Villa Luxembourg - Paris

The hotel is well-located to the Metro, food stores, restaurants, and parks. The beds sunk. The room was clean, and the tub had no mold has we read in other reviews. The staff was responsive to our requests. Storage was limited--no dresser only a small closet.

The hotel is close the subway station. The room is not large but in Paris it is better than many other 3-star hotels. Three historic cafes within 2- minutes walk and Gallery Lafayette shopping mall within 10 min.

location and service were excellent, staff very helpful. room was efficiently furnished. Can recommend if one is not looking for a modern hotel. Were disappointed when hotel was listed as being 4 star, for us it should be an excellent 3 star.

We chose this hotel based on price and stated 4 star status, knowing that in Paris they are very serious about the star system. As at least one other reviewer has mentioned, there is no way this a four-star hotel, and I believe that designation has since been removed at Hotel.com. I noticed that where the stars should be displayed on the awning, there […] is a large grey patch, although a dirty rug in the lobby sported the design 'Villa Luxembourg * * * *" I suspect they may have been stripped of their stars, although I don't know how they would ever have been granted 4 stars in the first place given the very cramped rooms, hallways, low ceilings, etc. I am very experienced with European Hotel rooms, and this may not be small by European standards, but it certainly is by 4-star standards. I could deal with tiny/shiny. However the bed was absolutely horrible - very little sleep possible, and my teenage son in the adjoining room had only a sofa bed with very thin mattress, a fact not disclosed in the description of "family room." Everything about the room was old, worn out and disgusting from bathroom tiles to carpeting to bed linens and what seemed to be pre-war pillows - shapeless sacks of ancient feathers. Maybe it is comparable to other rooms at this price in Paris, however had the star rating been accurate, we would have chosen to spend more elsewhere. Air conditioning barely functioned, noisily. We opened windows instead although it was very hot. Windows overlook the outdoor dining room of an adjacent restaurant which is open until 12:30 a.m., and we heard voices and clattering dishes until that hour, although those sounds were pleasant and did not bother us much. About a week earlier, we had stayed one night for around the same price, in one large comfortable room in a nearby high rise bona fide 4* hotel with two double beds. We are from Dallas, TX, and this hotel was a great location, just steps from the Vavin metro stop. The surrounding neighborhood (Montparnasse) is very safe and there are lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Gare Montparnasse train station is about 200 meters (1/6 of a mile). We had a nice stay (4 nights) at this hotel. It was a good value. It is in a nice neighborhood, with good restaurants very close by. We used Paris's public transportation system quite a bit, and this hotel is close to two different subway stations and a couple of bus stops. Luxemburg Park is close by and we had no trouble walking to St. Michael's Square/Notre […] Dame from there (though we took the bus once too). The staff was not nearly as warm or friendly as some places, but we didn't try to interact with them much either, so that wasn't very important to us. Our room had a tiny kitchen (we didn't use), but we did appreciate a refriderator that was SEPERATE from the mini-bar, so that we could stow some perishables. Overall, a very good experience! A mixture of good and bad. The location is excellent. The room was small but attractive, though it lacked drawers for clothing. Pluses: - Great location. Minus: MY room had a broken AC. I complained over phone but no action was taken till I complained again (in person at the front desk).

the overall hotel was not bad. The air condition was not on and the rooms were very hot. The hotel was very clean but it needed updating. It looked worn! Location to metro was perfect! Staff was niice!

As soon as we got off the elevator to our floor there it smelled very stuffy our room did too! we opened the windows asap- and left them open as much as possible after the second day it got better. We were lucky enough to have a very nice view though- so having the windows open was great! Not sure how the hotel is listed with 4 stars, not worth it. Price does not reflect 4 stars either, low price is correct for low value. Heat was not working when checked in, nor tv. after 4 days repairs were made but slow. Not clean either, needs to be redone.

Great location, near Montparnasse and Raspail but far enough so it's not LOUD. Small but fine rooms, very clean. Been there twice and will go back in summer.

We loved the neighborhood, especially for eating out locally. Room size was large for European standards. The level of cleaning was superficial. Mildew on bottom of shower curtain. Grout used to be white but is now black. Alerted maid that light fixture was not working, and her response was that it was not her job.

The hotel is far from being a 4 star. It is dirty. The furniture is very hold and broken. Even the bathrooms have the cheapest and oldest possible plumbing. The desk was so old and broken that it almost fell apart when we put a small piece of luggage. The TV must be at least those models from the 1980s. Clearly the owners are only milking this hotel […] and have not invested a penny in maintaining it. We stayed in three stars hotels in France that are better by a stretch. although the location was great, the ameneties were totally lacking; there was a stove but no pots, no dishes, and especially no coffeemaker.

This is a small hotel thats centrally located, 100 ft away from a metro station - and has eateries, stores etc on the same street. It was safe, the staff friendly - recommend it !

My only dissapointment was the no wake up call as I requested the night before my second departure (on the 23rd) Lucky for me I woke up on my own at 5.45am and got down to the lobby in time to get my blue van (already there for the 7 am pickup) The person at the desk said it was an error by the person who took the order, noting it on the book (I saw […] her doing it) was not necessary as the system is totally automated. Hotel was located little bit outside the main tourist attractions but it was close enough to metro/train/bus stops where this was not a major issue for us. It was clean and as roomy as expected in Paris. Front desk was helpful and the fact that you get a microwave and a small stove was definitely a bonus. Two connecting rooms with mini-kitchen. Great for those traveling with kids. Good size rooms and decent price for Paris. Neighborhood is fabulous. Lively with tons of options for food. Close to Metro and RER.

