This hotel is a good value, with a good location close to Luxor temple and reasonably comfortable rooms. But we were very disappointed that we could not enjoy the ambiance of the the roof top lounge/restaurant area for two out of the three nights we stayed at the hotel. This was because of a large group birthday party one night and a group tour meeting with a noisy loudspeaker another night. The roof top area is nice and we wanted to be able to have a drink and enjoy the view of the Nile and Luxor temple, but it was too noisy with the group acitivities for us to enjoy being there.

"A sanctuary in hectic Cairo"
The Sheraton is a bit out of the way from the rest of Luxor (about 7 minute cab ride to the center), but the little trip is well worth it. It's an oasis from the hectic Luxor. The other major hotels, are closer to the sites, but are on the busy street and has less river front property and is less serine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for couples."
My wife and I spent 4 days of our honey-moon there. We liked it very much! The location is great. The room is clean and comfortable. The staff are descent. The food is delicious with reasonably priced lunch and dinner in the hotel Karnak restaurant. We made use of a surprise the hotel was offering; a daily 45 minutes of free internet access at the hotel […] business center and printed our trips' vouchers. We had a leaking bathtub in our originally booked room. We talked to the receptionest, he didn't help. May be it was a misunderstanding. Talking to the acting manager at night, he was very descent, appologized for the unintended mistake and asked us to move into another room he arranged for us even upgraded it to a room on the River Nile as a gesture of appology. The hotel offers a free bus shuttle covering the route from the hotel to Luxor museum and back 3 or 4 times aday. It was really a great vacation we enjoyed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A perfect experience for the most part."
I really enjoyed our time at this hotel. I bring a small group every year, and plan to continue. However this year there were a couple of women receptionists that were strange to me and accused me of not staying at this hotel - I don't know why. I will stick to talking to the male receptionists and all will be good. The staff in the restaurant is excellent […] as well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location for touring Luxor area."
Location is lovely, on the river, south of the city so quiet. Pool deck and chair area on the river side pool were very dirty and dusty. We didn't use the other pool although it looked nice. The pool closes at sunset, which is normal but after a long day of touring, would be nice to hang out there a bit longer. Dining room wait staff was very attentive […] and personable, breakfast buffet great. We had a river view room with a porch overlooking the river, a king bed which was very comfortable, room small but adequate since we weren't there very much. I'd stay there again for the convenience. We stayed there because it's a Sheraton. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great time in Luxor"
The staff were friendly, and in every incident where things weren't quite as I'd been promised, they made it right. The one downside is a big one, though -- on Expedia, standard rooms are labeled as being river-, pool-, and garden-view, but they wanted to put us in a city-view room, because, as the guy on check-in duty said, "All standard rooms are […] city-view." After complaining, showing him the ad on Expedia, and asking for a manager, my wife and I were eventually assigned a room that overlooked the pool, garden, and river. I'm glad they got it right, eventually, though it seemed deceitful to say one thing on Expedia and change it in practice. Overall, though, it was a very good experience. The staff were friendly and professional. The hotel had beautiful grounds and view, which made for a very relaxing three days. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A peaceful retreat"
The Sheraton Luxor was clean, comfortable and quiet. It's quite a long walk from the town center, so most people would prefer to take a taxi. Hotel taxis cost at least 3x the local rate, but one can simply walk just outside the hotel grounds to get a cheaper taxi from among the many waiting there. Good view of the Nile from the room. The Italian restaurant […] at the hotel offers reasonably good food and service, though it has no Nile view. Inversely, the main restaurant in the lobby area has a great view of the Nile from the terraces but the food is mediocre and a bit overpriced and the service can be a bit off. Didn't use any of the hotel's services, so can't comment on anything other than check-in and check-out, which was friendly and efficient. Luggage storage for a few hours on check-out day was not a problem. A colorful touch: there's a quirky band of musicians who play a few bars of traditional music whenever people arrive or depart from the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Luxor in comfort"
My wife, two adult daughters and I stayed at the Luxor Sheraton 26-29 May 2011. We are experienced international travelers to out of the way places. One daughter lives in Cairo and speaks Arabic. The property is on the east bank of the Nile and is remodeled to standards for a good US hotel. It is secure, including a structure and staff that shield guests […] from the sometimes tiresome hawkers. The food is safe and good, with a number of restaurants to choose from and good room service. As with hotels of this quality in tourist areas, the prices are closer to EU or North American charges than Egyptian local charges. Due to the revolution, occupancy was very low but this did not seem to affect the service. We were greeted cordially by management with a cold glass of hibiscus tea upon arrival and things got even better during our stay. We were upgraded to adjoining suites with a spectacular Nile view. Within minutes of arriving in our room, someone came by to see if we needed anything. When one of us became ill (for reasons unrelated to the hotel) they offered us well suited food choices from their buffet for free. All the staff was friendly, with a good sense of humor. Shops inside the grounds provide for all our needs. While the property was at the end of a row of hotels along the Nile, taxis were inexpensive and plentiful and the hotel ran a shuttle bus. Getting around was no problem. If you are looking for a new facility, we highly recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Luxor during the revolution"
