Very satisfied. Dinner and wine expensive. The hotel did not accept US credit cards for payment. (They accepted European ones). Reason given: US banks charge too much commission.

The hotel was very clean but the main lobby always smelled like amonia. There is no restaurant-but a cafeteria. No room service at all and the food was mediocre and over priced. If you arrive at Sol Principe after the alloted meal times then you will be forced to leave the hotel premesis to eat or get food out of a vending machine. They always seemed […] to have trouble processing credit cards at the bar, cafeteria and the shops at the hotel -which forced us to use cash. The pools are great and clean and the location of the hotel to the beach is unbeatable. The the staff was marginally pleasant and helpful but the grounds are beautiful. If you're looking to take excursions to Granada, Tangier or any where else, the Sol Principe is not a convenient location, (at least two hours on a tour bus) but if you're just looking to relax at the beach and pool, then this is a decent place to stay. This hotel is perfect for families with small children. We were just there as a couple but noticed that most of the guest were young families. There are plenty of pools and programs for the children. The breakfast food in the buffet was very good and varied. It is on a centeal areas of Torremolinos and being on the boardwalk is a bonus. I would highly […] recommend it. European style of hotel with small rooms and very hard mattresses and firm pillows. The air conditioning in the rooms worked satisfactorily but could have gotten the room cooler for my taste. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pools were nice and well kept and easy access to the beach right across a two lane road. Dont let the pool fool you it's only open certain hours of the day. If you are over 65 years old or are new parents this place is great. Otherwise save your money. Staff was rude and the bed felt like you were laying on a box spring. Two thumbs down

After having stayed in another 4 star hotel in Malaga the week before we were extremely dissapointed in the service of Sol Principe. First of all, just checking into the hotel took 20 minutes, that is not an exaggeration....then I had to pay and extra 12 euros just to have my fiance stay with me. After that we get put in our room, very ugly colors too. […] The beds were two different lengths and two different kinds of mattresses. (normal to have two beds in Spain but this was just lazy) Also, there is no carpet in the hallways so you hear EVERY step and giggle from people walking by. The TV was tiny and old. The view was decent, but did not make up for everything else especially since that room cost more. In addition to all that, internet was not complimentary like the other 4 star hotel. When we wanted to go use their pool, which is pretty cool, they tried to make us go buy beach towels! Who doesn't provide towels for their pool?! Finally after arguing with the guy my fiance got us two more room towels to use. So then, breakfast......well our flight was leaving early so we had to be out before 8...we already paid for breakfast with the room. They don't serve breakfast till 8....really....They let us in to snack on rolls and have coffee but we were just finishing at the top of the hour and they still did not have all the food out! Ridiculous we paid for a good breakfast and had to eat pastries. Stay somewhere else, the service here is far from 4 star. Read more

What a great hotel and a super bang for your buck! We stayed for two nights with our three year old son. The swimming area for children was incredible! Definitely get the breakfast buffet with your room; it´s a great value and the selection is wonderful. It´s not a Las Vegas buffet mind you, but still was a welcomed treat that exceeded our expectations […] for Spain! Very clean. It´s right next to teh beach - just walk from the swimming pool to the beach in 1 minute. We took a cab from the airport and I think we got overcharged (30 euros), but there were 5 of us and 5 suitcases. You could potentially walk to the bus stop or train stop (Torremolinas stop) from the hotel, but I wouldn´t recommend it at night if you don´t know where you´re going because it´s about a 15 minute walk with a few turns. The Sol Principe is located at the east end of Torremolinos and right across the street from the beach. The lobby area is nice and has free wireless. The breakfast is good with a wide variety of foods and plenty of it. The hotel caters to families with children so there are a lot of kids running around at breakfast and in the hallways occasionally. […] The room walls are rather thin, so if you have noisy neighbors, you might not get much sleep. The information for the hotel listed wireless in the rooms, but there wasn't any (or even a wired ethernet connection). The beds were less than comfortable and we had a hard time getting enough rest. The toilet in the bathroom made a terrible squealing sound when refilling -- we asked for it to be fixed but it never was. The only toiletries provided was hand soap. The air conditioning was turned off despite 80 F temperatures during the day. The hotel is a bit away from the center of town and restaurants. However, we do recommend the Vietnamese restaurant next door and the Italian restaurant down the street at the traffic circle. All in all, the hotel was okay with wonderful views of the Med, but it is definitely not up to its claimed 5-star rating -- it's more like a 3 1/2. Read more

This is a big hotel, with a nice location right next to the beach. Make sure you get a room with a balcony facing the sea. The hotel is oriented towards families, so stay away if you don't like children. There was no room service available, which is strange for a hotel of this size.

My friend and I were staying for the weekend as we had business to do nearby. Beds slightly too soft and mosquitos seemed to have taken up residence in the bathroom ceiling from which they emerged to feast at night! Breakfast good, staff friendly and willing to help. The hotel is centrally located almost next to the ocean and not far from city center. For being a 4 star hotel the standard of the rooms is very basic and old fashioned. The main reason why I booked this hotel was due to the huge outdoor pool, it was however closed (in March). Great, large, clean hotel with a huge lagoon pool (which was practically empty during our trip), perfectly located across the road from the beach, and only 10 mins from Malaga airport. Hotel is perfect for those looking for a few days at the beach/pool, and appears to be family friendly (we travelled without children but there were facilities for children). […] The only downside is the beds are slightly uncomfortable and you'll find that the food served at lunch and dinner is the same for both meals, each day, but there is plently of variety, it's fresh and constantly refilled so it's not all bad. The staff speak and entertainers perform in multiple languages (Spanish, English, French, Italian). In addition to the above, we order our holiday on line with one of your agents and because we booked a low cost airline, we were not offered to book our luggage. When we got to the airport, we had to pay £100 to get our luggage back and forth for 2 bags for 4 of us. We didnt realize that Expedia couldnt book our luggage in advance and the Monarch people […] were very sympathetic to our situation, but said that Expedia has not built a system that allows their agents to book luggage. The way out for them is to say there could be additional fees to pay. This is shocking service and we could have chosen a more expensive airline and it would have been cheaper if we had not had the baggage fees. Read more

First class Hotel!! Food could not be faulted! Freshly cooked in front of you! (from fish to meats to paellas to steaks to you name it it was there for your delight! Rooms first class! Swimming lagoon is fantastic! Adult pool is quiet and set well away from the "Lagoon" We could not find any bad features at all for the "Sol Principe"
