"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

"Disappointing"
Extremely disappointing - checked out after one night as did 3 of my colleagues!!! Over priced - ridiculously small rooms; the sheets were too short for the bed! Uncomfortable, noisy - never slept the entire night. Won't be returning here again although the Concierge and Front Desk staff were more than helpful and apologetic.
"Don't Bother"
After reading so many negative reviews on the size of rooms, I still booked 2 nights due to the "4-star" rating. I was shocked when I saw the miniscule room. Believe me, I've been to Tokyo hotels before.... This is absurd given the price you paid. 2 1/2 - 3 stars at best.

"great"
We always enjoy our stay at the Hudson. Drinks are pricey.
"Fabulous Hotel! Extremely small Room."
This place is a gem. The staff are fantastic. The rooms are very, very small. The location is horrible for getting a taxi. You have to go up one street most of the time to be able to catch one. The prices of the restaurant and bar are very expensive. It is better to do most of your eating and drinking outside of the hotel as it costs about double of […] similar food and drinks in the surrounding area. Location is fabulous! Read more
The room was small, but the location was so fantastic there was little need to be in the room!! Rooftop bar was fantastic, there is a club in the hotel in addition to the bar and restaurant. We had a great stay, and we will be back!
"Tiny Room...great property"
As many of the other reviews have stated, the rooms are small. Tokyo small. That being said, there are stylish and feature great toiletries (albeit with slighly sub-par towels.) The highlight (for me) was the library bar. Aside from aking a mean negroni, the decoer was English gentlemen's club meets jet-set sexy lounge (if that makes any sense.) The […] staff were very attentive and the location is perfect. Read more
I was very desapoited by the size of the room and the bath room ridiculously small. It was very noisy you could hear the people talking in the room next door. The hotel has very little light which make it very very dark.
Our first stay at the Hudson, and I can't rave enough about the gorgeous sky terrace, the eclectic and comfortable style, or the graciousness of the staff. We came in hours before check-in and explained that we had a wedding to go to that afternoon, and the staff did everything in their power to ensure that they would not only have our room available […] so that we could get ready for the event, but also that we were comfortable and taken care of while we waitied. We will definitely be back. Read more
"Turn on the Lights!"
Beautiful decor. However, you can barely see it because of the gothic darkness. Even during the day, the hotel is swathed in complete darkness. That got on my nerves. Otherwise, the Hudson is quite chic. Our room was really small, even by boutique hotel standards. Nonetheless, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice. Loved the breakfast. Great staff. […] Two awesome sushi restaurants practically next door. A quick walk to Central Park. We had a great stay. Would definitely stay again. Read more

"Smaller than my office!"
The newly "renovated" rooms were nothing more than a fresh coat of paint. The rooms are tiny. You will swear you are back in college in the Freshman dorms. My office at work is much larger than the room. I felt claustrophobic (and I'm not). The bath mat couldn't even open fully when placed on the floor as the toilet was in the way. Super tiny room for […] much more money. Stay at Le Parker Meridien if you're looking for Central Park location. Bigger rooms, much less money, excellent staff. Read more

