"Nice hotel, could do with air-con!"
Our room was a standard double, and was a good size - with wardrobe, dressing table, TV and another table, as well as a medium size double bed. Ensuite was in good condition, shower was hot with excellent water pressure. Only problem was that we visited in August and the room became very hot overnight and in the mornings, so we had to keep the window […] open constantly (which didn't make much difference!) "Centrally located short walk to the city"
Good hotel and easy to get to. Only downfall is the hotel has no car park but a 24 hour car park is only a minute walk away.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Best years are behind it"
This is a hotel that has reminents of great days but they are behind it. The room was small, it had a double and single bed and I have no idea why, there wasn't room for both and the double was very, very small as a result. That said, the room was very clean and the bathroom was very clean and tidy also. I used the pool, it was small and a bit out of […] date but clean and functional. There was only one tiny lift that was desperately slow - and the walk to the room once I got out of the lift took forever, it seemed like bits of annexes have been added on to the hotel over the years as it had a lot of twists and turns. The bar was ok, I didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. The charge for parking was €7.50 - a bit annoying. I stayed on a Saturday night and the rate for a double was €129 - the same as the other hotels like the Clarion, but this was nowhere nearly as nice as the Clarion. It needs to be overhauled, the decor is very out of date. But if the rate was cheaper it would have been fine, it was overpriced for what it is. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"No parking. Small room. Lovely hotel."
The staff here were great and the hotel is beautiful. Our room on the 4th floor was uncomfortably small. We only had 2 pillows between us and there was no bath. The parking situation was disappointing. Carpark is a block away which was fine but charged at €7.50 per day. I hadn't noticed this when I booked and was not made aware of it until check out. […] Overall fine but for a little more money could have had a much better experience in another hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice city centre hotel"
Leisure centre and gym nice.. Showers in room lovely.. Good locationGenuine Expedia guest review
The location is great and staff friendly. The mattress on the bed was too soft for my liking but the room was clean and well maintained. We had a problem with a noise which started at 6am on our first modrning and sounded like a power shower or air conditioner. When it was still audible later that day I contacted reception and they very quickly identified […] the source and rectified the matter. Otherwise the room was quiet. "Nice lobby poor rooms"
Nice lobby and bar and great location. The rooms were very basic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very helpful staff and great location. Gresham is great value value for moneyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room we had was very simple - it wouldn't quality as a 3-star stay. Perhaps a 2. We arrived in the late evening so didn't see the condition of the room until the morning and the walls and floor (carpet) were dirty. Hotel was painting with very strong smelling oils that woke us up the next morning. The bathroom was in poor condition and the 'hotel […] pool' is actually a club nearby that wasn't open when we arrived. We wouldn't choose the Gresham again - we had much better luck in Dublin, Ballybunion and Sligo. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok - it was fine."
We found it to be fine, though nothing exceptional. Bed was a bit on the small side and the shower was a bit idiosyncratic, but everything worked after a fashion.Genuine Expedia guest review
Couple of things weren't ideal; room-rate very reasonably , add an average buffet breakfast and the not-included off-site parking and it becomes far from cheap. To park you've to pull up in the loading area, if there isn't a coach in it, get a parking ticket, go back to the car, park in Patrick's Quay then come back, not ideal, but given city centre […] location necessary. "Very friendly staff"
When we complained that our room was cold, as radiators not working, staff obligingly provided a free standing radiator.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was very small...window opened out onto a wall of adjacent building! Parking was not mentioned in booking so was driving around for a while looking for parking...wasn't until I rang that I found out you get a car park ticket from hotel and that it was €7 a day! Location was very good though!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall very happy. Ingrid in particular deserves special mention for her outstanding ability at her job. A true asset to the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Breakfast was not very good!"
Staff were very friendly and room was clean. Breakfast buffet was poor! Food had been left out for some time on hot plates and was well over cooked.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was perfectly located to restos, shops, everything city centre related. We had an issue with the heat not working in our room and they didn't ask any questions and immediately moved us. My only negative about this hotel was that the regular rooms didn't have a small sitting area as hotels often do with a couple of chairs and a table. "Central loction, Very convenient fof train Station"
Comfortable rooms, nice en-suit, very clean rooms. Location of room was not great as large noisy extractor fans were situated very close to the windows which prevented me from getting a decent nights seep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Cold room even with the blanket on from the wardrobe room basic with repairs needed in the bathroom. (side panel coming off bath and veneer coming off bathroom door). Staff very helpful and pleasant and food was fineGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the rooms were quite cold. there was no air conditioning in the rooms, and while there was central heating, once this went off there was no way to keep the room warm. other than that the hotel was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was ok."
Room was very small, hotel uses public car park, TV was old and the breakfast really wasn't great, considering the standard in most Irish hotels now. Gym and leisure area was good and very handy for city centre. Great pub food in Gallaghers just down the road. Average overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One - night stay."
