"Central loction, Very convenient fof train Station"
Comfortable rooms, nice en-suit, very clean rooms. Location of room was not great as large noisy extractor fans were situated very close to the windows which prevented me from getting a decent nights seep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Cold room even with the blanket on from the wardrobe room basic with repairs needed in the bathroom. (side panel coming off bath and veneer coming off bathroom door). Staff very helpful and pleasant and food was fineGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the rooms were quite cold. there was no air conditioning in the rooms, and while there was central heating, once this went off there was no way to keep the room warm. other than that the hotel was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was ok."
Room was very small, hotel uses public car park, TV was old and the breakfast really wasn't great, considering the standard in most Irish hotels now. Gym and leisure area was good and very handy for city centre. Great pub food in Gallaghers just down the road. Average overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One - night stay."
Hotel was fine, nicely decorated for Christmas, too. Staff friendly and helpful. Only niggles were that the room was quite small and the window opened onto a small utility area full of metal air ducting. Because of heavy rain that night, the noise caused by rainfall on the ducting was so loud that we both had to wear ear plugs in order to get to sl […] eep. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic location to Everyman theatre"
We went as were attending a concert in the Everyman theatre. Hotel was ideally located to venue with parking very close to hotel. The staff in hotel were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb. The only negative was that the room was quite small and whereas we were only there overnight with minimal baggage and not staying in […] the room for a lengthy period one might be better to request a superior double to best meet those needs. The double bedroom was very small. The water in the bathroom wash hand basin took ages to get warm & the pressure is terrible. There is no temperature control markings on the shower so it was very difficult to have a hot shower. There is only one very slow lift in the hotel which can only take three people at a time without been squashed.Genuine Expedia guest review
My go to when staying in cork, great value and staff were very helpful in assisting with parking nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to center park up and enjoy"
as per usual with our stay here can have no complaints well looked after and short stroll to city center which is also brilliant would never think of staying anywhere else while visiting cork cityGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is situated near all amenities, bus station shops restaurants, train station, hotel fitness facilities are excellent including pool.Genuine Expedia guest review
Although stayed here number of times this was very disappointing due mainly to size of room (shoebox) and no heating within roomGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not really worth it for the price"
The hotel has a great location. Very close to the city center shopping area, only a 5 minute walk. Room was very small however, for the price I payed and the name, I expected something a little bigger than a box room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"THE ONLY PLACE YOU SHOULD STAY IN CORK CITY!"
A wonderful and well-run hotel in a perfect location. This beautiful character hotel retains much of its glamour from years gone-by. The staff were fantastic, so friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The cleaniness of the entire hotel was second to none....absolutely spotless throughout! The food in the bar/lounge and restaurant were […] excellent and again the staff made all the difference, especially Martin. I couldn't recommend the Gresham Metropole more highly and a visit to Cork City. We took the Aircoach from Belfast to Dublin and then Dublin the Cork. The Aircoach stop is conveniently located right behind the hotel. This was such an enjoyable stay at the Gresham Metropole that we already planned a return in January. w Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Substandard Single Room"
As a single traveler I have learnt long time ago that for a single room you pay the most and not always get the best, but this was by far the smallest, ugliest and coldest room I have ever stayed at in any hotel. Room that size should be at least twice cheaper than it is. While checking out, I heard at the reception that some rooms don't even have windows […] - i.e. window is right on the wall (?!?) The receptionist was appologising to the client and saying that he expected management to get in touch with him and reemburse him. I think that clients should be told in advance, look the hotel is booked out, we only have this tiny ugly room to offer, at this fair price. And then you can decide for yourself if you want it or not. But I booked months in advance, I saw beautiful rooms on hotel's website, I paid the same rate as for double or tripple rooms which had four post beds, wardrobes, refrigerators, etc. It all made me expect a lovely room, so I must say I was quite disappointed. The rest is all good. Location is great, staff is friendly, atmosphere is relaxed, breakfast is served till noon on the weekends, check out is till noon - or later, everything is cool. I quite liked the hotel, just not my room. So, my recommendation would be, avoid single rooms - or try to negotiate the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"En route to Kinsale via bus from Kent Station"