I highly recommend this hotel. Our room was good size for a European hotel and we had a small refrigerator, two electric burners, a microwave and a sink. The only negative with the room was the beds which were hard. I ended up folding a thick blanket and using it as an additional mattress pad which helped a lot. This hotel is located one block from a Metro station which is so convenient; and there are a multitude of restaurants in the area, all within walking distance. great location near vavin metro location - great room, good service and access to public wifi from my room I would reccommend this hotel walk down the street for twenty different bistros, lot of movie theatre in the area

The hotel claims to be 4 star, but it is a 3 star hotel. The bed was in a poor quality (the mattrace should have been changed 5 years ago). The hotel elevator did not work and the receptionist pointed out to the staircase when I asked how to get my suitcase up to the 4th floor. The room was quite small but from what I hear from others that have been to Paris this is to be expected. This hotel was located very close to the Vavin Metro stop on the number 4 line - which I found quite useful after hours of walking around all day. The room was cleaned every day - there was no mould etc found in our room like other reviews and […] our view was into the central court yard. The staff at the front desk were helpful in anything that we needed and it was very quiet but we went in January (everywhere was quiet thank god no long queues!!) The only negative I really had about it was the fact the bed was a pull out sofa bed - although my boy friend found it quiet comfortable and we both slept well I would still prefer an actual double bed. The reason I would not recommend this hotel to others is because I find people's tolerance levels are different and we're pretty laid back - other people might take issue with the size of room and bed. Villa Luxembourg is at a convenient location as it is close to the Metro, family restaurant, pubs, supermarkets, FNAC and other stores. It is 10-min walk to the Luxembourg Garden. My family was in Paris for 5 days. We love the air-conditioning, and all that were provided inside our rooms (we were given two joined rooms for 2 adults and 2 kids, with […] 2 bathrooms with heated towel racks, one queen bed, and two twin beds, an equipped kitchenette). With the amount of money we paid and what we got, we are very happy with this happy and highly recommend it. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. We were 2 adults, a 6 year old and a 1 year old, so we booked adjoining rooms. This worked out brilliantly! Lots of space for us, 2 bathrooms and microwaves and fridges - which is just what you need if you have a baby with milk, bottles etc. Downside as breakfast at 20 euros when you can get it for half that outside the hotel. This may have been a gorgeous hotel once but its is very outdated. There was mold in the bathroom and dust in the room. The staff were very nice and helpful for the most part. However, there was one very highly unprofessional, agressive and insulting man working late at night. Can highly recommend, excellent for the price!

We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room - more than ample with fridge and sink and a very comfortable bed. It was very close to transit (Vavin, and short walk to Pont Royal RER stop). The only disappointment was the fan in the bathroom was not working and so some mold was on the ceiling above the shower! First off, please ignore those reviewers who have complained about the size of the rooms at the Villa Luxembourg -- these have clearly been written by those who have little experience travelling in Europe or who are used to staying near airports. The rooms are fine; average by Parisien standards. The staff is very friendly and helpful (we had a non-functional […] phone switched out immediately). The neighbourhood is a tad on the expensive side admittedly, but most of the establishments are of high quality. Most important, however, is the hotel's location -- a minute from Metro Vavin on the #4 line and less than ten minutes from Port Royal on the RER C line (which services CDG). This will be my new new home base when I travel to Paris in the future! Read more

Hotelet har meget meget små værelser. Det står som et 4 stjernet hotel - det er det absolut ikke. Det svarer til 2 stjernet. Terrassen var lukket. Ærgerligt hotellet ikke står til færre stjerner så man ved hvad man får. Hotelpersonalet var søde og hotellet ligger perfekt.

朝早くパリに着いたので荷物を預かって貰い美術館に行き夕方チェックインした。こじんまりしたホテルでアットホームな感じがした。　最初に入った部屋はシャワーの具合が悪く次の日の朝別の部屋に変えてもらった。部屋は清潔でキッチンもついて電子レンジや冷蔵庫などもついていた。バスルームのなかのオイルヒーター式の洗濯物乾燥機は重宝した。部屋は日本人の感覚では照明が暗く感じた。磁気カード式のロックはいつも何度かやってやっと開いた。フロントでカードの磁気再登録をして貰ったがあまり改善されなかった。立地は大通りに面していて治安はよい。交通の便は大変良い。近くに買い物のできるマーケットやカフェ、レストラン、ファーストフードがいくつもある。経験した事だけ書きました。

J'ai decide de choisir cet hotel malgre plusieurs avis negatifs car l'offre promo d'Hotels.com etait vraiment une occasion rare. Et je n'ai pas regrette. L'hotel est idealement situe, pas bruyant, meme avec chambre sur le Boulevatd, propre,un bon lit et de bons oreillers ( ceux qui voyagent souvent savent que c'est loin d'etre le cas partout ), un acceuil […] sympa. Le plus - le coin cuisine, bien equipe avec un micro-onde neuf. La vaisselle et autres ustensiles sont disponibles a la reception pour 15 euros. Le moins - les joints noirs tout autour de la baignoire. En resume, le prix affiche dehors est prohibitif, car ce n'est pas un 4 etoiles ( elles ont d'ailleurs ete enlevees ). Passamos uma semana hospedados no hotel em dezembro de 2011. Adoramos a localização, com muitos bons restaurantes ao redor, estação de metro atravessando a rua e muita facilidade para chegar aos principais pontos turísticos de Paris.
