Hotel is well maintained, excellent location for Colosseum and Forum and an easy walk or one metro train stop or easy taxi ride from Roma Termini. Very comfortable, clean, excellent staff and highly recommended. I will stay again when in Rome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great property and staff"
Loved the location and affordability. Rooms are tiny as are most in Europe but who cares with so much to do in Rome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Luxurious hotel for the price!"
Great place to stay in Central Rome. It is literally right outside one of the entrances to the Vittorio Emanuele metro station, which is itself just one stop or a few blocks from Termini train station. So, very easy to get to... Got a last-minute deal on this one from a website that specializes in that sort of reservation, but really, I would not have […] a problem paying full price here. Of all the "four star" hotels we stayed in throughout Italy, France, and The Netherlands on this trip, this one had the largest and nicest rooms. I think they gave us a slightly larger suite-type room with a chaise/extra bed in it, but even without that part, it would have been a great hotel room - quiet and well-maintained. Love the floor layout, too: from the entrance you go up a very tall flight of stairs to reach the hotel lobby with bar; from there, if you are homesick, you will appreciate the Americanized floor numbering for the rooms since you are now on floor 1, not 0. Breakfast buffet was really good, too, and included for free with the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The front desk staff was incredibly helpful and polite. The only reason I had to mark the hotel down a little bit was because they did not have internet during my stayGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel, great location, a little dated."
Hotel Napoleon - Definitely not "American four star" rating, but it was exactly what we expected. The hotel & room was nice and clean, but furniture and decor was dated, shower was a little small, could hear housekeepers talking in the hall, AC was working fine. Considering that you spend the whole day traveling and sightseeing, looks of hotel become […] irrelevant. Breakfast was a great plus, they even accommodated us at 7:00am, when we had an early pickup for a day trip. Once had lunch at their restaurant, lasagna was very good. Great location, metro entrance is literally in front of the hotel, walking distance to Colosseum and Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. Staff was very friendly and they helped us plan few trips and advised us where else to go. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean, quiet big room"
Stayed only 1 night. Big clean room. Bed was comfortable. Neighborhood seemed ok. Carpet a little worn if I were to complain about anything. Other than that if your looking for a comfortable, clean spacious room don't hesitate to book.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Spartan hotel off the beaten path"
Hotel is located across from a small park and in the middle of a shopping district. During the day, vendors are setup to offer various items right on the street. Hotel is located to several local restaurants, and is about a half mile from the Colosseum. It is a longer walk to most of the tourist locations, although it has very easy access to the metro. […] Service at the hotel varied. We arrived early in the morning, and the front desk allowed us to check into one of our rooms about three hours early while we walked around the city. This was very much appreciated. In the evening, the front desk manager was extremely friendly, helping us to arrange a taxi to the airport in the morning and making a dinner reservation for us in the evening. Unfortunately, the impression of the service staff was ruined at check-out when a different front desk manager demanded the return of both room keys. My girlfriend couldn't find the second key, and it was a real issue. They even had security go up to the room and search the room for the missing key. We eventually found it, but not before my girlfriend and the desk manager exchanged words, and it was starting to get ugly. Again, it totally ruined my perception of the hotel staff, which is unfortunate, as up until then I had a positive impression. Don't think I would return to this hotel based on this experience. "Lovely hotel with spacious lounge near Termini"
We wanted a place next to the Metro and still close to where some monuments are, we found this hotel for a great price, and it was only a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum. The staff made great recommendations for restaurants every night, do try "RomAntica": a few minutes walk. The only problem we had is that they use rather "hard" beds which we had trouble […] sleeping on, but it took a few minutes to call service and to have them add extra padding (they also warn visitors about this). Breakfast was really good too, a nice mixture of continental and also some bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Decent room, but not the best location"
I stayed in the Napoleon for one night ahead of a early morning flight out. It's a short walk from the main train station which was nice. The room was small, but clean and well maintained. I didn't have time for the breakfast, but it looked good, typical continental breakfast food. The neighborhood isn't the greatest, I felt safe, but no real attractions […] nearby and it's not as nice as other parts of Rome. The hotel staff was fine, though the desk manager was a bit snooty. "Great Hotel, convenient to metro, sketch area"
Stayed 3 days during a very hot weather week in Rome. That said, the staff was very helpful, friend if a little stuffy, and the room had working AC and wifi, which isn't a guarantee in Italy. The bar was a fun area with a happy hour and friendly staff (Kavir is the man), and plenty of other tourists to swap stories with. Metro station is literally out […] the door, and will take you to all the places you need to go for sightseeing. Also there are some great restaurants in the area just south of the hotel. That being said, the neighborhood is rough. Definately a bit spooky at night, and don't even think about walking through Vittorio park, its all bums, addicts and dealers, 24/7. "Close to Termini Station"
