Hotel allows pet. We do not have pets yet the room they gave us smelled horrible like a wet sweating dog. We went to a store and purchased Fabreeze air freshner and sprayed the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel staff were extremely rude, ignoring me by talking amongst themselves about personal things, yet LOOKING at me the entire time. Once in the room, things seemed alright, until I got into bed, where I noticed several long red kinky hairs on the blanket and pillows. I have short cropped hair as I am in the Air Force. The toilet never stopped running […] the entire night, despite efforts of jiggling the handle and opening the tank and trying to adjust the bobber, which controls the water flow. In the morning, after my shower, I saw a couple spiders crossing the bathroom floor. The "continental breakfast" consisted of stale cold cereal or bruised fruit. I settled for a cup of coffee and left. I am in a position where I will be on business several times a year in that area as well as my son attending a local university. Should I require a hotel stay again, I will sleep in my car before giving my money to such a disgusting, rude, and shameful business as Red Roof Inn. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Another great getaway!"
Check in way so easy. I had room 221. It was very quiet yet just around the corner from the elevator. The cable tv in this hotel is outstanding. I think you have 900 channels. The A/C works really good. I didn't have breakfast but I heard it was just fine. I always ask for an extra blanket and that is never a problem. Great 2 night stay for a good price. […] This hotel is right off of Interstate 55. Lots of places to eat and shop close by. I'll be back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We just stopped mid trip to get some rest and didn't even look at any amenities or the area. The beds and pillows were fine and towels and bath were clean and aesthetically correct!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good stop on the way to see the Cardinals"
This was a very nice hotel right off the interstate and easy to get in and out of for our weekend of watching Cardinals baseball. It was also nice to have the swimming pool handy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean facility good for an overnight stay"
Clean facility with nice staff - very professional and helpful. Good for an overnight stay. Pictures on the website did not show this hotel. It's clean and looks like they've completed some updating recently but the pool is small and there is NO HOT TUB - even though the pictures a hot tub online. But there are Jucuzzi suites if you upgrade for an extra […] $100 dollars per night. Free breakfast was not impressive. Bagles, toast, cereal with 2 juices to choose from. No fruit, yogurt or waffles. But there is a Craker Barrel across the street - so that's probably why the breakfast is lacking. Location is good - just off the highway. Near SIUe. This hotel does allow pets. Which I liked - but my friend had allergies that got worse as the night went on. I would still recommend it for a quick overnight stay. "A Good Value But..."
This was our second stay, a year apart. The hotel chain seems to be in the process of renovating many of its motels. Nevertheless they are still economy priced as is this one. This motel was already renovated when we visited last year. Check-in this year was humorless but efficient. We were given a first floor room directly opposite the vending machines. […] My wife objected and we were promptly moved down the hall. The lobby was clean and offered coffee and popcorn. The room was clean and attractive. However, one of the reading lights did not function already. TV was an older CRT type but it and cable worked as well as most. The sink was separate from the shower/toilet which is more convenient for two people. The mattresses were quite hard and not terribly comfortable. Highway noise was minimal compared to many motels. Other than a nearby truck stop restaurant and "fast-food" chains there was not much in the way of a good meal within a mile of the motel. The "free" motel breakfast continues to be one of the chintziest of any we have come across. Apparently designed to be low-maintenance, it offered coffee, 2 fruit juices, milk, 3 dry cereals, bagels, white and raisin bread and a bowl of hard-boiled eggs. I suppose this is the way the continental free breakfast trend began but most have upgraded to scrambled eggs, sausage, waffle or pancake machines. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Well worth the price"
Very comfortable stay. Had very few hours to sleep but the bed and pillows were just like what I have at home. Best night of sleep I had in weeks. The young lady that took care of me saw how tired i was and VERY quickly got me checked in, showed me where my room was and wished me a good night. In the morning she was still there and even helped me get […] my breakfast before breakfast was even scheduled to start and got me out the door quick. I wish she worked at every hotel i stayed at! Room was nice and comfortable, but the breakfast was less than desirable there were a lot of truck drivers there so you had to contend with the large semi trucks. I myself would not recommend this place because I will not be staying there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Biggest savings.....biggest mistake!"
