I had to send several boxes of samples ahead of my visit, and the staff was extremely helpful with that. Rooms are elegant and spacious with excellent beds. Add to that a very reasonable price and there is really an ideal hotel for business and pleasure.

The Melia is very nice , close to other Hotels with Casinos. The noise from smokers outside the casinos was the only problem. The pool and Gym are small, but have very nice attendants. Minor thing: the only hotel in the world that has only one coffee package for your whole stay; with a coffee maker in the room that is silly cheap

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and the prices of the food in the restaurant were really reasonable. I expected much higher prices, but the food selection and quality were very good. I did not like that you had to pay for wifi service, but it was reasonable at $9 a day. That's kinda the general rule in many hotels. I have seen […] prices as high as 19 a day. Rooms were very comfortable, clean, modern. Walls were a little thin. Could here the people next door talking at night and in the morning. Still don't understand why taxis want to charge $25-40 to take you to the airport from hotels. Stayed nearly 3 weeks, not a single complaint. Good restaurant, pool, tennis courts, exercise room, etc. My room was spacious and comfortable. Minibar in the room was great, complimentary newspaper at my door each morning, etc. . Looking forward to the next business trip here.

pleasant above all but there is only one thing to comment: if you decide to dine in the restaurant be prepaired to spend some money. An average mill in the buffet will cost you over 35 dollars and the food is good but not as good for the money.

Stayed two nights here at the end of a 9-day trip (most of the trip was in Las Terrenas). We wanted to do sightseeing in the Zona Colonial and be close to the airport for our departure. The Hotel Melia was pretty much exactly as pictured on the website. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the service was friendly and efficient. The pool was larger […] than I expected and very clean. The only complaint was that our room key (a magnetic card that is also needed to use the elevators) stopped working twice. Not a big deal (just went down to front desk and they reprogrammed it) but irritating. Otherwise everything was smooth, easily up to the standards I expect from any other major hotel chain in the US or Europe. The buffet breakfast was pretty good but definitely more of an American style of food. If you want something more Dominican then there are plenty of other places to go. The immediate vicinity is characterized by big hotels along George Washington avenue with the sea on one side and a nice tidy residential neighborhood behind the hotel. You can easily walk to the Zona Colonial (the old historic district) in 15-20 minutes but some areas along the way are a little sketchy - fine during the day but maybe worth a taxi at night. The unique Meson de la Cava (a restaurant literally built in a cave) is a short cab ride away and worth it for the food (quite good) and experience even though it's a little pricey. Read more

I have stayed here 4 times during Christmas. I feel the custumer service to be excellent and the location extremely convinient. I feel the hotel to be a good choice for the value and the price. It's one of the major hotels in the Malecon and is close to Colonial Zone two other major hotels and a great number of restaurants.

Despite of traditional Dominican courtesy and friendly behavior, the hotel itself lack of most of the Melia standards worldwide. had a wonderful time in your hotel!! stayed on LEVEL, the way to go i think. enjoyed the wine and food at 5pm! room service, maid service was very good. had one not so good meal in restaurant, was buffet, food was cold on buffet, the restaurant did not charge though, was kind of them. otherwise a very enjoyable time.

Worst stay in any hotel I have stayed in in the 39 countries I have visited. No respect, uninformed, no resolution of issues, poor attitude, etc..... Only the cleaning staff were worht the money they are being paid. Had to change rooms no help no compensation ntohing. Problems reported to the front desk never resolved. The best thing about the Melia Hotel is its staff. Great service, great attention. Breakfast has to improve a little bit but its ok. They should include more fruits (not only pineapples and papayas). Room was very clean and when I requested to change the bed skirts they did it without hesitation. Room bar is too expensive for the items included ($5 […] dollars for a Snicker is too much!!). The hotel is located across from the sea. You need to cross a main road to get to it. There is no beach, just rock, but we didn't expect there to be. We had a car and drove an hour to Juan Dolio beach, a great place to visit. Anyway, the hotel had a lot of security and we never felt threatened. All in all, the hotel was nice, but I'd rate it only 3 […] stars. The New Years Eve party was good and the food fantastic. The workout room was very nice, but the "trainer" staffing it was useless, just sat in his office. The pool was also nice, but the bartenders couldn't even make a Mojito, which is what we all wanted to drink at the pool everyday. One would think that this place would be proficient at Mojitos. They never had mint, but other places around town all had mint. There was always an excuse about why they didn't have mint. The parking was safe, we never had any issues. The only downside is that when you look at the pics it appears as though you can go to the beach when in fact there is not a access to the beach. It is across from the beach but the bank is large rocks and the water reaches the rocks so laying out or doing anything 'on the beach' is simply not possible.