First, the positives: 1. Very easy walk from Termini Station to the Hotel 2. Subway right outside the front door of the hotel allows easy access to the Subway Station (however, Subway system in Rome is not like NYC as far as locations) 3. Very clean room and no complaints about staff 4. Good breakfast which was always well stocked 5. Quiet Rooms, even […] when located by elevator. The negatives are as follows: 1. Small room, however it was typical for a NYC room size so I didn't expect much more. 2. The location of the Hotel, while nearby the train station, wasn't very close to many of the main stites you will want to see, forcing you to either walk over 30 min to get to the sites, take a bus, cab, or subway. Overall I would recccomend the Napoleon Hotel, for the money in Rome I was satisfied but not blown away. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel and great staff"
We liked this hotel and even though its an older hotel, the bathrooms have been updated. Its clean and we absolutely LOVED Franco. He went above and beyond helping us with anything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Napoleon hotel excels at customer service. The concierge was always willing to help with directions, confirming dinner reservations, maps and they even sold cards to the Rome subway. The room and shower were nice but small and get a little getting used to. The location wasn't bad as the subway was righth outside the lobby. Breakfast was included […] in the price so it was nice just to get up, have breakfast and be on our way. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was there two nights with two grown children and it was the most comfortable hotel we stayed in during our two week travels around Italy. Bathroom seemed large and comfortable compared to the other 4 star Italian hotels we stayed. The only negative is that the surrounding area is a bit run down, but not horrible. Also metro stop right outside door […] makes it easy to get to better points in the city. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was our first stop on our honeymoon trip to Italy, and what a GREAT choice to stay in! Not only are you very close to many great restaurants and sightseeing opportunities, but the metro is RIGHT outside the hotel and can easily connect you to many other places to see within Rome. "Liked this hotel!"
My husband and I really liked this hotel. The Napoleon Hotel is not fancy, but exudes old-world charm and down-to-earth comfort and amenities. Our room was large, comfortable, and quiet. The staff who handled the front desk and the concierge desk were friendly and helpful. There's a large, friendly lounge area on the first floor (not on the street level), […] with a small bar/cafe adjacent open to hotel guests. The lounge is all very casual and a perfect place to wind down from a busy day with a glass of wine or even some bar food. During our week there, there were two wine tasting events, with delicious hors d'oeuvres. The manager made a point of greeting the folks who attended. The hotel breakfast buffet was consistently very good. It was quite evident that this hotel is managed very well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel staff was great. Very accommodating, polite, and genuinely so. Hotel is older and shows some of its age. Rooms are small but most in Europe are that way. Bathroom shower in my room was small and had virtually no place for toiletries. Breakfast was very tasty and presented very well. Fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh breads, cereals, fruit, scrambled […] eggs with European bacon served hot. The Metro (subway) has an entrance (Vittorio Emanuelle) right at the front door of the hotel so it is easy to go to Termini or other points. It is within walking distance to Termini but don't walk along the street in front of the station too far West of the station, it gets seedy and unsafe feeling quickly, instead walk 4 blocks South and then go West for a much better neighborhood and safer feeling. There are plenty of hotels in this area so look for a better deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent service, Friendly Staff"
Hotel Napoleon was recommended by a friend and she was spot on! From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but once you walk in and are greeted by the staff, you feel like the most valued customer they have! The staff is friendly and informative. If you have a question about the area, tours, where to buy good wine...ANYTHING, they have an answer. […] The daily breakfast was wonderful as was the Monday night cocktail hour. The bartender is knowledgeable on wine selections and provides delightful conversation. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced hotel, a little off the beaten path, but there is a Metro entrance right out the front door and the Termini station to the buses and trains is just a short walk away (or a quick ride on the Metro). Grazia to the staff for your exceptional service!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel was our home away from home. It was our first time in Europe and the staff was just amazing. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay that much more special. They answered many of the questions we had and even called a local restaraunt to make reservations for us (arguably our best meal we had in Italy). Not to mention, the rooms are […] beautiful, comfortable and very clean. The free breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. The location was just outstanding...it was a very nice, scenic 10min walk to the colessum and about 5 yards away from the metro to take you the Vatican, Spanish Steps, etc. I would highly recommend this hotel for people who are looking for a relaxed, comfortable and no nonsense place to stay in Rome. The staff treats you like your at home and for that alone is worth the price to pay for a place to stay, especially if its your first time visiting. "Nice hotel, amazing staff, good location"
This is the most "guest friendly" hotel we have stayed at. The staff is fantastic -very friendly, attentive, warm, helpful. Rooms are simple and clean. Breakfast is good. "Overall, great hotel."
