Unless you need a multi-bedroom suite, a ballroom, a swimming pool or insist on a known chain brand you probably cannot do better than La Mansion. Our ten-day stay was near perfect. Staff in this hotel are friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and they anticipated most of our needs and wishes. For example, we brought a special tea with us and […] after the first day it was prepared morning and evening without our asking. We asked them to acquire soy milk and they did so without hesitation, never forgetting to serve it with breakfast coffee. There are a few rooms that don't have much exterior light or view, and you'll want to avoid those. That's easy to do because most of the rooms that look out on one of the two lovely gardens. Unlike many non-chain Mexican hotels, they have real king size beds. Plaza del Sol, a major shopping center is an easy walk, as are a range of restaurants. I don't see how the room or the facility could have been cleaner. The hotel does not seek to gouge its guests with ridiculous telephone rates. You can call to the US or Canada for less than your US-based cell phone carrier will charge you. With our rate breakfast was included, but it and other restaurant prices are quite reasonable. We loved our stay in Guadalajara, and we'll stay at La Mansion again when we return! Read more

Two couples of us from Puget Sound visited the Guadlahara region for 5 days in March 2011. Each year we go to our time shares in Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, but we decided to try flying with a stop for 5 days in Guadalahara since our airline, Alaska Airlines, now has regular Guadalajara service, and we thought it would be fun to go from there to our […] regular pacific resort destinations by bus. Our stay at Mansion del Sol was wonderful. Our connecting flight into Guadalajara from Seattle was one hour late leaving Los Angeles and we landed at 7 am. When we arrived at the hotel they invited us to have the buffet breakfast complimentary even though we were not supposed to check in to our room much later. That did wonders to relaxing us from the long overnight flight. Receptionist and waiters were great. Every morning we had breakfast in the garden. The staff gave directions to the historical city center where we took hop on hop off bus tours to Tlaquepaque and Tonola. We also took a day trip tour to Tequila. One of our favorite dinners was at the hotel. (We would skip planning an evening at Mariachi Square next time, except during the Mariachi festival. No one was there.) Our experience in Guadalahara has made us plan to return to inland Mexico colonial cities. We now realize we can easily travel by delux bus coach from Guadlajara to Aguas Caliente, Guanajuato and even to Mexico City from Guadalajara. We will stay at Mansion del Sol when we return.