Never again!! There was supposed to be a hot tub and a pool indoors. That was the largest part of the reason we booked this hotel. There was a tiny little pool and NO hot tub. The man that checked me in at 1130pm talked on a personal phone call during the entire checkin process (to the point that I actually had to wait a moment for a pause in his conversation […] to ask him a question about our stay!!) Not happy with room size, setup, phone didnt work properly, etc. When I went to front desk I was given the runaround and was told 'oh sure I could put you in a room that would better suit you and your family...but its going to cost you double. Sorry'. To top all those things off, it was the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Not a happy camper here! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Just wlhat I was looking for."
The hotel was just fine. I stayed in room 214 which is on the 2nd floor and next to the elevator overlooking the lobby. It was a little noisy but not too bad. The room was clean. The tv had HBO. Plenty of towels. The shower had great water pressure. Microwave. Refrigerator.3 chairs. Very happy...Genuine Hotels.com guest review

TV didn't work upon arrival. Dirty was clothes laying on floor in shower. No shower curtain. Personal that came to room very sketchy and not in proper uniform which showed that they even work there. "simple sweet and cheap! ♥"
We came down from Chicago to attend a concert near St. Louis and needed a place to stay that wouldn't break the bank. This place was great! The room was clean and seemed recently updated, a flat screen tv, new bedding, cozy pillows. We were greeted immediately, we were early and one of our rooms wasn't ready but it wasn't a problem, they got it cleaned […] and ready and let us check in early! The pool was small but clean. The staff was so kind and nice! Both day and night! The breakfast is simple and small but it was filling and it we enjoyed it. You can tell they are updating by the materials up in the hallway by the pop machine BUT that was the only issue and it wasn't really even an issue it was out of the way and in no way a danger. The pictures here need to be updated cause the place is way nicer than we expected! It is well worth the money and only 20 min. from St. Louis. THANK YOU Red Roof Inn! Our stay was great and thanks for the tooth brush ;) someone always forgets something! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent hotel--HORRIBLE BEDS"
We were initially slated to stay 2 nights over New Year's Eve holiday. We have had good exoeriences at other Red Roof Inns so We do not have expensive tastes in hotels! :-) The building its's self wasn't bad, though the pool is small and shallow (maybe 4 ft?) but fine for a 6 year old. However, my opinion plummeted after our first night. The beds were […] so hard and so uncomfortable (felt like springs poking you, unavoidable depressions, etc) that all three of us were awake at 2:30 am. When a bed is uncomfortable for a 6 year old (who can usually sleep anywhere) it's bad! By 3:30 I nearly moved to the couch in the middle of the lobby!! When morning eventually came we packed up and I went to the front desk to request a refund for the following night as there was no WAY we could do that again, the gentleman didn't bat an eye that we were so miserable. Not a "Really? I'm so sorry!" Or "Can I find you a different room?" No apology, no attempt at making any adjustments--nothing. He just said that since we booked through hotels.com we'd have to go thru them for a refund. I was so tired and crabby that I had to just walk away so as not to make a scene. So if sleep is important to you, and you do not sleep well on concrete, I would highly advise looking elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quality for the price"
Had everything we needed for a one night stay. Pet friendly and no hassle whatsoever.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The shower you have to step way up to get in it, I about fell on my face getting out. The shower didn't drain at all, so while taking a shower you were standing in nasty water. The heat in the bathroom didn't work at all. The toliet after flushing it you had to take the back lid of to get it to stop running. Refrigerator didn't work. I think we got […] an hours sleep cause the people next door were very rude and I called down to the desk and told them and they said they would see what they could do about it but the never done nothing. Not sure what they were doing next door but sounded like they were tearing the place apart. Was told they had a hot tub, but got there and they didn't have one at all just a very small pool with a creepy guy sitting behind the window starring. needless to say I didn't go swimming. Not many eating places to eat at. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice, clean place"
