"Pretty good stay"

"Nice/Convenient place for Visiting Tahoe AND Reno"
This place gives you a great value. My gf and I stayed here to play in Tahoe and Reno. It's super convenient as it's right between the two cities, it's literally right off the freeway, and there's a gas station right next to the hotel. This was our first time staying at Boomtown. I wish I would have read the reviews before booking. Starting at the front desk I went there twice to ask questions and also checking in was not friendly at all. No one smile, no one asked if we had any question....been in Customer Service for over 30 years this was not a good start. We walked down the hallway […] and I could smell smoke in one of the rooms. Hallway needs to be cleaned. Once we went to bed the mattress was terrible....I did not sleep at all. My daughter got up in the morning and took a shower she said it was like the water was pins in needles and there was no way to turn the nozzle. Not happy with the hotel and we got an upgrade because we heard the other tower was worse than this one. Went to the restaurant to celebrate my husbands birthday and we choose Lobster Buffett...........it was terrible food was on heating tables too long and for the price of $34 each the lobster was dry! The bed was the worst we've ever slept in. Had the worst tbone steak at the Bistro 2100. I guess what do you want for a $9.99 special. We booked a 3 night stay well over 1 month ago only to arrive and be told that they didn't have the same room available for all 3 nights. A manager was called and did some rearranging and supposedly upgraded our room from a standard to a deluxe for the inconvenience. Didn't win any money in casino, but the arcade was a great value, safe and a lot of fun for three boys ages 4, 7 and 8. Make sure that you request a "non-smoking" room during checkout - otherwise you will be placed on the smoking floor where the smell will permanently set into your clothing. "DON'T GO THERE!!!"
We canceled our second night...That would be enough said, but we would like to say more. We were given erroneous instructions for how to reach our room. We honestly had to walk a football field to get to our non smoking room. The room had NOT been vacuumed and there were dried up drool marks on the bathroom wall and on the back of the bathroom door. […] Bed seemed changed towels smelled clean. The cigarette smoke wafted into our room from other rooms and my husband got a headache from inhaling it during our night's stay. I spent an hour and a half trying to get the internet to work. They use some Las Vegas company for this called Cox communications and when I wasn't able to just enter a password like in other hotels, I spent all this time trying to have them help me. When they couldn't help me, they told me that a techy from the hotel would come right up and help me. NOT! You see techy was off so desk called me to tell me it would be morning 8 am before they would be there. Of course, by 6 am we were out of there. CANCELLED our second night! Oh and the other thing, they advertise fasley what the price will be. We ate at the hotel restaurant because that is the only thing in the middle of the desert. "Not quite together"
Trouble started when we arrived about 20 minutes before check-in. We were told our room would be ready in about 30 minutes. Came back in 30, and were told the room was still not ready (making our check in time later than posted). Came back in another hour, and after having the desk clerk trying to find us another room (our's was STILL not ready), we […] were assigned a room. Valet helped bring our things upstairs on a cart after an additional 20 minute wait for him. Got to the room, and it was ALREADY occupied!!! We had to go all the way back down to the front desk, and after another 20 minutes the FINALLY found us a room. We had booked nearly a month in advance, and didn't get to check in until nearly 6:00 in the evening. Totally inexcuseable, no apologies were offered, nothing, they didn't really seem to even care about it. Worst check-in experience we have ever had. I would be hard pressed to stay here again. A total time of frustration. We never had washcloths or soap. We were told that the hotel had run out of them. What a lame excuse. Buy more!!!No coffee in the room.
