The hotel was very clean and the staff was incredible. Our room was very cozy and great to stay in. It was also close to everything. I The hotel manager was so helpful and attentive that it made our stay that much more pleasurable. absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to explore Edinburgh.

The cost of this stay was at a reduced rate and the room on the fourth floor mirrorred the type of accomodation provided. The room was an attic room, the roof was slanted causing difficult when trying to get in and out of bed. The shower had low pressure and the water was too cold, this was probably due to the fact we were on the fourth floor and the […] hotel was full. The staff were very accomodating and when we disclosed our concerns on checking out they stated that they wished we had informed them earlier. In retrospect we should have complained but as we arrived early on a Friday it was not until we showere on the second day that the shower was disfunctional. Food in the hotel was exceptional and credit must be given to the young waitress Maria for her attention, smiles and good service at all times of the day or evening. Cleanliness of the hotel could not be improved, one receptioness was short at times but the majority of staff provided an excellent service. An enjoyable stay close to the amenities but if I wer to retune I woudl ensure the room was as described in the marketing materail. Read more

My son and I stayed for a few days whilst we visited Edinburgh. The location was great; a few minutes walk through to grassmarket. The room, general cleanliness and staff were faultless, however what really let it down was the food. When we checked in, we were advised to pre-pay for breakfast so it only cost £7. If we paid on the day, it was £9 for […] continental, or £12.50 for a cooked breakfast. The selection of both was poor. I ordered scrambled eggs and salmon on a crumpets. The salmon was fine, but the egg had clearly been made in advance and sat in a pan to keep warm so it had congealed and hardened in parts. I refused to eat it. The breakfast on the whole was poor and the ingredients clearly sourced on the cheapest option not quality. The last night we ordered room service for dinner. I opted for the monkfish cheeks and noodles. The monkfish checks were essentially breaded fish; even worse was that they were raw inside!! I sent them back for the dish to come back and parts of it were now burnt. Appalling!! The hotel gave me an automatic refund. For the rest of our breakfasts we went to a cafe across the road called The Two Thin Laddies. Better options, proper food and much better value for money. Read more

The hotel is well located only ten minutes walk from Princess Street and the castle. Staff were very friendly. Only one minor thing, we ordered morning paper which did not arrive. Would stay again.

Nice basic, clean rooms & friendly staff but a little over-priced. Wifi is free. Breakfast was very nice. Just slightly out of city centre but only takes 10-15 minutes to get to Castle/Royal Mile etc. Overall a good place to stay - would go back again.

Lovely room and staff. The toilet was a little flimsy though, could have been better. About a 10 minute walk from the city. Lots of nice cafés around. Room was cleaned every day.

The hotel is a gorgeous old Edinburgh building with brand new interior. The room was spotless and looked very modern. Staff very helpful and cheery. Only little complaint was the breakfast didn't live up to the rest of the place though that could be because we turned up for breakfast about 5mins before it ended...oops...

Having read a couple of negative reviews before we went ...mainly whingeing about hotel refurbishment I was a touch apprehensive . No need to have been . All work seems to be complete and to a nice standard as well. Rooms although not massive are a decent size and of nice decor with lovely modern bathroom and plenty of storage. It was a great hotel, just the walls near the bed's could do with a touch up to get rid of the scuff marks. Other than that it was really nice stay and I would recommend it.

The Edinburgh City Hotel was excellent value for money. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The breakfast and evening meals were first class. All staff were helpful and cheerful. I would definitely recommend this Hotel and hope to stay when I next visit Edinburgh

Hotel was a beautiful building in a decent neighbourhood. A bit of a walk to the castles & royal mile, but close to grassmarket st with restaurants. Rooms were quite nice. We were on the top floor, so very quiet except for the odd siren. wifi worked very well, and the staff were helpful. Stayed at the hotel overnight.The room was clean and had all the amenities necessary to make our stay comfortable .The restaurant had a very limited menu ,next time I will go to one of the many restaurants close by.Front desk was very helpful,polite and knowledgeable. The hotel is located at 10 to 30 minutes walk from major attractions .

we booked a couple of double rooms - (try not to get room 104 as it's below street level and so the view is a brick wall looking up at some pavement.) limited parking at the hotel, street parking £2.00 an hour. rooms very nice and comfy, bar only small but we didn't try the restaurant ( too much choice elsewhere)

It took a bit of finding, as Google maps initially got the location a bit wrong, but once found I was very happy with my stay at the hotel. The bad was a bit on the firm side, but was fine for me. Very good value for money taking into account large room with good facilities, comprehesive breakfast, excellent service and location. The Edinburgh City Hotel was nice. The rooms are spacious, modern, and well kept. The surrounding area seems a bit dodgey but once you take a stroll around you'll find that it's not so bad. The location was great, hotel staff were very helpful. I would definately recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Edinburgh.