We checked it 5 days into the revolution in Cairo but you couldn't tell it from the hotel; smooth and relaxed at 2:00 am check in. The staff were somewhat pre-occupied with their revolution, but they took good care of us for the three nights we were there. We loved it and will definitely stay there when we go back to Luxor, which will be soon.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good option for Luxor visit"
While our stay was not perfect - there was some difficulty upon check-in and the daily breakfast was weak at best - the Sheraton is still a well-located, reliable, and comfortable base from which to explore the region. "Lovely Luxor Experience"
This was my second visit to the Sheraton at Luxor and this time I booked a room with a view over the Nile which made it even nicer. Sipping a cup of coffee and watching all of the early morning activity on this massive river was delightful. All, repeat, all of the staff here were wonderful! Happy smiles greeted us when we arrived for the full breakfast […] buffet and continued when we made our way to the pool. The attendants jumped to assist us when the sun became intense readily moving umbrellas to provide shade and promptly delivered water and ice when requested. Watching World Cup quarter final soccer matches in the lounge with happy hour prices was a plus and we even sampled the Disco late one evening. I was pleased that many of the same staff were still there and remembered my earlier visit in late March...Ahmed at the pool even remembered my choice of wine!! Don't know if that is such a good thing?? Gem tours ,which is on the Sheraton complex, provided excellent service yet again when I requested Mahmoud to guide us around the temples and Valley of the Kings. His knowledge of "his" Egypt was amazing! The bed met, as was expected, the outstanding Sheraton standards and the room was very well maintained. Since we had a late flight being able to arrange for a 9:00 p.m. checkout was really appreciated. In short...the only drawback was we had to leave! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The manager and his team make this home from home"
We've been taking our winter break at the Sheraton in Luxor for the past 7 years and feared it might have lost some of its charm with the reacent turmoil in the North. Our fears couldn't have been further from the truth! Despite the awful downturn in visitor numbers, the Nubian management and staff have gone out of their way to welcome their guests. […] Food choices are fair but down from the volume in the halcion days but these issues are more than mitigated by the sterling, attentive service - and the local wine is now drinkable! Upgrade to the Nile View rooms and Club floor. The Club room has complimentaries and wi-fi. We went for the presidential suite - wow! Just a shame about the noise from the moored-up cruise ships (avoid the tankers like the plague). This is a great base to explore - get out on your own (the taxi drivers now apologise for hastling tourists) . Walk down to the public ferry by the Winter Palace, cross to the west bank (1 egyptian pound 10p) and hire a bicycle from the chap by the market for 10 Egyptian. From there explore the temples and villages at your own pace. Another day jump on the train (if it arrives) to Aswan. Lets get support these communities - they are good people and depend on tourism. "Wouldnt go back - definitely not Sheraton standard"
Hotel is tired in public areas. Food was very disappointing and overpriced. Drink prices were outrageous - a softdrink you pay EGP 3 for anywhere else you pay EGP 20 for at the hotel - 700% markup... On a positive side staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms whilst small were of a very good standardGenuine Expedia guest review

"Sheraton Hotel in Luxor - Peaceful"
The hotel villas are beautiful but the view can vary; ours was forgettable (so much we never opened the shutters). The hotel restaurant and pool have beautiful views of the Nile and the setting is extremely peaceful. Breakfast buffet and dinner are on the lower end (certainly not 5 star) and whatever you do stay away from the Italian restaurant; although […] pasta is something difficult to screw-up they managed to serve the three of us the worst pasta we had ever tasted. Service is courteous and good. Overall recommendable hotel as long as you eat somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Travelling solo some concerns"
Very good value and good hotel. Nothing special but good hotel. Staff very helpful and trained well. The pool is great and the view is stunning so do get a Nile View room. Otherwise why have a room. It is the view that is worth it. Just want to mention as a solo traveller and female. Be smart when you leave the hotel as hassled/harrased by Egyptian […] men...so however you choose to deal with them just be wise and do not say you are single or walk to the Bank unaware of who is in the bank and outside as they do sometimes wait for you to come out of the bank in the hopes you will take a ride with them back to hotel...I am very travelled and was suprised and intimidated by the local Egyptians. Just be more aware of surroundings. I would not go out alone at night personally. But the food in the hotel itself is not that good. Good Pizza place but most guests seemed to leave the hotel in th evening to restaurants outside but if you travel solo you may not want to go out in the evening alone. "Sheraton Luxor, nice location at the Nile"
We (2 adults and one child of 6 years) stayed at the hotel for 4 days, in April 2011 on a bed and breakfast basis. On the plus side counts a very nice location along the Nile. Rooms were clean and nice and of a standard which can be expected from a hotel at that category. Luxor is a comparatively small town, so even though not situated close to the […] centre of town, we did not find that a problem. We had our own car, but taxis are found in abundance. Staff also gave a nice and friendly service, again in line with what you will expect. The main restaurant had a decent, not exorbitant buffet, good value for money. We enjoyed visiting the Italian restaurant on the site which we also found offered good value for money. On the minus side counts: Rooms were too small for an extra bed. The Indian restaurant in our opinion was overpriced, and we found that the value for money was not satisfactory. Obviously our 6 years old was missing the entertainment for kids, that we have experienced at other more family oriented resorts. Overall we had a nice and enjoyable stay. "Sheraton i Luxor - dyre restauranter og dårlig mad"
Hotellet ligger i udkanten af Luxor, men det er nemt at komme til byen enten i hotellets gratis bus eller med taxa der holder lige udenfor indgangen.