TV channels very limited. Breakfast very poor & chaotic. Staff pleasantGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely characterful hotel"
The hotel is evocative of another era - a traditional hotel that has been updated while retaining lots of character. It is not luxurious, but it is comfortable and well-located. It is a bit annoying having to pay €7.50 to park the car overnight though.Genuine Expedia guest review
Showers did work right and were cold or lukewarm at best. No booklet with the number for reception or local taxis . Also no number for the leasure centre nor was there a booklet to say what floor it was on.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I stayed for 3 days and would highly recommend the gresham metrople in cork . service was first class. everybody was very helpful and friendly which is very important. rooms were spotless.situated in centre and very near bus station and train station which I both used while I was there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel close to everything"
I have stayed here a number of times and each time I come away a happy customer. From walking in the door to a warm welcome from the staff at reception, a clean and tidy bedroom, excellent food, and a nice gym and pool it has everything one would want. It is close to everything, shops, buses, other bars and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and […] helpful in every area of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was a beautiful hotel in a really great area, especially if you're travelling on foot. This hotel is around the corner from the main city centre, down the street from the train station and across the bridge to the train station - perfect location! The staff was great and changed us to a room with a fridge for no charge, the room was clean and quiet […] even though it was right over the city street, plus out room faced the river which was a nice plus! I booked this my second visit because the location is great for the city centre and the room I had on my first visit was excellent. However, it's turns out that I that time I had been upgraded to a superior room. By comparison, the room I was initially given on this visit was a bit shabby and very dark. I was there for a full week, so I happily paid […] an extra ten euros for a superior room. However, while this was freshly decorated and bright, it was very cramped; one had to move a table and chair in order to get to one side of the bed. It was also street-facing and extremely noisy. I ate in the Met Bar a couple of times and found the staff very friendly, and the food was OK and good value. The gym and pool looked very good for a hotel but I was put off using the pool because of the compulsory swimming cap rule. I would stay here again but it wouldn't be my first choice. "Do not expect anything special very very basic"
just back from my stay was so dissapointed with this hotel as it looked so nice in the pictures. It is nothing like the pictures at all, we were facing some old nasty dull building (room 219) which just ruined my trip to cork i had to keep the curtains shut as the view was so bad. i could not sleep at night because of the creeks from the floor above […] . The room was clean but was just so basic and dreary. The only good thing i have to say is the hotel was very central. there was a also a wedding on in the hotel and we were having drinks at the bar and 3 fights broke out in space of an hour. would never go back to this hotel. if i had of paid less it would not of been as bad but it was quite pricey for what we got. "Very dated, but friendly service"
It is a very dated hotel. It still had CRT (i.e. NOT a flat panel) TV in the room, or at least the two rooms that I stayed in on my two occasions there. Within minutes of getting there the first time I thought, "I will not be staying here again". However, during my stay I realised the staff were very friendly and there was a gym, pool, jacuzzi, sauna […] and steam room to use, which helped me relax on my overnight business stay. As such, I did book in again the following week! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is in need of some TLC. WiFi coverage throughout is good. Breakfast was good with a range of choice. Did not use restaurant as only bar meals served on the night. Went across the road to the excellent Isaacs restaurant (not hotel).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A great location for shopping, pubs and eating out. Staff were excellent, breakfast was well worth it. Room could be modernised and was very warm.we did not avail of the leisure facilities. Overall a great place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice well run hotel."