"Clean, comfortable for NYC, but Noisy"
I was on the 9th floor and it felt like the window was open. I could hear everything going on in the street. Ask for a room at a higher level. The window is very poorly insulated and the cold and noise comes in. Also, the heater makes a very weird noise turning on and off, almost as if it's going to explode. My friend had the same issue in her room. Overall, […] its a good hotel. Clean rooms, good service. The lobby, bars and common areas are very poshy and nice. Read more
"Too Darn Small!!!"
Great location. Way too small! My dorm in college was bigger. My office at work is bigger! This place was a joke. The shower mat wouldn't even fit on the floor fully as there was no room between the toilet and wall. So tiny!!! I would not recommend this to anyone that is claustrophobic or larger than a child. Stay at Le Parker Meridien. Same neighborhood […] and much bigger rooms!!! Read more
"Great value with some drawbacks"
Room was very small which, of course is typical in NYC, so no surprise there. The sink would not drain and they only had basic cable. Great atmosphere in the lobby and bars. Can't beat the locale.
"Unless alone, don't stay here in the cheaper rooms"
The room is like a closet. I am 6'4" with broad shoulders and I had to turn sideways and slide along the bed instead of walking beside it. If someone else was in the room with me, we would have been tripping over one another. It was fine for an in-and-out business trip over one night, but my closet at home is larger than the room in which I stayed. […] Aside from this, the location was great, there are a ton of good restaurants a couple of blocks down 9th in Hell's Kitchen, and Central Park is just a block over. The staff was great, the lobby was nice, but my floor had peeling paint and the hall way was dirty. I felt like there is a reason that the hallways are very dimly lit. I would stay here again for a business trip if the room was cheaper than others in the area, but if all things were equal I would definitely opt for a larger room elsewhere. Read more
"Very convenient"
This hotel is very convenient to Lincoln Center, Central Park and subways. Our first night did not start out well as we were in a small room with poor ventilation. We had to leave the air conditioning on, but it was poorly placed just above the headboard. In addition, the down blanket was too warm. We slept at the foot of the bed to avoid the air conditioner. […] We had a terrible night. However, the next morning when we explained our problem, the desk person found a better room for us. He called his manager and housekeeping to make sure that the new room had the ventilation system away from the bed as well as a window that could be opened. We were also given a lighter blanket. While we were away during the day, the move was completed, and we came back to a room that eliminated any of our problems. Our next two nights were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again but would know what rooms to ask for. Read more
"Done with the Hudson"
1st the room was too small. I felt claustrophobic. The food was awful. Had to change hotels. I stayed there many times before and felt the same. Can't do it any more.
"My Favorite New York Hotel"
As a New Yorker it is not very often that I stay the night in a New York Hotel. This is the only hotel in which I will stay. They decor and ambiance are great, the staff is always the most helpful, and it is a great place to get a cocktail (whether you stay at the hotel or not). If you are very tall, the rooms may not be for you. As spacious and open […] as the common areas of the hotels are, the rooms present a stark contract. They are always very clean and modern, yet very 'Euro' and do not offer the luxury of extra space. Overall the trade-off is very worth it to me. I love this hotel and will continue to recommend this to my friends. Read more
"not what I expected!"
When booking this hotel I thought I was guaranteed a a certain level of service. The hotel staff was rude and dismissive. I am angry to have spent my money there. The room was much smaller than I expected. I had to wait three hours before they checked me in. I expected this hotel to be an experience but not such a horrible one. I will never recommend […] anyone here or stay here ever again. Read more
"The smallest rooms in New York City"
The Hotel is very Hip, Cool, and expensive with the smallest rooms and bathrooms I have ever seen. The Cafeteria /resturant food was excellent and expensive. The ambience/mood is very cool, great design. Rooms were very clean, I asked every day for the desk lamp to be fixed and it never was made operational. Fabulous location.
"Great location , great price."
Great location , great price, smallish rooms but nice . Food expensive so eat elsewhere.
"Compact but satisfied"
Our stay at the Hudson was out first. We were surprised by our very compact room. I can best compare it to a cruise ship size room. Storage is limited as you would find on a cruise ship room. The room is finished with wood floors and side walls finished in wood and mirrors. Smartly designed for it's size. Our Queen bed was outstanding and the room was […] spotlessly clean each day. Great city location & always felt safe walking back from Broadway even at 1 - 2 in the morning hours. The staff was always professional & pleasant and dressed in casual attire. Excellent location to Subway station. The facility is uniquely lit with subdued lighting with an atrium, ivy & dark wood interior design. It's really a different kind of place but we very much enjoyed our stay. We would most certainly consider returning for another stay at the Hudson. Read more
"Hudson Hotel"
The rooms were so small I literally walked into the wall the first night. It was a good location, close to Columbus Circle. Very noisy area.
"Awesome Experience"
Having stayed in a number of hotels in NYC it's clear that the quality is all over the board. Most hotel rooms are small and for good reason...you're not supposed to be hanging out in your room. This hotel was not only well-priced but well maintained and gorgeous. The decor is typical high-end contemporary boutique (low lighting and funkiness). What […] was very un-New York was the service. From the door person to the woman at the counter-it was top notch and friendly. I arrived three hours before check in and expected the usual song and dance but I was greeted and given free coffee at the restaurant and the wifi internet code to work while my room was being cleaned. 45 minutes later I was in the room. The linens were a little on the overly bleached and crunchy side but i'd rather have that than a case of NYC bed bugs. Read more
"Hudson Hotel"
This hotel is close to all of the must see sights but far enough away to get some peace and quiet by Central Park. The atmosphere is very trendy and the staff is eager to please. You are directly a cross the street from the Time Warner building and a stones throw away from Central Park. We walked to Times Square which is only 15 blocks away. Overall […] this was a great experience and I would definitely go back again. Read more
"Tiny but clean"
Tiny tiny TINY rooms, but for the price, they're still a steal! My queen size room was immaculate -- spotless bathroom, bathtub that was clean enough to take a good long soak in, clean wood floors. Bed was super clean and comfy. Only complaints would be 1. not very warm temperature-wise, 2. the security lock was falling out of the door -- literally, […] 3. not the greatest sound proofing for the 'rowdy youth' on Saturday night (but they were only rowdy for a short time. :> ) Read more
"Small but efficient"
I enjoy the place very much,, 1 out of 5 nights my room was not serviced,, things happen,,,,,,, otherwise,, I love the place,,,,, small but efficient!
"Go for the bar, not for the rooms"
I stay in "standard" rooms across NYC fairly frequently, so I was a little surprised that the Hudson's rooms didn't live up to my pretty low expectations. Low-cost rooms in NYC exist at most hotel chains and are usually very small with limited amenities. That said, I found the Hudson's "standard" room to be even smaller than most and included little […] more than a mattress on the floor, an old phone, no closet/storage space and an UBER tiny bathroom. I admit that I had a bad experience by having to move rooms right away (the first smelled like mildew and was unkept...didn't have a working phone either). The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, but my second room wasn't much better than the first. The bar is great, but that's about all I can say in terms of positive aspects of my stay. Overall, this experience tarnished my view of the Morgan brand hotels...I would recommend another location as other standard rooms around the city are a much better value. Read more

