We were unable to access the bars in the hotel during late hours as the crowds looked very young/college aged. Rooms/bathrooms were very small. Loud music until about 11. Location was great- walking distance to Central Park and shopping.

Very noisy hotel. Parties every evening, disturbs, specially jet-lagged people who come for work. Why does all the place need to be so dark? I'm in my mid-20s and was referred to the hotel from a local. The ambiance is amazing, there's an awesome courtyard and rooftop as well as a great burger bar. They had an event going nightly with drinks, DJs, and food so it was really fun for someone looking for excitement without having to go very far. The rooms are very modern and comfortable. Everything's fine but it is cold in the room as usual. I stay Hudson twice a year on April and October for a business trip and am always afraid of chill in the room. The heater doen't work and also raise the dust when it is turned on.

The bed was comfortable and clean and the staff were friendly. However, the room was too dark for reading, the safe didn't work, the shower had no pressure even after it was fixed, the shower was cringeworthy and repairs were extreeeemely slow. I spent too much of my stay (hours) dealing with issues that should be routine upkeep.

Beautiful Hotel BUT!. The room was so small, I was shocked. Native New Yorker and It was like staying in a walk in closet. Could not regulate air, so if u turned it off you had no circulation. Hudson's lobby, veranda and bar set up are very stylish and accommodating, but my room was EXCEPTIONALLY tiny. A colleague and I shared a regular room and found ourselves sidestepping and excusing ourselves whenever we moved. Good size room for Manhattan not over priced when incuding discount. In hotel bar / restaurant closed a little early for my liking. No problem with a late checkout which was impressive and no additional charge. Was able to leave luggage after checkout which was a bonus.

The location is great, the common spaces are really fun, the rooms are beyond tiny. I was ok with all of that and, indeed, felt completely informed of and ok with all this. What made me not want to come back in the congestion at check in. The lobby area was swarmed with people in line waiting to check in and there were only 3 people working the very […] long desk. Each person was very nice and took their time with each customer....(which I appreciated when it was finally my turn) but it is ridiculous to have other staff going about the lobby and not helping to check people in. We were jammed up for 45 minutes and it was 5:30 in the afternoon. The airconditioner/heater in the rooms is what will keep me from rebooking there...TOO LOUD and constantly turning on and off. The Hudson is a very cool hotel right by Central Park. The room is a bit small, but that seems to be par for the course in NYC. They do a good job making the space usable, although if you're taller than 5'8" the bathroom will be tight. I'm 5'4" and when sitting on the toilet my knees almost touched the wall. Truly, my only complaint was with the heating/AC […] unit. Even though I turned it completely off on the wall control it kept kicking on and rattling every two hours throughout the night, and it's located in the headboard of the bed so there's no ignoring it! Overall, my beau (visiting from London) and I enjoyed our stay at the Hudson. He thought the whole hotel was visually cool and liked the concept of an efficiency hotel room. Our only complaint was that the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke. We didn't complain because our room had been upgraded for free. If you're staying in downtown New York it's hard to beat this location. You're located less than one block from the,entrance to the 59th street-Columbus Circle subway station where you can catch the 1, A, B, C, and D lines. Central Park is just half a block further, and Lincoln Center is just a 5 minute walk away. The hotel itself is clean and well […] kept. The rooms are extremely small, European but well laid out and extremely functional. The beds are good; I have a very bad back and had no problems. The bathrooms are small enough that I would recommend against very tall people staying here, 6'10" and up. The windows on the room are not noise blocking, you can hear horses quite clearly from the 7th floor. The hotel staff were pleasant, quick, and there were always enough of them. We were allowed to check in at 8 am (we took a red eye) at no additional cost. The room, and the hotel in general, is clean, with good upkeep. The only problem with the room was that if the heater turned on it made a racket, i left it off. One night the elevators went down from 10-12, the service elevators were still working, but the line to take them was quite long. Also to note, the bar/club may enforce an arbitrary and mot defined dress code. Other notes, the wifi service was good (but doesn't extend to the sub basement where the gym is). The gym is quite good for a hotel, with lots of aerobic machines, several weight machines, dumb bells up to 50 lbs, and barbell station. Read more

The room rate seems inexpensive, but the room itself was the size of a small bathroom. Tiny doesn't begin to describe it. The bathroom was so small I could barely stand in it. The bar scene was cool, although the food was sub standard and very expensive. There are better choices in NYC for sure.

Stayed for a week while on business and this was the worst hotel I've stayed in NYC. Had to move rooms three times due to room issues. Staff was friendly but less than accommodating when issues would arise. Not worth the hotel price when NYC others so many other competitive options.

The Hudson looks really appealing and trendy when you arrive. The bar has a great, fun area a little different than the typical hotel bar scene. The icing on the cake was when I ordered a movie in the room and it froze halfway through. The comical part is that they weren't able to get the movie or any of the movie channels for that matter back and my sole reassurance was that the movie charge would be removed. Needless to say, I do not plan to ever stay at the Hudson again because although the staff is friendly, they have been less than accommodating for the multiple inconveniences. Read more

I arrived at Hudson at 12:00 am and was told that my room was being cleaned, so I would have to wait in the lobby. 15-20 others guests were also waiting for rooms, some had been there for 40 minutes. Staff told us that people had checked out late and the cleaning staff was behind. I still can't understand how late checkouts could result in 10-20 rooms […] being unavailable at midnight. After waiting for an hour, I offered to clean my own room and was rebuffed. Several of the other guests in the lobby asked the manager on duty for a better explanation. I suggested that whatever she was doing to remedy the issue wasn’t working because no one had gotten a room since I had arrived (some guests had been waiting two hours). Rather than rethink whatever failing strategy she was using to deal with the issue or explain how it would take over two hours to clean a room, the manager told us to "be patient." Needless to say, no one was happy. "Being patient" meant waiting until even later in the morning to have a place to sleep, which-obviously- is the purpose of a hotel room. I was finally able to get a room at 2:00 am after customer service at hotels called the manager. Many guests, including some who had arrived before me, still did not have a room. I imagine they waited until at least 3:00 or 4:00 am. Having rooms available at night seems to me to be the most basic function of a hotel. If Hudson can't get that right, what else is it screwing up? Do not stay at Hudson. Read more

James at the front desk is amazing. Very accomodating and friendly he works overnight and will give you anything you need. Get a room with a double bed the room with one bed is too small.

The Hudson is cool, hip, contemporary, etc. But it's also a very enjoyable place to stay. The lobby, library, and commons are great places to relax, work, and party.
