"Very helpful Concierges"
great hotel, we arrived early for check in and our rooms were ready. Helpful concierges with suggestions for restaurants and how to get around Rome. Rooms were clean. Great having a bar and huge lounge area with sofas to sit around and relax. Breakfast was very good lots of variety, good sized room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A very satisfying stay"
We were very pleased with the overall atmosphere and comfort of our stay. The desk staff was particularly helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the fact that the hotel was not large and the room was quite pleasant. We prefer to stay in places that reflect the country we are in and this one fits the description. "Nice hotel next to metro"
Hotel Napoleon is a very nice hotel. The room was comfortable and clean but it is the staff who should get the praise. They do everything possible to make sure your visit is wonderful. The hotel has a very nice breakfast buffet and several evening social events where you can try some of the local wines and appetizers. Another benefit is the metro is […] practically right out the front door. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Rome, we would definitely stay there again. "A Terrific Place to Stay"
The hotel is a short walk from the train station. There is a train that travels between the international airport and the station. There is a metro station right outside the door of the hotel. These two facts make the hotel exceptionally convenient for travelling and sight-seeing in Rome. I should also add that you can catch a train to other Italian […] cities at the train station. I took an early-morning train to Venice and then returned that night to Rome. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are serviced daily. The staff is very courteous and helpful. Finally, the complimentary breakfast is outstanding. I never ate lunch and often had just a snack for dinner because I was able to eat such a large variety of food at breakfast. The food in the restaurant was terrible and the waiter was clueless .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I lived in this neighborhood years ago, so I knew that the hotel was close to the train station and directly on the metro line. This makes it very convenient, even though the neighborhood itself is not that interesting and a little sketchy at night. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was hearty, but the true highlight was the incredibly […] friendly and helpful front desk staff. Alitalia failed to deliver my luggage on time and the hotel staff went above and beyond to assist me. Even though I was only staying one night in the hotel, and then transferred to a rental apartment, the front desk staff continued to communicate with Alitalia and me in order to ensure that my luggage was delivered to the hotel where someone could receive it at any time. While Alitalia was a nightmare, the Hotel Napoleon did their best to assist me and I greatly appreciate them. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outdated hotel! Unpleasant service!"
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night only, as we were due to fly out of Rome early the following morning. The people working the front desk were unfriendly and unattentive. The hotel is very outdated, dark, and smelly. We were given a room with windows that opened up to a staircase - obvious unpleasant views and risk of theft. Our toilet, […] sink, and bathtub all 'gurgled' with water appearing as though it was about to explode out of each thing. We requested to be moved into another room, which was about the size of a shoebox. Also dirty and smelly. We will never go back to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"excellent location, close to Metro, superb staff"
The location of this hotel was the initial reason for choosing it. It is very close to the red line subway entrance and located across from a wonderful park. The accomodations were superb, especially for an inner city hotel, and the staff was superior. All of our needs were met quickly. We also were in contact with the hotel prior to our arrival to […] arrange transportation between airport, hotel and pier. They responded in English, a plus for us by email and spoke fluently upon arrival. All was arranged quickly, providing an unparrelled experience. We would not hesitate to return the next time we are in Rome. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel Napolean is conveniently located to the metro with a station just outside the door. The concierge was fantastic with helping to have transportation to and from the airport with emails before our stay. Cabs and restaurants were no problem either. "Great service; okay, but older hotel"
Concierge was extremely helpful; even met GM at hotel wine/snack meet and greet - A+++ for service and friendliness. 10 min walk to train station / 15 min walk to Colosseum, very convenient. Hotel is clean, but much older and rustic - very European, terrible shower. Room was good-sized.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok Hotel but Tired"
Strange layout. Small reception area on ground floor then tiny lift or stairs to first floor. Rooms on floors 1 to 6. Several times the lift didn't work and we had to climb 4 sets of stairs to room. No fun. Everything a bit tired. We had a superior room which had a small sitting area. The other rooms must have been really small but probably normal for […] Rome. Response by Napoleon Hotel There are two lifts to the rooms, and one of them worked perfectly. We had problems with a lift over the weekend, unfortunately our supplier, however, one of the best in the world, could not make the replacement until Monday. . It may be that there has been a brief shortage of information regarding the directions to reach the other elevator, that is in a hallway, that occurred just after the fault. But one of the two elevators was always available. The elevators have been replaced recently and the failure rate is minimal. I apologize for the inconvenience, but thanks to two lifts, this discomfort, the few times it happens, is usually very limited. As for the overall look of the hotel, I would ensure that we maintain continuously upgrading works and if we find signs of wear, they are always restored in a short time. We hope to have a chance of welcoming you again and make your stay totally pleasant. With my kindest regards Roberto Cioce, hotelier.

