"February stay in Edinbrough"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 22, 2013
Very clean with excellent staff. Free breakfast was generous and tasty. About a 10 minute walk from Prince's Street. Great place for the money. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Thanks Hotels.Com.
"Great hotel and location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 19, 2013
Would stay at the Scotsman again. It is attached to a public fitness center, so it was one of the best hotel gyms.
"Danish modern suites and more"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 16, 2013
The Glasshouse was a real find. The ultra-modern, yet comfortable suites made us long for extra time there. . .nice seating area with desk, sleek bathroom with deep-soak tub plus great shower. Looked out onto roof area, patio tables. "Snug" is lounge area with couches around inside firepit, with an honor bar. Glasshouse is in hot part of town next to a cinema-entertainment complex, easy walk to everything. Service was excellent. Only trick was finding it when driving. It's a former church on a busy block but address is down a tiny alley leading to parking garage. Drove past in rush hour many times; knew we were close; I finally got out and walked and asked people while my husband sat parked.

"Great hotel!"
The hotel was very clean and the staff was incredible. Our room was very cozy and great to stay in. It was also close to everything. I The hotel manager was so helpful and attentive that it made our stay that much more pleasurable. absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to explore Edinburgh.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Edinburugh city break"
The cost of this stay was at a reduced rate and the room on the fourth floor mirrorred the type of accomodation provided. The room was an attic room, the roof was slanted causing difficult when trying to get in and out of bed. The shower had low pressure and the water was too cold, this was probably due to the fact we were on the fourth floor and the […] hotel was full. The staff were very accomodating and when we disclosed our concerns on checking out they stated that they wished we had informed them earlier. In retrospect we should have complained but as we arrived early on a Friday it was not until we showere on the second day that the shower was disfunctional. Food in the hotel was exceptional and credit must be given to the young waitress Maria for her attention, smiles and good service at all times of the day or evening. Cleanliness of the hotel could not be improved, one receptioness was short at times but the majority of staff provided an excellent service. An enjoyable stay close to the amenities but if I wer to retune I woudl ensure the room was as described in the marketing materail. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice room, shame about the food"
My son and I stayed for a few days whilst we visited Edinburgh. The location was great; a few minutes walk through to grassmarket. The room, general cleanliness and staff were faultless, however what really let it down was the food. When we checked in, we were advised to pre-pay for breakfast so it only cost £7. If we paid on the day, it was £9 for […] continental, or £12.50 for a cooked breakfast. The selection of both was poor. I ordered scrambled eggs and salmon on a crumpets. The salmon was fine, but the egg had clearly been made in advance and sat in a pan to keep warm so it had congealed and hardened in parts. I refused to eat it. The breakfast on the whole was poor and the ingredients clearly sourced on the cheapest option not quality. The last night we ordered room service for dinner. I opted for the monkfish cheeks and noodles. The monkfish checks were essentially breaded fish; even worse was that they were raw inside!! I sent them back for the dish to come back and parts of it were now burnt. Appalling!! The hotel gave me an automatic refund. For the rest of our breakfasts we went to a cafe across the road called The Two Thin Laddies. Better options, proper food and much better value for money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Edinburgh City Hotel"
Nice basic, clean rooms & friendly staff but a little over-priced. Wifi is free. Breakfast was very nice. Just slightly out of city centre but only takes 10-15 minutes to get to Castle/Royal Mile etc. Overall a good place to stay - would go back again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel and staff"
Great hotel, lovely and clean with really friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is very conveniently placed close to the centre of Edinburgh, with loads about to see and do.Genuine Expedia guest review
Lovely room and staff. The toilet was a little flimsy though, could have been better. About a 10 minute walk from the city. Lots of nice cafés around. Room was cleaned every day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

nice room, quite big, good Scottish breakfast, free WiFi, kind personnel, only disadvantage -very thin room walls - you can hear almost everything what your next door neighbors doGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"fantastic weekend"
The hotel is a gorgeous old Edinburgh building with brand new interior. The room was spotless and looked very modern. Staff very helpful and cheery. Only little complaint was the breakfast didn't live up to the rest of the place though that could be because we turned up for breakfast about 5mins before it ended...oops...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel in a close location"
Having read a couple of negative reviews before we went ...mainly whingeing about hotel refurbishment I was a touch apprehensive . No need to have been . All work seems to be complete and to a nice standard as well. Rooms although not massive are a decent size and of nice decor with lovely modern bathroom and plenty of storage. Restaurant was newly […] refurbished and the breakfast and evening meals we had were very nice. Location is not bad ...an easy 10 - 15 min stroll to bottom end of princess st and about 20 mins to Waverley station . Staff very friendly and overall would recommend . "Walls need freshening up."
It was a great hotel, just the walls near the bed's could do with a touch up to get rid of the scuff marks. Other than that it was really nice stay and I would recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Superb Hotel and well priced."
The only thing not getting a 5 was the room as it was too hot at night, apart from that it was a lovely stay and we will go back again when time allows.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice stay at City hotel"
Hotel was a beautiful building in a decent neighbourhood. A bit of a walk to the castles & royal mile, but close to grassmarket st with restaurants. Rooms were quite nice. We were on the top floor, so very quiet except for the odd siren. wifi worked very well, and the staff were helpful. Breakfast unfortunately was not included, but there was a grocery […] nearby- we went there almost everyday! I would recommend this hotel, but would recommend a hotel closer to the sites if walking is an issue. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Tattoo Visit"
Felt that for the money paid for room only was far too high{ festival on...prob bumped up prices},room was small and didn't like the fact we were on the ground floor looking onto 4 motor bikes right under our window. Bar very small. Very small car park so had to pay for street parking. Room was clean and comfortable and in the middle of everything.Company […] was great so great time still had. Main gripes are you have to park on the street if you aren't lucky enough to get one of the five bays available and the rooms could benefit from a fan or air conditioningGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best Western Edinburgh City Hotel"
Very clean hotel, approx 15 walk from end of Prince's St on Lothian Road. Outside of hotel has a gothic facade, interior of hotel is modern++. Hotel is named Edinburgh City Hotel so I walked past it originally, as I was looking for the Best Western logo (not obvious). Large TV in room, Bath/shower was very nice & good size bathroom. Well appointed room […] under the eaves. Overall, I was very pleased, I was there x 4 nights. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"nice and quite handy for everything"
we booked a couple of double rooms - (try not to get room 104 as it's below street level and so the view is a brick wall looking up at some pavement.) limited parking at the hotel, street parking £2.00 an hour. rooms very nice and comfy, bar only small but we didn't try the restaurant ( too much choice elsewhere)Genuine Expedia guest review
this hotel was a little far out but was clean and the rooms were a good size. staff were friendly and helpful. "An enjoyable stay"
It took a bit of finding, as Google maps initially got the location a bit wrong, but once found I was very happy with my stay at the hotel. The bad was a bit on the firm side, but was fine for me. For breakfast you have a selection of items, and its well worth paying for them in advanced, as they range from about a tenner for the basic buffet, or a […] couple of quid more for cooked breakfasts, where you have a nice choice of a full Scottish, or a couple of types of fish. The hotel staff were welcoming and polite. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would happily stay in it again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Stay"
The Edinburgh City Hotel was nice. The rooms are spacious, modern, and well kept. The surrounding area seems a bit dodgey but once you take a stroll around you'll find that it's not so bad. The location was great, hotel staff were very helpful. I would definately recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Edinburgh.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