Close to the centre of town, yet very quite room. The food served at the bar was exceptional, and the staff there were very attentive and pleasant. The breakfast buffet was also of a high standard. Room was a little on the small side but the comfort of the bed made up for it.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great stay- lovely hotel and pool :-)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I am glad I went room only as I went for breakfast one morning and it was total chaos. This experience stopped me eating dinner in the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfort, service, and great location"
We enjoyed staying in this lovely, spotless hotel. The staff at the desk and in the bar were very helpful and friendly. Service at breakfast, unfortunately, needs much improvement. We easily walked to shopping and in the evening we attended the Everyman Theatre which was literally almost next door! We would definitely stay at the Gresham Metropole […] again. "I alredy submitted an enthusiastic review"
The hotel and the Irish Examiner and Evening Echo have almost no what's on tonight guide. We wanted to go to a music gig, show, dance, club etc but nothing was listed except major cinemas and DOpera House. In Counties Wexford and Wicklow where I live, the weekly Guardian and Echo newspapers provide most comprehensive event guides practically for each […] townland. De real capital must have at least one such freesheet, but none were in the hotel, the shops or pubs and restaurants in our otherwise wonderful 28 hours in Cork. Imp, could you email me the names of any such freesheets? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very pleasant, good location: near bus station"
Stayed in room 213 with a bay window facing MacCurtain St. at the front. Noise wasn't a problem. Room equipped with iron, ironing board & good hairdryer. Bathroom great, with a rain shower & extra wall mounted jets. Bathroom could do with better lighting, seemed a little dark & there were no tea / coffee facilities in the room, which was a shame. Still, […] the hotel is opposite a Spar, which is handy. Rest of the hotel was ok - perhaps some areas due for refurb., on the whole very pleasant & staff extremely friendly & helpful. The pool insists on the wearing of swimming hats & charges a surprise EUR2 for borrowing one. Would be wise to update the guest directory to include this. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Awful, pick another hotel"
Rude staff on arrival. No air con so all the windows in our room had to be left opened. Unfortunately they put us in a room on the main st. At 5am yes..5am the beer delivery started outside our window, you can imagine the sound of beer kegs being dropped from a lorry onto the ground and being rolled. Then the bins came to be collected. We gave up at […] 7am and got up, had planned to shop in Cork but we drove home instead. Spoke to other guests when leaving and they said the same...way too noisy plus they werent happy with their food. Never again!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We wanted to stay close to the Marquee for a concert and also secure parking. It served both those needs. A bit of a hike to the car park! Bar dinner was good. Breakfast for a hotel a bit ropey!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great Location Great Staff Valuefor moneyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the barman reccommended the seafood chowder and it was first class absolutely delicious best ever chowder and the ham sandwiches were lovely homecooked ham. The facilities were top notch clean room, shower and bath excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bed was quite small - probably only a standard double. Room was very warm, no air con and opening the window didn't help. Bathroom was nice, seems to have been recently re-done but there were jets in the shower that we couldn't get to work at all. We found it quite expensive for the overall standard of the hotel and it was room only.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Good Location - Ok Sleep"
Very close to all the important stuff in cork. This was good. Leisure facilites are great. Room is quite basic, nothing special. Would have preferred Jurys Inn having stayed in both hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel has great location, spa and pool very good, Wi-Fi works too how ever for me and my experience that’s were it ends. No Parking near the hotel, just a stop and unload area...so don’t leave your car outside for too long! Hotel Car parking is shared with an indoor public car park which is a few blocks away, The bar restaurant was very busy, could […] not cope with the food orders along with the existing customers plates all over the place.. The bedroom was small, old and worn; the bathroom doors were dirty with what looked like was coffee stains all down! The bath towels were thin and approx the size of a tea towel ...One Lift that’s slow and very busy. Breakfast was very poor...The TV was small and from the 70,s the bed was horrible and the pillows from the pound shop... When we arrived in the room, it was exceedingly warm; all the radiators were full on..? No air conditioning! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Outstanding leisure centre"
We loved our stay in the Gresham metropole. However the room temperature was too warm in the night and chilly in the morning, the bed was standard size and very flabby, finally we had a old style tv... However the location and the leisure centre is perfectGenuine Hotels.com guest review