"Old hotel, good staff"
It's a gaudy old hotel that needs refurbishing. Carpets are worn, wallpapers are coming loose, furniture needs some upgrade. But the entire hotel staff was very good. The concierge was very helpful with sighseeing and transportation. I made the mistake of taking the train from the airport to the hotel, one stop thru the Terminus. It was a hassle. Response by Napoleon Hotel Thank you for your kind review. I am glad that you appreciated your stay at the hotel Napoleon in spite of some understandable remarks regarding part of the décor. On the other hand it is understandable that there are some signs of wear after a season in which the hotel was always very busy. I am pleased to inform our readers that just now we are starting some work to repair these inconveniences, without disturbing their stay and the quiet of the hotel. I am more than confident that on your next stay everything will be in order again. Thank you again for your review, and also for your useful remarks. "a good hotel to stay for short period"
I stayed there for 2 nights with wife and a 10 months old baby. Hotel is very closed to the Rome Termini Train Station (just 10 min walk) and metro station entrance is just infront of the hotel. Hotel staff was very friendly and cooperative. Room was prepared very neat & clean. They changed the room on just asking AC is not cooling quickly. "Horrible, very disappointed."
This hotel is not in a very good neighborhood. It is right in front of a subway entrance, which is a plus, however. The service here, though, is horrible. One instance involved me asking the concierge how to connect to the internet. After saying "your room number", I assumed he was trying to tell me that was what I used to log on so I nodded in acknowledgement. […] He said it again in a higher tone. I nodded again, and he yelled "YOUR ROOM NUMBER!". He was apparently asking me for my room number, but his tone did not indicate as such. This was a simple misunderstanding, but as someone who works customer service, I don't ever remember being taught that it is ok in any circumstances to raise your voice to a customer. After that incident, he would never greet me as I entered the hotel (but would other guests), which didn't seem a very adult thing to do. The only good thing about this hotel was the concierge who checked us in (not the same angry one). I did not catch his name, but he had a perfect command of English (I believe he may have been British) and was very helpful and polite. The rooms are very basic for a four star hotel. You are really only paying for the expensive looking sitting areas. I would not recommend this hotel after the horrible service and misleading room descriptions. Thankfully, we did not have to stay long. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Napoleon Hotel I am very sorry for the episode you mention in your review. However I am sure that it was just a misunderstanding. The person who replied to you very much probably thought that you did not hear his request and repeated his question in a higher tone. But I am sure he would not be rude and unkind. As a matter of fact, you can read in all the other comments a lot of Guests who praise the staff for being always helpful and welcoming, as you also mention regarding the other member of the staff with whom you dealt. I apologize anyway for the bad impression you have got and I will ask the utmost care to avoid any misunderstanding in the future. In relationships with customers the responsibility of the misunderstanding is always of whom offers a service. On the other hand I have to say that I find your review too much punitive for the hotel, and not understandable the very low marks for services that surely do not deserved them. We will do our best to improve, and guarantee always the feeling of Hospitality that is one of our most appreciated feature. I am however confident that our readers would value your comment toghether with the hundreds of very positive comments regarding the hotel Napoleon, and particularly its service. Best regards, Roberto Cioce, hotelier.

"Great Hotel in Rome"
This was the second time that we stay at this hotel, and we can honestly say that we would continue to stay here every time we go to Rome. "Nice Hotel but Breakfast Could be Improved"
The staff are all professional and welcoming. My room (standard) was comfortable. For this hotel to really bring on their A game, the breakfast offering should be improved and the carpet in the high traffic areas from the lifts to the entrance and the Breakfast Room steam vaccumed.Genuine Expedia guest review

"The place to stay when in Rome!"
All the staff, without exception, was very friendly and accommodating. With it's location, close to the center and the metro just outside the door it couldn't be more convenient. The hotel is an older one, and it shows here and there, but it doesn't take away from the experience. The rooms are on the smaller side, as is common in Europe. However if […] you are a XXL person you might not fit in the elevator that is the size of a small closet! We will definitely stay here again. "Luxurious hotel for the price!"
