel. The rooms are the size of monastic cells and the bed mattress was thin and hard. My bathroom smelled a bit moldy but to my surprise it was a real bathroom kitted out with […] a soaking tub. I know! A soaking tub in a concept hotel - go figure. The common areas were gorgeous. I totally recommend lounging in the library - a good bar with generous bar tender and a solid pool table. Read more

    "Front Desk a disaster"
Reviewed by Stefan W of Dallas
I was given 3 rooms: The first one I walked into was occupied by a girl. I am just glad she wasn't in the room, that could have been really awkward. All her belongings where there and I could have taken whatever I wanted and move on. Then the front desk needed to talk 10 minutes to the manager to give me another room. I couldn't open this one as it […] was locked from the inside. I could only open it a couple inches until the inside guard stopped the door. Downstairs again, and this time really unhappy, they finally walked me up to a room that was available. They did not give me an upgrade, nobody officially apologized nor did they do anything to accommodate for this. Then the Hotel bar, was guarded by a door guy who let a bunch of very questionable individuals in which where greeted by handshake, while hotel guests had to wait 15 mins. I was into Lova the same night within 1 minute without having to pay anything or take a table (one of the better clubs in town). Overall, for the money there are better places to stay at. The rooms were nice, the hallways a mess. Read more

"The Hudson Hotel in Manhattan - Meh."
Reviewed by Paula R of Chappaqua, NY
The room was tiny and poorly laid out, even by New York City standards. No drawers for clothing, only shelves in a tiny closet. The hotel has no room service available at all. The wall-mounted TV is large and the pay-per-view movie selection very broad, but the TV overhangs the bed just enough to bump into it regularly as you are getting out of bed. […] The tub at one point backed up into the room and left a black residue which was still there AFTER housekeeping "cleaned" the room. Overall, not a great value for an overall average hotel experience. Read more