This is a pretty great hotel, with some of the best staff I have seen so far. Some of the staff look like no-nonsense people, but they will do everything possible to help you out. Definitely ask them for restaurant choices around the hotel. They pointed us to some excellent places withing walking distance of the hotel. The hotel rooms are clean, but […] small, even for a 4-star (European-scale?) hotel - this might be typical of European hotels. Another downside was that the street right outside the hotel is filled with hawkers, and I found it slightly uncomfortable when the random folks kept staring at us (my wife more than me). But otherwise, this is a good hotel. The metro is right outside (big plus), and the main train station (Termini) is a 10-min walk away. Very decent (complimentary) breakfast buffet as well. "Napoleon Hotel - A great value."
Everything about this hotel was top notch, it's location, condition of the rooms, breakfast, etc., but it was the staff that made my stay so enjoyable. Everyone on the hotel staff was eager to help, but it was the two concierges Roberto and Franco who really went above and beyond and made my stay so memorable. They made recommendations for laundry service, […] tours, places to eat and sights to see and every recommendation was spot on. The hotel is perhaps a ten minute walk from the Termini Train Station. Within 100 feet of the hotel entrance is the entry to the subway, which is one stop away from the Termini Station, a main subway stop serving both of Rome's subway lines. There are numerous restaurants in the area. The room size and the bathroom size were decent. Like most European hotels the shower was a bit small, but very modern and clean. I would stay there again without any hesitation and I would rely on Robert and Franco's recommendations without any hesitations. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice Hotel, near historic sites"
Nice Hotel. Rooms were a bit small but we were out and about most of the time so it did not matter. Mattress was very hard but we found this to be true throughout European Hotels. There was a pigeon nesting on the AC unit just outside of the window which proved to be very noisy. All in all a good place from which to see Rome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"3 Star Hotel, 5 Star Service"
Pros: Location, location, location. The hotel is located seconds away from the Vittorio Emmanual metro stop which is extremely convenient and helps make your trip affordable. Using the metro you can easily get to any historical landmark and Termini is one stop away. The hotel staff was very friendly and the service was top-notch. Free breakfast, but […] stick to the coffee and croissants. Clean room. Great for mature couples. Cons: This hotel is rated 4 star, so if you are expecting the Westin or W, you will be disappointed. The building is 200 years old and it looks like it was last remodeled/upgraded in the 60's. Once you get over the old, dingy smell and the strange figurines, you will enjoy a clean and simple room. Although the area around the Hotel Napoleon is somewhat unappealing (which is a fairly recent change), there is a lovely small park immediately across the street, a subway entrance (A/red line) right outside the entrance, and a nice wine shop next door. The hotel building is a historic 19th century structure and has many features of hotels of that era. […] The common rooms are quite splendid and large, next to a nice bar and an attractive restaurant/breakfast room. My room had been recently renovated and was stylishly decorated. The management of the hotel is worthy of particular praise; a chart posted in the elevator with names and photographs of all staff is indicative of the personal approach at the hotel.
