"Perfect Stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The Westin was perfect! Stayed in a suite with friends for a weekend away. The hotel was clean and the service was great. The location is perfect for walking and dining in the old port and totally accessible if you want to spend time downtown or further North. No complaints!
"Perfection in Old Montreal"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
We only stayed the one night at Place d'Armes hotel, on our way back to Vancouver and then home, but we wished we had more time, and will return. The hotel staff were both welcoming and efficient (not a combination one often finds), and the hotel itself was immaculate in every respect. The room was flawless in its design, the bed was soft enough to be comfortable, but not so soft as to feel like one is clambering from a bean-bag, upon rising, (as I found in so many hotels in the States!) I particularly appreciated that the designers had eschewed a bath/shower combination in the large bathroom, and installed a large, stone-clad, walk-in shower with a beautiful glass shower screen, instead. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Old Town Montreal by foot, which was just what we wanted to do, since we only had the one night. When we checked out, we left our luggage with Place D'Armes, mentioned when we would return for our flight and, when we did, a taxi was already awaiting us. Immaculate service.

Room was good - a great value for the price! Just a few minor complaints - TV remote didn't work; a little noisy late at night (Saturday night; we were next to the elevator). Beds: very comfortable. Pillows, not so much (overly firm). Bathroom small but clean, bath/shower good, water pressure and temperature fine. Nice pool, adequate gym. Convenient in/out parking, reduced price with hotel validation. Front desk staff: helpful and polite.

"Adequate"
The hotel was okay, we were expecting better. The two queen beds were comfortable, old style TV. I was the other end of Rene Levesque, not in the center of town. The parking was half outdoors, half in the garage, a good system if you need use of the car during your stay. THe personnel were polite, and the price was low.

"Very old hotel that has a 90s renovation feel"
For the money, what should I expect. The carpet in the elevator had duct tape holding it down on the front- yes carpet in the elevator- who would have thunk it. Plus, it looked as if it had not been cleaned in months. The decor was very motel 6ish, or a hotel that is definitely not 3 stars, maybe 1.5 for quality and 3 for location, but that was about […] it. Not impressed, and feel that the pics, although accurate, were misleading of the entire rest of the building. There were young kids standing outside in the courtyard smoking at any time of the day, as this hotel is part of a larger apartment building it seems. Not for families or females traveling alone. Caveat Emptor. Read more
"Perfectly nice place in downtown Montreal"
I've been staying at Le Nouvel Hotel for many years and have found it a comfortable and clean environment. I've also always liked the fact that the windows can be cracked open for fresh air at night. That is over. The windows are sealed "for safety" and the a/c is extremely noisy, so in my opinion, the attractiveness of this hotel is diminished.

"great room in a treat part of town"
i was very happy with the room price through hotels.com, and the room was much larger than I expected. i have stayed in rooms with a king bed before, but this room was much larger than many of the others. there was secure, covered parking in the basement of the hotel, which was nice, too. the staff was friendly and helpful. the only detraction was the […] carpet in the elevator was a little beat up. the neighborhood is great, and it is close to the metro. i would definitely consider staying here again. "Respectable and Clean Hotel"
This is a respectable hotel. It was clean. The rooms are nice. It's better in person than in the pictures. If you're planning a trip with a picky girlfriend or wife, you will be fine, as this hotel is not sketchy or skeevy at all. Pros: I paid a reasonable rate for a conveniently located hotel. Big, tastefully decorated, clean room. Parking was convenient. […] The heating system was powerful. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice exercise room. Cons: No free breakfast buffet. Wifi required a code. (not sure if they charge for it .) Parking $15 per day. (not terrible). Elevators are ugly and need attention. Elevators weren't working properly and would not open on our floor at times. Tv's were old. The remote control did not work well. Couldn't adjust the width of the water stream in the shower. (too narrow). Had to leave the floor to get ice. No fridge in my room. Overall: This is a good hotel that a thrifty traveller looking for respectable accommodations will be satisfied with. It's clean, safe, and convenient to major attractions. Read more
"Decent stay"
The hotel is convenient to St. Catherine St. and all the shops. The room was average. Okay for a quick weekend. Who stays in their room while they visit Montreal, anyway?

walking distance to night life, good price
"bad room"

"loud mechanical noise"
Nice enough looking hotel, but the hallway smelled of pet odor and there was a constant and very loud rattling the entire stay. Another guy from work said he heard it in his room as well. Couldn't sleep it was so loud.
"Great Hotel for the price"
This was one of the less expensive hotels in Montreal, and it was in a decent location, about a half mile walk from restaurants and information center where all tours departed from. In and out parking was a great benefit for a relatively low cost . We did not eat at the onsight restaurant but it looked appealing. There was a little shop for snacks and […] other necessities. We walked from Old Town back to the hotel - but it was probably a couple of miles. Read more

"Great location in downtown"
If you want to get away from the heart of the bustling downtown, yet want to stay relatively close, this location would be key place to stay as all the major attractions are less then 10 mins walk from this hotel.