Great place to stay in Central Rome. It is literally right outside one of the entrances to the Vittorio Emanuele metro station, which is itself just one stop or a few blocks from Termini train station. So, very easy to get to... Got a last-minute deal on this one from a website that specializes in that sort of reservation, but really, I would not have […] a problem paying full price here. Of all the "four star" hotels we stayed in throughout Italy, France, and The Netherlands on this trip, this one had the largest and nicest rooms. I think they gave us a slightly larger suite-type room with a chaise/extra bed in it, but even without that part, it would have been a great hotel room - quiet and well-maintained. Love the floor layout, too: from the entrance you go up a very tall flight of stairs to reach the hotel lobby with bar; from there, if you are homesick, you will appreciate the Americanized floor numbering for the rooms since you are now on floor 1, not 0. Breakfast buffet was really good, too, and included for free with the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel, great location, a little dated."
Hotel Napoleon - Definitely not "American four star" rating, but it was exactly what we expected. The hotel & room was nice and clean, but furniture and decor was dated, shower was a little small, could hear housekeepers talking in the hall, AC was working fine. Considering that you spend the whole day traveling and sightseeing, looks of hotel become […] irrelevant. Breakfast was a great plus, they even accommodated us at 7:00am, when we had an early pickup for a day trip. Once had lunch at their restaurant, lasagna was very good. Great location, metro entrance is literally in front of the hotel, walking distance to Colosseum and Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. "Spartan hotel off the beaten path"
Hotel is located across from a small park and in the middle of a shopping district. During the day, vendors are setup to offer various items right on the street. Hotel is located to several local restaurants, and is about a half mile from the Colosseum. It is a longer walk to most of the tourist locations, although it has very easy access to the metro. […] Service at the hotel varied. We arrived early in the morning, and the front desk allowed us to check into one of our rooms about three hours early while we walked around the city. This was very much appreciated. In the evening, the front desk manager was extremely friendly, helping us to arrange a taxi to the airport in the morning and making a dinner reservation for us in the evening. Unfortunately, the impression of the service staff was ruined at check-out when a different front desk manager demanded the return of both room keys. My girlfriend couldn't find the second key, and it was a real issue. They even had security go up to the room and search the room for the missing key. We eventually found it, but not before my girlfriend and the desk manager exchanged words, and it was starting to get ugly. Again, it totally ruined my perception of the hotel staff, which is unfortunate, as up until then I had a positive impression. Don't think I would return to this hotel based on this experience. "Lovely hotel with spacious lounge near Termini"
We wanted a place next to the Metro and still close to where some monuments are, we found this hotel for a great price, and it was only a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum. The staff made great recommendations for restaurants every night, do try "RomAntica": a few minutes walk. The only problem we had is that they use rather "hard" beds which we had trouble […] sleeping on, but it took a few minutes to call service and to have them add extra padding (they also warn visitors about this). I stayed in the Napoleon for one night ahead of a early morning flight out. It's a short walk from the main train station which was nice. The room was small, but clean and well maintained. I didn't have time for the breakfast, but it looked good, typical continental breakfast food. "Great Hotel, convenient to metro, sketch area"
Stayed 3 days during a very hot weather week in Rome. That said, the staff was very helpful, friend if a little stuffy, and the room had working AC and wifi, which isn't a guarantee in Italy. The bar was a fun area with a happy hour and friendly staff (Kavir is the man), and plenty of other tourists to swap stories with. Metro station is literally out […] the door, and will take you to all the places you need to go for sightseeing. Also there are some great restaurants in the area just south of the hotel. That being said, the neighborhood is rough. Definately a bit spooky at night, and don't even think about walking through Vittorio park, its all bums, addicts and dealers, 24/7. "Close to Termini Station"
First, the positives: 1. Very easy walk from Termini Station to the Hotel 2. Subway right outside the front door of the hotel allows easy access to the Subway Station (however, Subway system in Rome is not like NYC as far as locations) 3. Very clean room and no complaints about staff 4. Good breakfast which was always well stocked 5. Quiet Rooms, even […] when located by elevator. The negatives are as follows: 1. Small room, however it was typical for a NYC room size so I didn't expect much more. 2. The location of the Hotel, while nearby the train station, wasn't very close to many of the main stites you will want to see, forcing you to either walk over 30 min to get to the sites, take a bus, cab, or subway.
