We didn't want to stay at a chain hotel and didn't want to break the bank. Napa River Inn was perfect. Great location with tables outside by the river for everyone's enjoyment. Skip the free breakfast from Sweetie Pies and go to the Napa General Store next door instead. The hotel's new spa is worth a try. We would definitely go back!

Overall location is great, room had a nice ambiance but our particular room was on the first floor corner. Cars were parked right outside and on the adjoining side people would walk past within touching distance. Felt like a motel room - obviously not what I expected for the price.

Hotel is right in downtown, with free convenient guest parking. Doorman greeted us and helped grab our bags and directed us to the attentive and polite front desk staff. Check in was smooth and painless, and we were taken to our river facing room. On first impression, the room was great, with two double beds, hidden TV, huge bathroom, and a porch overlooking […] the river. Beds were comfortable and clean, if a bit narrow (they were doubles afterall), TV had tons of channels, and the room decor was nice. The bathroom, while very large, was disappointing, the bathtub could have been much larger in the given space, and was very uncomfortable for my frame. Didn't hold much water either. Couldn't figure out how to get the flexible hose shower fitting to work, so I had to make due with the fixed shower nozzle. I asked a bellman for recommendations on a place to eat with a 1 year old baby, he directed me to a very noisy bar and grill down the street, which would have been great to have a beer, was a horrible place to try to sit down with a baby. Checkout was smooth. Overall a nice place, but I doubt I will stay there again. Read more

Everything was first class except the room was just a little small. We were ending our two week vacation at The Napa River Inn. We had to be careful not to trip over our luggage. We would definitely stay here again, however. Free Breakfast, and wine tasting at a local restaurant.

We loved our time after checking in and into the evening, but morning we were awakened to alot of noise & one rude guest (obviously downstairs) called us early in the morning to tell us we were being rude by walking around our unit.......we were still in bed!!! Not cool! They woke us up! Room had too light of curtains.......sun totally shined right […] through into our eyes! Hard to sleep in even with the other rude guest! Breakfast was a nice added treat. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of mosts bars and restaurants in downtown. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you ask, they can give you a bunch of coupons for wine tasting discounts, restaurant discounts, etc. The rear of the hotel is right on the river and has a nice walking path along the downtown area. We stayed 5 nights at the Napa River Inn, and found it to be reasonably priced; in a great location downtown. Overall the room was adequate, however I did not like that the only place to hang clothes was on a bar inside the bathroom, which made it much more cramped. The walls must be quite thin, as I could clearly hear people in the next room talking (not yelling), even in the bathroom I heard them like they were in the room. We stayed in room E110 which was large, quiet and very well kept up. It had a view of the river and the wine train rail yard across the river, which was far enough away to not be bothersome. The breakfast that they delivered to our room in the morning was delicious and very convenient. The in-room coffee maker was the single serve type which we used […] extensively and they were happy to give us more when we requested it. The people who worked there were all very friendly and accommodating. We spent two days recently in this hotel- our first time there. Upon arrival, there was one clerk at reception who was on the phone, and did not look up or acknowledge my presence for 3-4 minutes until he was off. Once he was off the phone he was very courteous and helpful so perhaps I'm being a bit picky about the initial lack of acknowledgment. The […] room itself was quite pleasant, although the view from the window was mainly of the cars on the street across the river. It did have a small patio outside, but being on the first floor, we did not use it as there was a pedistrian walkway just beyond the patio, and there was no privacy from adjoining patios on either side. The rooms seemed older, but were well maintained- clean, plenty of towels, bathrobes, iron, small refrigerator, etc. Sound insulation was not the greatest as we could hear voices from rooms on either side, and we apparently had a "heavy walker" above. For the price, I expected a bit more, but we would stay there again. The location was very convenient, essentially at the end of Main Street with several nice restaurants within walking distance, and plenty of parking although it was a short walk from the rooms. The hotel lobby was very nice. Our room was down the street, which I didn't know just by reviewing the website, but wasn't a huge problem. The only complaints were that the air conditioner was about 2 feet from the bed and was blowing on us the whole night which gave us some congestion problems. The room was large, so we thought maybe this could've […] been designed better. The parking lot was also directly outside of our window, so there was car noise and foot traffic, but since the door wasn't on this side, it gave a better feeling than a motel would. The website could have been clearer that breakfast wasn't included, but there were a few nearby areas to pick up a quick bite. It was a really convenient location to the rest of downtown Napa. The Napa River Inn was great. Cozy room, overlooking the Napa river. Outside our room was a small patio with bistro tables. It was right downtown so we didn't have to drive anywhere! We loved the service at Angele's right next to the Inn.

The room was elegantly appointed. We had our room changed to the second floor. The first floor rooms are too close to pedestrian traffic both on the street and river sides. The staff was very professional.

This hotel is in a great location for wine tasting in the valley. Our only issue was that the walls are very thin and you can hear almost everything going on in all of the rooms.

The building is a historical landmark so the rooms/bathrooms are a little small. The hallways smell like your Grandma's house and the room felt the same. We requested a king size bed but ended up with a queen and were disappointed they didn't have a pool. Overall, it was clean, good location and the service was very accommodating.

Delux Historic Room 201 in Hatt building had no adjoining walls with other guest rooms and was very quiet. It was an accessible room and had a large bathroom with a walk in shower & a footed tub. 2 robes & lots of towels were provided. Hair products, body wash & lotion were provided in dispensers. No sleep mode on TV remote - something we missed. Our […] package did not come with breakfast & the night clerk seemed unsure when we inquired, telling us to go to Sweetie Pies to get that. There did not appear to be room service available. Egg McMuffin is better than the breakfast sandwich at Sweetie Pies. Their baked goods looked tempting but are not on our diet. Ate breakfast at the Napa General Store, which does not open until 8am. The food was wonderful. We were on the patio with a view of beautiful roses. There is an area of the patio available to guests and they are welcome to bring their own wine and snacks to this area. We had a very nice evening sitting on the patio and listening to the music from Silo's Jazz club as we sipped on a bottle we picked up at a winery that day.We were able to walk to area restaurants and shops. Great Location, walking distance from numerous bars & restaurants. I would have given this hotel 5 stars if it wasn't for the uninsulated walls, the extremely loud ice maker, and the heat/cool unit that tired to kill us. The first night we were next to an ice maker that turns on and off at 10min intervals and kept us up all night.