"LeNouvel Hotel in the boonies, was just okay."
Clean, everything worked. Nothing particularly bad or great. The neighborhood was a mix of mall, business, residential. A few decent restaurants around the area. The staff had no written lists of restaurants...the one we found was one mentioned verbally. That's never a good way to give info to a tourist. They should have a printed list.
"Great place!"
If you can get the 'condo' section of the hotel you will have a small apartment, with a basic kitchen, fridge, extra space, and a view from the large windows. It may even be a bit quieter than the other rooms as this part of the hotel is set back from the street. Definitely worth the extra bucks. Very helpful staff. The regular rooms are OK, too.
"Very comfortable hotel"
Le Nouvel is a very comfortable hotel, situated a few blocks from St Catherine's street, and a short taxi ride from the central downtown area. The hotel itself feels like a fancy apartment building, and it in fact is attached to condo buildings. Very understated entry and lobby. The restaurant served a great buffet breakfast. The fitness room was merely […] adequate. But our room was very large, nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. We were surprised to see a rather old standard TV, however. For the price, it exceeded our expectations, but we knew it would not be a truly luxury place. Read more
Though it's a non-smoking hotel, our room smelled musty and like cigarettes. The bed could use an upgrade!
"Our stay"
We were very satisfied with everything. Great location. Friendly staff. Few blocks from major metro station. Close to restaurants. Just a great place.

"Le Nouvel Hotel in Montreal"
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Location was great, close to Ste Catherine St and a 10 minute walk to downtown. The only thng to watch for is the issue surrounding the free wifi, it seems not all the rooms connect as easily as others. But overall, a nice stay.
"Road trip to Montreal - Staying at Le Nouvel Hotel"
My roommate and I took a road trip to Montreal. We stayed at Le Nouvel Hotel. It was very easy to find off the highway and the staff was incredibly friendly. It's very close to a couple metro stops and in a safe neighborhood. Saint Catherine Street was about 2-3 blocks away (5 minute walk). The room was clean and quite spacious. When we checked in, […] the gentleman at the desk gave us a map and suggestions on what to check out based on our interests, very very helpful. We don't speak much French, but that was in no way a problem. For two single girls that wanted to enjoy the nightlife and the city, it was a great find! Read more

"Vancouver Weekend"
We were very happy with the service and rooms; We were upgraded at no additional cost to large suites. Very nice. The only disappointment was the location in the city. The closest shopping and resturants were in the part of the city that was used by college students; limited resturants and the streets were not clean and had some homeless beggars harrassing […] the pedestrians. "Le Nouvel Hotel is lacking in Customer Service"
The hotel was beautiful, and great location. The service was severely lacking. First of all, the kitchen was supposed to be equipped with cooking and serving tools. I specifically e-mailed ahead of time to make sure and was told by a manager that the kitchen had cookware, utensils, and serveware. When I got there, there were beautiful pots and pans, […] but no cooking utensils to speak of. When I called and asked for some, they said some would be sent up and they never were. Second, the wireless internet isn't actually wireless. After searching in vain for the wireless network listed on the internet information card on the desk, I called the front desk where I was told that my room wasn't wireless and to look for the cable behind the desk. 3 phone calls later, we finally found the cable behind the bed. I had to use my laptop and work in bed the whole time and was unable to use the desk. Third, every single time we called the front desk, they were too busy to help and had to call me back several minutes later. Every time we went to the front desk personally, there was a very long line and a minimum of a 10 minute wait in order to be helped. There definitely isn't enough coverage at the front desk. The parking rates are quite steep. The room was clean and comfortable, but I wouldn't stay there again. Read more

"Excellent Overall Experience"
Profesional staff from the check in desk to the wait staff to the cleaning staff. Always willing to help. The hotel is in an excellent location for walking to shopping and resturaunts. Located in a safe and clean neighborhood. I will stay here the next time I travel to Montreal.
"clean and nice"
it's a good, clean hotel.
"Solid and comfortable"
Le Nouvel Hotel is my first choice when staying in Montreal because it is great value and very comfortable; staff are always helpful; it's a quick walk from the 747 bus stop in from the airport.

"Not very happy"
Flush was not working properly, charges a lot for Parking and I ended up paying $50.00 extra per day for two bed non smoking, with priceline I have never paid a penny extra. Little disappointed with the surprise charges.

"Overall nice, a few issues"
The hotel was pretty nice. There were a few issues. For some reason they had each day of our stay as a separate reservation so every day they were waiting for us to check out and we had to remind them we were still staying there. The room itself was spacious, but a little old fashioned, non-flat screen TV. There were some weird sounds throughout the […] night, pipes or something, not too bad. Personally, this was just a little bit far from the center of town, but not way too far either. The internet downstairs was blazing fast. I didn't pay for our parking in advance so every night I had to go out and pay the parking guy again. Read more
"Nothing to complain about here."
This hotel was clean and just where I wanted it to be. I was traveling to go to the Bell Centre and this hotel is about 4 blocks away which was perfect. The nearest Subway station or "Metro" is a few blocks away so maybe if I was traveling to do more sightseeing I would not have chose this hotel. The only other thing is that it's not really near much […] nightlife (bars, restaurants, clubs). Although it is not noisy in the room, it is on a main road (kind of like a highway) with not much business right nearby except for a couple mini-marts. Read more
