The Queen Anne Hotel - New Orleans

The hotel is a charming mansion completely and tastefully updated. The location is a long ways from the French Quarter, but the streetcar is only a block away and the surrounding neighborhood is pleasant. The Garden District is in easy walking distance. The staff is pleasant and efficient. The only down side to the service is that the lobby is a block […] away in another building. The wi-fi quit the second night but not a big deal. The breakfast was the major disappointment. The attendant was very nice and did her best but hotel management did not give her much to work with. The breakfast is listed as continental so we did not expect anything elaborate, but we did expect quality -- good coffee (it's New Orleans!) and good rolls (it's New Orleans!). What we got was mediocre and I am being generous. Note that this opinion is based on one morning -- the next morning we skipped out for a good restaurant. Other than breakfast -- very good place and recommended to all who are less focused on breakfast than am I. Read more

Loved the hotel, but breakfast was skimpy, surprised we did not know we had to check in a block away, made it difficult with bags across some rough streets. Good food nearby, a short walk into the cool parts of the Garden District. Would stay there again.

It was okay. The surrounding patrons - room 253 - were so noisy Friday night (no Saturday morning) that we literally could not sleep. Smaller things like very inconvenient electrical outlet and mirror locations were also a problem. Continental breakfast was very mundane - boring. Location is great.

Very secure for anyone who is concerned, two locked gates and locked exterior doors, only open with room key. Very quiet, easy walk to nice eateries, breakfast was cold food except for freshly made waffles. Street car tracts were being repairs, so we walked everywhere..not bad at all. I had a very nice three nights at the Queen Anne while in New Orleans on business. I got tired of paying $35 a night to park at a hotel in the French Quarter. Plenty of free parking around the Queen Anne. The first night I was in a small room on the first floor. It was a nice old restored home but was not furnished for a business traveler. The internet service was slow and hard to connect to. There was no desk or comfortable chair available in the room. The Queen Anne is best suited for the vacationer and not the business traveler.

This hotel is a lovely restored historic old home and the rooms are nice and clean. I was travelling for business purposes and it's not as ideal a location for that as I had to take cabs to the convention center, etc. However, if you have your own transportation or you are a couple on vacation, it is extremely close to the cable car system and St. Charles […] Street where there are dozens of fun restaurants and things to see and do. I was assigned a first floor room first as I checked in early but asked to be moved because the room was a bit too small for doing any work. They moved me upstairs without any complaint and I got a room that was perfect for my business needs. The rooms on the second floor are larger and the desk and internet were super for doing work. Internet was free, fast, and reliable. Upstairs rooms even have a little kitchenette area so I was able to store some leftovers in the fridge and make popcorn late at night which is a nice treat while traveling. Room was beautifully decorated. It's not a true Bed & Breakfast, but the Queen Anne has the ambiance of that along with the conveniences of a modern hotel. They literally had everything in the room you could need from ironing board, a safe, microwave, hair dryer, coffee maker etc. Staff was helpful whenever I called or walked there to seek their assistance. Things I didn't like are that you have to check in at a location down the street which isn't ideal if arriving alone and late at night. I didn’t have that information before I arrived so after being dropped off by a cab I had to walk and hunt around for where I was supposed to check in … a slight flaw, I felt. Neighborhood is a bit mixed with lovely restored homes and vacant ones. I didn't feel particularly safe walking around alone at night. If you were with someone, you probably would feel safe.