Clean, big rooms, nice facility. Young staff was very friendly. The hotel is right next to the Interstate so book a room away from the road if the noise bothers you. I have stayed there twice and both times had the noise. Its not too bad. Overall the hotel is a good one.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very pleasant stay"
This hotel was very conveniently located right off the expressway. We were impressed with some of the "special" touches (popcorn machine and large bowl of apples in the concierge area) just gave and additional "classy" perspective to the hotel. We found the room to be very clean and in good repair, and spent a comfortable night. The free breakfast was […] a little on the "skimpy" side, but there was plenty of hot coffee. Just stayed the night but nice room and bathroom. We got in late and greeting by friendly staff person. Heater worked fine in room and breakfast very basic but filling. Would stay there again if in the area.Genuine Expedia guest review
While the hotel appeared relatively clean, there was a strong smell of smoke in our room. I found the staff very indifferent, neither friendly nor rude. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable, even for a hotel. There was quite a bit of noise from the interstate.Genuine Expedia guest review

Pleasant room & staff with inexpensive rate. You won't be dissapointedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very pleased. The room was clean & quiet, had a fridge, microwave, iron & board, hair dryer, coffee maker, light breakfast in the lobby area...couldn't have asked for more. Only one mishap - the elevator broke down on Saturday & still wasn't fixed when we left on Sunday. Things happen, but they A) should have repaired it quickly or B) had someone there […] to help bring down our luggage (from the 3rd floor). No excuse. The housekeeping staff was great though. They saw our frustration & jumped in to help. Also, they couldn't print out a receipt when we left ("didn't know how") because it was "booked through a 3rd party". They required a credit card to check in, so a verification that nothing additional had been charged should be available. Front desk personnel need to be trained for things like that. Otherwise, I couldn't have asked for more. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for a one-night stay"
When we arrived the desk staff was very friendly and advised us on things to do and the best places to park near the Arch. This is a convenient location for visiting Cahokia Mounds. the hotel overall was nice. the personnel were friendly and vary helpful. the only real downer was that the hot tub pictured in the ad was carpeted over and filled in. the picture on hotels.com showed a pool and a hot tub. that is why I booked the room. when we arrived we were informed that there was no hot tub. very disappointed. there was no milk for breakfast and it would have been nice to have waffles or donuts or something other than just toast and cold cereal. other than that the room was clean and comfy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"OK for a night"
I wanted a stopover along I-70 between St. Louis and Effingham, IL. The rate at the Red Roof in Troy, IL, looked good. The hotel is about 1 mile from I-70, so access was easy. Red Roofs are budget hotels, and for a single night all I needed was a room that was quiet, clean and secure. I arrived about 11 p.m. I was greeted at the desk by a disinterested […] clerk who quickly pulled up my reservation. Once in the room: No AC. Not even heat. The wall unit didn't work at all. I returned to the desk to see if I could get another room. For my inconvenience, I never once heard any regret or apology. It was no big deal to change rooms, but I should not have been given a key to the first room. I was not impressed by this clerk. Once in my new room, I prepared for bed. The room had a king bed, small table with two chairs, TV, microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was a little smaller (as was the tub), but all I needed was a shower in the morning. It appears the room had been vacuumed, but never tight along the edge against the wall. There was a strip of dust all around the room. There were signs that parts of the hotel are being remodeled. Perhaps the part where I stayed had already been remodeled; it appeared to be in good condition except for the dust ring. I didn't expect much from this Red Roof. I got what I expected. I could stay here again for a similar need, but there are lots of hotels in the Troy/Glen Carbon area. I'll likely stay somewhere else next time. (CS) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