Hotel was fine, nicely decorated for Christmas, too. Staff friendly and helpful. Only niggles were that the room was quite small and the window opened onto a small utility area full of metal air ducting. "Fantastic location to Everyman theatre"
We went as were attending a concert in the Everyman theatre. Hotel was ideally located to venue with parking very close to hotel. The staff in hotel were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb. The only negative was that the room was quite small and whereas we were only there overnight with minimal baggage and not staying in […] the room for a lengthy period one might be better to request a superior double to best meet those needs. The double bedroom was very small. The water in the bathroom wash hand basin took ages to get warm & the pressure is terrible. There is no temperature control markings on the shower so it was very difficult to have a hot shower. There is only one very slow lift in the hotel which can only take three people at a time without been squashed.Genuine Expedia guest review

"close to center park up and enjoy"
as per usual with our stay here can have no complaints well looked after and short stroll to city center which is also brilliant would never think of staying anywhere else while visiting cork cityGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is situated near all amenities, bus station shops restaurants, train station, hotel fitness facilities are excellent including pool.Genuine Expedia guest review
Although stayed here number of times this was very disappointing due mainly to size of room (shoebox) and no heating within roomGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not really worth it for the price"
The hotel has a great location. Very close to the city center shopping area, only a 5 minute walk. Room was very small however, for the price I payed and the name, I expected something a little bigger than a box room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"THE ONLY PLACE YOU SHOULD STAY IN CORK CITY!"
A wonderful and well-run hotel in a perfect location. This beautiful character hotel retains much of its glamour from years gone-by. The staff were fantastic, so friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The cleaniness of the entire hotel was second to none....absolutely spotless throughout! The food in the bar/lounge and restaurant were […] excellent and again the staff made all the difference, especially Martin. I couldn't recommend the Gresham Metropole more highly and a visit to Cork City. We took the Aircoach from Belfast to Dublin and then Dublin the Cork. The Aircoach stop is conveniently located right behind the hotel. This was such an enjoyable stay at the Gresham Metropole that we already planned a return in January. w Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Substandard Single Room"
As a single traveler I have learnt long time ago that for a single room you pay the most and not always get the best, but this was by far the smallest, ugliest and coldest room I have ever stayed at in any hotel. Room that size should be at least twice cheaper than it is. While checking out, I heard at the reception that some rooms don't even have windows […] - i.e. window is right on the wall (?!?) The receptionist was appologising to the client and saying that he expected management to get in touch with him and reemburse him. I think that clients should be told in advance, look the hotel is booked out, we only have this tiny ugly room to offer, at this fair price. And then you can decide for yourself if you want it or not. But I booked months in advance, I saw beautiful rooms on hotel's website, I paid the same rate as for double or tripple rooms which had four post beds, wardrobes, refrigerators, etc. It all made me expect a lovely room, so I must say I was quite disappointed. The rest is all good. Location is great, staff is friendly, atmosphere is relaxed, breakfast is served till noon on the weekends, check out is till noon - or later, everything is cool. I quite liked the hotel, just not my room. So, my recommendation would be, avoid single rooms - or try to negotiate the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely characterful hotel"
The hotel is evocative of another era - a traditional hotel that has been updated while retaining lots of character. It is not luxurious, but it is comfortable and well-located. It is a bit annoying having to pay €7.50 to park the car overnight though.Genuine Expedia guest review
Showers did work right and were cold or lukewarm at best. No booklet with the number for reception or local taxis . Also no number for the leasure centre nor was there a booklet to say what floor it was on.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I have stayed here a number of times and each time I come away a happy customer. This was a beautiful hotel in a really great area, especially if you're travelling on foot. This hotel is around the corner from the main city centre, down the street from the train station and across the bridge to the train station - perfect location! The staff was great and changed us to a room with a fridge for no charge, the room was clean and quiet […] even though it was right over the city street, plus out room faced the river which was a nice plus! I booked this my second visit because the location is great for the city centre and the room I had on my first visit was excellent. However, it's turns out that I that time I had been upgraded to a superior room. By comparison, the room I was initially given on this visit was a bit shabby and very dark. I was there for a full week, so I happily paid […] an extra ten euros for a superior room. However, while this was freshly decorated and bright, it was very cramped; one had to move a table and chair in order to get to one side of the bed. It was also street-facing and extremely noisy. I ate in the Met Bar a couple of times and found the staff very friendly, and the food was OK and good value. The gym and pool looked very good for a hotel but I was put off using the pool because of the compulsory swimming cap rule. I would stay here again but it wouldn't be my first choice. "Do not expect anything special very very basic"
just back from my stay was so dissapointed with this hotel as it looked so nice in the pictures. It is nothing like the pictures at all, we were facing some old nasty dull building (room 219) which just ruined my trip to cork i had to keep the curtains shut as the view was so bad. i could not sleep at night because of the creeks from the floor above […] . The room was clean but was just so basic and dreary. The only good thing i have to say is the hotel was very central. there was a also a wedding on in the hotel and we were having drinks at the bar and 3 fights broke out in space of an hour. would never go back to this hotel. if i had of paid less it would not of been as bad but it was quite pricey for what we got.
