I was excited to stay at Hotel Monaco because I had heard good reviews and like Kimpton's overall commitment to environment and community. Unfortunately, my stay was less than fitting of a 4-star hotel - issues included: - towels with frayed edges and holes and room was tired and dingy (a major renovation is apparently underway) - valet losing (yes, losing) my car for 3 of the 4 days I was at the hotel, requiring me to take taxis to meetings (parking was comped and cab fares reimbursed but I still paid for a rental car that was unused) - attitude of staff when I complained about their inability to deliver my car despite allowing 15-30 minutes advance notice to bring it around (response = "your parking is comped so what's the problem") - checking in my business partner because she was arriving in very late after a long flight and just wanted to grab her key and get to her room only to have her arrive and have to check in again (was later told by front desk that I couldn't check her in and when asked why they took my credit card and allowed me to go through the check-in process, the response was "well, we shouldn't have.") - had IT problems and called help desk for support - the person on the line was clueless ... I had to tell her how to access the email settings ... and told me she would "escalate" the problem because she didn't know how to help me. Two hours later, no return call. When I called help desk again the issue was resolved with 2 easy steps - was expecting an important FEDEX package for a meeting and called front desk to ask if they could bring it up to me as soon as it arrived - waited, waited, waited and in panic checked the Fedex tracking and it had been delivered almost an hour earlier and was just sitting at the front desk. The hotel is supposed to be a shing star in Denver but it appears they are operating off an old reputation.

From the moment I entered the Monaco, I could tell this was not my normal hotel stay. Everyone from the valet who first greeted me to the maid was personable and welcoming, their rooms were delightful, the atmosphere is surprising fun and yet very comfortable - like a home away from home. Food at the hotel was fabulous, special wine and appetizers each evening was amazingly like visiting a friend at their home and being treated with good wine and special appetizers. I will be coming back.

There was an excellent restaurant located in the hotel -- delicious food with nice wine selections. After an afternoon of travel, it is good to be able to have a relaxing meal. My only complaints were the decor of the room (a little too busy for my taste) and the comfort of the bed (sagged in spots).

This hotel really has it down & understands what service really means. Everyone was extremely friendly and seemed genuinely concerned with the quality of my stay. Even when I checked out at 4 am and had to get my car out of valet, everyone was smiling and asking if I needed directions. Also- the manager's reception with the free neck/back massages was a nice touch- as were the complementary hand treatments and tea at the spa! The decor is really cool-- kind of hearkens back to the 1950s but with a contemporary twist. My room was really large and extremely comfortable... Plus, it's right smack-dab in the middle of downtown, one block up from the 16th street mall. If I'm in Denver again, I'm definitely staying here!

It's a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location... walking distance to lots of shops, restaraunts, and pubs. The staff was awesome! Very friendly and helpful. On my final morning the internet went out, which was not good, but the manager on duty let me use her desk computer (which still had a functioning internet). And when I had used up the little pad in my room, she gave me a new legal pad which may not seem like a big deal financially, but my guess is that most other hotel managers would have pointed me to the gift shop to buy one for some ridiculous price. The onyl downside is parking which costs another close to thirty bucks per night which I was disappointed to learn AFTER I had arrived. Make sure you factor that into the price of your stay.
