A Victory Inn & Suites - Ann Arbor

This is the worst "Hotel" Ive ever stayed in. The place is very run down, the staff have no idea what customer service means, I stayed 7 nights, 3 of them there was no hot water and very little apology was offered. It was loud at night, the pool was not open and the breakfast was dismal. The manager was extremely rude, we had been kept up all night […] by a party so asked to have a late check out as we were tired then he came bounding on our door and asked us what we were still doing here and caused a massive fuss over it and told us to be out in 5 minutes. My advice is pay the extra few dollars and stay at a nicer place. Read more

Upon arrival, noticed that swimming pool was empty and lined with a blue tarp...........probably not going swimming. Checked into room 229 to find that it smelled of cigarette/cigar smoke. Overall room cleanliness was poor. TV and wireless internet service worked fine. Had a good night's sleep and attempted to take a shower in the morning. Unfortunately, […] there was no hot water from the shower or sink. Took a cold shower as I had to go out for the day. Tried calling the front desk to ask/inform about the lack of hot water..........phone rang 25 times with no answer. Stopped by front desk to speak to someone about the water issue, but long line kept me from registering my complaint........didn't have time to wait. Upon arriving back at hotel that afternoon (about 4:30pm), I was able to finally talk to someone at the front desk- in person. He told me that the hot water problem had just been rectified about five minutes ago. Hot water worked fine thereafter. Pretty meager "Continental Breakfast". Overall, a great utilitarian place to crash. If you're fussy, probably not the place for you. Some sketchy-ness at night due to a wedding reception, but overall, the place seemed safe and we were happy. The room was large and relatively clean. Coffee to go in the AM and we were pretty happy for the price. It got the job done.

Had to wait while desk personnal was working with computer ..no other customers before I was greeted. Hallway HOT!!!!. Outside doors not secure so anyone can come in. Pool closed. the employees, nancy and ezra are pleasant. Nancy was extremely helpful and made our stay more pleasureable despite the condition of the property. Place needs a strong maintenance and upkeep manager to bring it up to standard. The smoke free signs did not help in the least especially in the hallways and the smoke permeated the rooms on a good days. […] My recommendation would be to remove all carpets and tile the corridor. It will be a sleaker and elegant look but it will also be cleaner. The musty smell will certainly dissappear. The place has potential. But as stated before it needs a strong maintenance in terms of leak prevention as well as other maintenance at the property. Landscaping needs to be looked at very, very seriously. The entrance is dismall and disencouraging to say the least. As a hospitality professional I know that all it takes is the will to implement the suggestions that I mentioned above. After making the reservation, I called the hotel to be sure I was given a ground floor room, close to parking. I got there, and the room stunk from stale cigar smoke. I was then moved to the furthest end of the hallway, very inconvenient, as I had told them I had bad knees and a bad back. Just getting into the room (145) was very difficult as you had […] to pull up on the handle to get the door to open. Once in the room, I'd used the bathroom. the metal cover on the front of the bathroom cabinet was broken and hanging out 2-3 inches at one end. As I walked by, I scraped my leg. The ice machine was out of order the entire week that I was there. It didn't appear they had any plans to fix it. On the face of the machine was a sign indicating one would have to go upstairs to get ice. The "Free" Continental breakfast was worth every penny. Bad coffee w/powder creamers; crumbly white bread for toast; some cereal, warm juice, some mini-muffins, milk for the cereal or coffee. There was no fresh fruit whatsoever. All in all, this hotel was dirty and gave me an overall sense that it was not well cared for. We were not impressed with this hotel at all. It was so bad that we almost drove in the middle of the night to go home. When we first arrived they gave us a room that did not even have sheets on the bed and had to ask for another room. The TV didn't work and the place seemed dirty. Arrived before 5pm, presented the clerk with my Hotels.com receipt, got my key & went up to my room. There was no "hot Tub". Went back to see the clerk who informed there were none available. He offered me another suite but I told him I'd come to his hotel because of the hot tub. After a few minutes, he said he had one in a room that was not being used […] acc't the heating system was out of order. He said a portable electric heater had been put to help heat up the suite. I took the room, once in the hot tub neither my partner nor I could get it to work but didn't get out to call the front desk acc't already in the tub. The tv in that room worked fine but the tv in the main room by the bed had a defective remote.. Surprised the suite didn't have anywhere to hang up coats or clothes for the next day. nor was there a clock in the room. Went down sunday morning at 10am for the breakfast buffet only to be informed it had ended at 930am - I think 930am on a sunday is a little early! I informed the day clerk upon checkout that we couldn't get the hot tub to come on, he said we must not have pushed the right button. The nite clerk did give me a card good for 30% on my NEXT visit but I don't think I'll be coming back. Read more
