The front desk staff was friendly. I am a seasoned traveler and according to the price and website photos, I expected upscale accomodations and was very disappointed to find them below average. I was aware of the resort fee (this is not a resort) which covered a newspaper (if I wanted a newspaper I'd buy one)and free local calls (I can use my cell for […] free) but feel that for $10 it should include beach towels. There was mold in the shower. No soda or ice machine and a can of Soda at the bar was $3. We did receive a free drink at the bar after 6pm which we enjoyed on the patio. It was a short walk to the beach which had a nice boardwalk. Use the $1 parking across the street. Hotel parking is $22/day. Read more

We were very pleased with our experience. The wait staff in the restaurant were exceptional and made dining there a pleasant experience. One area of concern was the shower facilities...a bit short for my husband who is 6'3".

the walls are paper thin....could hear the people next door talking, moving furniture, etc. Location is convenient to beaches. Bathroom fixtures need repair. Bed creaks loud any time you move and you can hear your neighbor when he/she rolls over.

While the Claridge is a pleasant smaller "boutique" style hotel, I felt that that the quality of service by management and the front desk staff leaves much to be desired. Based on that lack of service and willingness to please, I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

when my friends and i went to this hotel, we have told that our room got upgrade to junior suite because the two queen rooms were all full, and we were quite happy about got upgrade to suite. Then walk in to suite, we found out there are only 1 bed and can't fit all of us, also the shower is not hot at all. The hotel was clean and the service was very friendly. I asked the front desk to call a cab for me for the next morning and it was there early. My room, though, was right off of a common area with a jacuzzi and chairs to sit in. The noise of the jacuzzi masked some of the sound, but there were people walking just outside my room and sitting in the chairs […] talking. It was a bit of a strange setup. Great hotel with a good restaurant right inside. It's about 10 blocks N of the S Beach action so if you arent in the mood for a short walk or cab ride, the restaurant and service is great. The hotel was beautifully decorated in a Spanish Hacienda style but the location and service left much to be desired. It was listed as a South Beach Hotel but was too far away from restaurants and shopping to waik anywhere and the street parking was a nightmare because of the proximity to the beach. Summary of Pros and Cons: Pros: Very beautifully decorated. Very clean. Amazing wooden reading nitch on second floor. White Linen bedding and covers, all tile floors, no carpets. Amazing giant heated jacuzzi. One block across the street from gorgeous beach and nice boardwalk to stroll in the evenings. Carrabas Italian Restaurant within Walking distance […] as well as Morton's steak house. Mini Market nearby. Bike Rental across the street. Located 5 blocks away from 41st street which has Pharmacy, chicken kitchen, domino's pizza, bagel shop, bakery, etc. a few blocks over the bridge. Very close to the Fountain blue Hilton Hotel with the amazing "Liv" Night Club. Cons: Television out of order. Phone and internet went down. Breakfast consists of bagels, toast, yogurt and fruit. In the room, the Blackout drapes are too far off the wall which leaves a big gap and plenty of light into the room at night. Weird noises come and go from the electrical part of the Air Conditioner and makes sleeping impossible. Old Fashioned showerhead with very little water pressure; difficult to get shampoo out of long hair. Very Strong irritating scented air freshners throughout all common areas and in the rooms; quite problematic for people with Respiratory allergies and asthma, bedding is NOT hypoallergenic. The Claridge is a nice hotel that has a lot of charm. It is located a block from a great beach and within walking distance of some good restaurants. The rooms are adequate but not modern. The beds were ok (not super soft like some of the reviews). They do not have many king size beds. We requested one but got a standard room which comes with a queen. […] You would have to pay more for a king. Surprise: We were not informed about an additional $9.95 resort fee you must pay. This includes a continental breakfast, towels for the beach (which are average, not plush), and internet fees. We could barely get a good signal in our room and had to use the lobby to send attachments on email. There are no beach chairs so we bought an umbrella at Wallgreens on 23rd St. (within walking distance) and laid on the towels provided (not the most comfy but would do just fine). The rates were very good compared to other hotels during Miami Music Week (WMC) and so we would consider booking again. In South Beach/Miami Beach where you typically "get what you pay for or below expectations" the hotel was a pleasant surprise; a lot of charm, quiet, clean i.e. not falling apart, no cracked tiles in bathroom, and has a feel of being updated/kept up. However, you don't have the extra amenities as with higher priced chains or all-inclusive type resorts. The service was excellent. Overall, it has a European feel rather than a Miami vibe which was nice if you want to be away from the craziness of downtown. There were a few places to eat and get groceries (rooms have a fridge). The only downside was that we could hear our neighbors (we were in room 212). One would think due to the thick walls of an old building like this, you would not. I believe this was because there was a locked door in our room which actually lead into our neighbors room thus making it a 2 room suite. If you want to go to center, Lincoln Road, and other popular locations you should take a bus which often full or walk aroung an hour. we travelled with one year old son, it was a problem for us. another problem was lack of dinning places, to have a lunch we should've go to subway (not a healthy option) or […] stay at a hotel (not a budget oprtion). Great place to stay for those on a budget. Our room and bathroom were spacious, clean and dust free. The Claridge was pretty and comfortable without being tacky. Our stay here was relatively normal. The location was good, though not as close to the main areas of South Beach as I was lead to believe. However, all the main "hotspots" were within a 5-10 minute drive depending on traffic. Positive side: the hotel common areas were very clean. We did not use the spa, so no comment on that. It was one block from the beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is nothing to do nearby unless you are prepared to walk 20-30 blocks to get to the Art Deco district or take a cab. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and dinner and doesn't open for dinner until 7:00 p.m. We actually had to go to the Marriott to eat. Breakfast was a buffet, which wasn't bad, but there was only one waitress, who had to serve coffee, OJ, bring creamer, sugar, non-buffet breakfasts, keep the buffet stocked, prepare the bill, etc. Our order of toast arrived long after the eggs had been consumed. Bad day? Understaffed? In my room, the air conditioner was aimed directly at the bed and I woke up constantly during the night from the air turning on and off, blowing on me. The curtain rods and the top foot of the curtains were coated in dust. There are no grab bars in the bathroom. My dad slipped and fell in the tub while taking a shower, not hurt thankfully. We loved our stay at the Claridge Hotel! The beach and boardwalk are right across the street, and the Art Deco area is maybe a 25 min beautiful walk from the hotel (or an inexpensive taxi ride). We love walking, so this was no problem for us. The beach was quiet- so if you like a beach where people are not sharing your towel with you, this is the location […] to be. The room and hotel itself were really nice, stylish, and comfortable- really liked the mediterranean ambiance. Most importantly to us, it was very clean!