"Hudson New York - Hip hotel in a great location"
You really can not beat the Hudson for location, atmosphere, and price. Yes, the rooms are on the small side - this is NYC. Friendly service, clean rooms, cool atmosphere, convenient location - what more can you ask for.
"Great location!"
Hudson Hotel is in a great location, it a really cool hotel with cool bars. Although expected the room are really small which might bother some people,
"OK if all you want to do is sleep"
the hotel is well situated. if you have buisness around Columbus circle. its a very predictable fashion hotel . Rooms a very very small and simply a sleeping shell,,, Look else where if your looking to be comfortable if your in town for a few days..

excellent ambiance, friendly and competent staff.
"First & Third night awesome, second night rough"
It was a short night of sleep, at 3:30 in the morning toilet would not stop flushing, which was a little annoying. Wake up call for 5am never came. Thankfully, we had set our cell's as backup. Then we woke up to a water issue that was scheduled, but we were never notified. I cannot go into details as I am quite certain it had to be a once in a lifetime […] issue that we were just unlucky to wake up to. It was unpleasent to say the least. The staff was very friendly when we brought our less than stellar experience up with them and gave us breakfast. Which is fine I guess. I have loved their summer outdoor deck for years and was making it a point to finally stay here and I guess while it is visually pleasing in design, I am still left slightly disappointed. Water is just a really crucial yet basic need and when there is an issue a bad experience with it really stays with you. I definitely have to say that the staff was exceptional though. Read more

"Sometimes beauty IS only skin deep"
The Hudson is aesthetically arresting and visually gratifying. If you like concept hotels, this is the place for you. However, if you like creature comforts don't book this hotel. The rooms are the size of monastic cells and the bed mattress was thin and hard. My bathroom smelled a bit moldy but to my surprise it was a real bathroom kitted out with […] a soaking tub. I know! A soaking tub in a concept hotel - go figure. The common areas were gorgeous. I totally recommend lounging in the library - a good bar with generous bar tender and a solid pool table. Read more

"Front Desk a disaster"
I was given 3 rooms: The first one I walked into was occupied by a girl. I am just glad she wasn't in the room, that could have been really awkward. All her belongings where there and I could have taken whatever I wanted and move on. Then the front desk needed to talk 10 minutes to the manager to give me another room. I couldn't open this one as it […] was locked from the inside. I could only open it a couple inches until the inside guard stopped the door. Downstairs again, and this time really unhappy, they finally walked me up to a room that was available. They did not give me an upgrade, nobody officially apologized nor did they do anything to accommodate for this. Then the Hotel bar, was guarded by a door guy who let a bunch of very questionable individuals in which where greeted by handshake, while hotel guests had to wait 15 mins. I was into Lova the same night within 1 minute without having to pay anything or take a table (one of the better clubs in town). Overall, for the money there are better places to stay at. The rooms were nice, the hallways a mess. Read more
"The Hudson Hotel in Manhattan - Meh."
The room was tiny and poorly laid out, even by New York City standards. No drawers for clothing, only shelves in a tiny closet. The hotel has no room service available at all. The wall-mounted TV is large and the pay-per-view movie selection very broad, but the TV overhangs the bed just enough to bump into it regularly as you are getting out of bed. […] The tub at one point backed up into the room and left a black residue which was still there AFTER housekeeping "cleaned" the room. Overall, not a great value for an overall average hotel experience. Read more
"Visit but don't sleep there"
Bathroom sink was cracked. Many tiles in bath floor and walls were cracked or grout was missing or was stained. Bed had tons of human hair below the bottom sheet and above the mattress cover. Room 2317 has only one temperature - burn. We had the windows open and air condition on all night and still burned up (it was 35 degrees outside too). Was like […] a constant 80-85 degrees in there. Pay a little more and choose another hotel. Read more
