We stayed here for my wife's birthday. Only one night but it was super. Room was nice but needed place to sit other than the bed and upright chair. But that is pretty picky. Staff super helpful. Would stay again without question.

Service was outstanding from beginning to end. I've visited many many many nice Hotel and this is by far the best service I've ever received. Location is fantastic, right on the front strip with a quick walk down to the beach. It's quiet and comfortable. They are still doing some re-modeling but they make sure that does NOT get in your way. Very nice hotel, nicely located. Rooms are large and well decorated. The hotel was under renovation but this was not a big problem and the quality of the staff was very good. We are a family of 5 and recommend this place.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and roomy. My only complaint was that they were under construction and my room was right in the middle of the construction zone. I had plastic on my windows and no view and it felt weird. I would stay there again when they are done with the construction.

Under MAJOR construction with NO warning when booking-Dishonest Management I was booking this hotel for an employee from out of town. I know the area and from the outside this looked to be a great treat for her. However it is far from that. Outside all looks great- inside is scaffolding and blankets, jackhammers, no pool entirely under construction- […] everything!- it gets worse- my employee was handicapped and was not offered an upgrade in fact was given a room that still required stairs (after elevator ride) to get too! Unfortunately I was not aware of this until I picked her up for dinner. I was shocked- would never has checked in personally. The arrogance and lack of honesty of the staff to state their situation before paying- then to ignore her clear handicapp and give her the room in back of hotel with stairs needed to get there! Well Oceana you have permanently lost a client and any future employees will stay at any of your many competitors. Errors are one thing- this is total dishonesty and pure arrogance. I love this hotel and the staff is amazing....HOWEVER if you are going between now (Thanksgiving) and January you should be warned that the hotel is under a massive renovation. We were dealing with half of the courtyard under a tarp with construction workers walking around. The "restaurant" is in a converted suite on the ground floor. The Oceana is in an older, quieter part of this attractive, southern California coastal community. It's a converted time-share building on Ocean Ave in Santa Monica, California. While there are interesting upgrades to the overall quality of the beach club hotel, there are vintage touches of its former footprint. A couple of downsides affected my overall […] impression of the experience - the low-grade hum of the HVAC compressor was disagreeably loud in our suite, and the underground valet parking reverts to tandem parking when the number of guest cars exceeds the allotted number of places. Any delay shouldn't be attributed to the valet attendants, as they're hustling to re-park rows of cars down below. It might lead to the occasional ding however, and guests should be mindful of this. Since it's virtually impossible to find street parking without being cited for parking permit violation or street cleaning violations in Santa Monica now, guests really have little alternative than to opt for the 39 dollar per night total during their stay. We had an excellent stay at the Oceana. The room was massive, really stylishly decorated and just generally great. The pool was perfect for chilling out. The location is good. The staff were all super helpful. We'd definitely recommend it.

Excellent service from the friendly hotel staff for a number of special requests. We had a lanai suite which has a very large sitting area with french doors opening to the pool and outside seating area. This set-up was ideal for our toddler. The bathroom was also large. Great location, professional and friendly staff. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. It's quiet and peaceful, but easy walk to beach, downtown and other sights. Only thing that I would change would be breakfast. It's a fixed $25 buffet which isn't worth it if you just want a cup of coffee and some oatmeal. No option for a la carte.

We booked last minute on expedia and got a great rate for a King suite. We arrived, exhausted after days of traveling with 2 kids and were greated curbside by Denver who immediately made us feel at home! upon check-in we were treated to complimentary Prosceco and upgraded to an ocean front suite. The hotel was by far the nicest I have ever stayed in […] and that is 50% based on the property itself and 50% (or more) based on the staff. Every single staff I came in contact with went above and beyond to be friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. We enjoyed lounging around the beautiful courtyard pool with its lush gardens while ordering drinks and delicious food. The breakfast buffet for $25 was out of this world (optional $16 bottomless mimosa) and we ended up eating dinner in the restaurant one night at the recommendation of a local friend and she was right, it was amazing food. Don't miss the truffle fingerling potatoes. The hotel has free bikes, first come first serve, to borrow and we biked down along the ocean to Venice beach a short ride and walked to the pier. Spacious suite, pleasing colors, well decorated, excellent location, easy street parking, good value for the large space and location. We were probably in a handicap-designated suite (322) since our tub was tiny and low with a pull down shower with railings all around, not very comfortable. I repeatedly asked for a daily change of linens, or at the […] very least, changing of pillow cases, yet it was only done once during our four night stay (after I complained). Again, I had to ask that our shampoo and soap be replenished since we had four people and only one tiny bottle of shampoo (no new bottles were left after the cleaning service), I also had to request enough towels for four. Franky, I do not care to sleep on my teenage child’s pillow (uses acne creams). All in all, a very nice and relaxing boutique hotel. Read more

Have stayed here numerous times dating back to the 90's when they first opened but this is the first time in a while and it has been renovated and is now even nicer than it was back when it was just plain nice. The building was originally an apartment complex built in a style that is rather iconic of the 50's and 60' whereby a rectangular building surrounds […] an open garden and swimming pool. As such the rooms are particularly spacious, I believe most are multi-room suites. The new decor is updated classic southern California; airy and bright with mid-century pastel colors and florals, very nice and much more comfortable than most boutique hotels. The only drawback is that because it was built back in the day little attention was paid to the way noise moves through materials; be prepared to hear all that is going on around you and if your room faces the pool you must enjoy the sounds of children happily splashing and expressing their glee with little or no restraint. This of course is mixed in with the occasional admonitions of watchful parents at even greater volume. Read more

This is my favorite hotel in Santa Monica. It is a little quirky in decor, but the young, energetic staff is wonderful. The rate we got for the room on expedia's flight and hotel package was a third of the price compared to booking it direct.

When my girl requested that I find her a "Cave By The Beach", I took this task very seriously and located Oceana. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience from the staff and their suggestions for a breakfast (Blue Plate) and dinner (El Cholo) locations to their friendy demeanor.
