Masters Inn - Charleston - Mount Pleasant

Bittersweet that we stayed in this hotel on the last night of service. It is being torn down. We stayed in it when it was brand new. Goodbye.

This is a great location but an old hotel, and the rooms reflect that. Smokefree, but smells of old smoke and other odors. Room itself was okay seemed to have been updated, although the pillows were all different and lumpy. Bathroom left something to be desired - tub needs to be replaced. It was just OK. Nothing more. Very conveniently located, but old, and in need of repair. The Non-smoking smelled of smoke, and I think they could spring for new shower curtains. But if you book early the price is low.

This hotel was perfectly adequate for my husband and I to spend one night but he had some difficulty sleeping. The occupants of the room upstairs sounded like they were playing basketball. This ended by 11 so ok but then the arguing started. We had a wedding on Patriot's Point and it was close enough. I would call it more of a motel as the doors led to outside. The rooms were not very clean and the towels were paper thin.

location is good, safe with restaurants very close. no breakfast. bed is not super clean, property is very old, no clothes hangers in the room, refrigerator smelled and was really disgusting. shower was alright. ok if you get it cheap and just need a place to sleep during the night.

It was horrible. We were down for Accepted Students Day at College of Charleston. The fridge ticked so loudly we had to unplug it. It drove you crazy. Told the maintaince man who said.. oh well, deal with it... so we couldn't bring food in and had to go out. Only towels for 1 person though they got us more the second day after I asked. Room very old. […] Loud heater, old furnishings, bathroom clean but many stains. No take out available I guess, nothing in the room to indicate it. Weird roads around there trying to find restaurants close by. One we went to was awful. Ate in Charleston after that. Overall a horrible experience. Would have called to try to change hotels but my daughter needed to focus on the College. Just awful. Read more

Had to stay here in a jam. Would never go back. But if you need a cheap place to stay in Charleston, its got 4 walls, a roof, and a bed. You may luck out and even get a clean bed. I would recommend bringing personal protection.

I really was not impressed. The bathroom was a little dirty, so was the floor. There were not enough towels for one person, the bed was so low and you had smoking rooms right next to non smoking rooms so everytime i went back to my room, smoke would go right into my face. Overall, it was not good to stay, but the location where it's at is nice...

We were uncertain about staying here, but very pleasantly surprised when we saw our room! The girl at the front desk was friendly and upgraded us to a non-smoking king free of charge. Tons of channels on the television, working a/c, fridge/freezer combo, microwave, very spacious bathroom AND located less than a mile from Mt. Pleasant pier (excellent […] location to walk the dogs with easy access to the bridge for a jog). Coffee in the lobby was fresh. We weren't expecting much, considering the low price, so we did get what we paid for. The hotel is obviously old and in need of significant cosmetic renovation, but the owners do seem to be making a concerted effort in some regards. The room was clean and generously sized, though the mirrors were flaking and the bathtub painted (I'm assuming to cover […] stains). The beds were comfortable and clean, though one of our sheets had a cigarette burn through it. The fridge was clean and worked great, though the microwave sounded like a jet engine. Safety-wise, it needs more improvement. The low price does result in some questionable visitors who had a lovely yelling match outside our door one night. We would have felt far more comfortable if there had been a chain on the door, rather than just the card-activated deadbolt. Also, the peephole didn't work (it seemed to have been covered over or damaged), though there was a large window next to the door. The lack of both chain lock and functioning peep hole poses a significant liability risk to the hotel. I certainly would not recommend this to a person traveling alone because of potential safety risks. Ultimately, we got what we paid for; don't expect much, but if you're looking for cheap but clean, this is it. Read more

I stayed here for a couple of nights while in the Charleston area. It is within 5 minutes of downtown Charleston, just over the Ravenel bridge in Mount Pleasant. Much less expensive than hotels just over the bridge. Did not use amenities, with the exception of the WIFI, which was above average.

I had never stayed at a Masters Inn before this, mainly because most hotel stays have been with family while traveling and my parents usually stay at better places. The place is older and could be renovated if they wanted to compete with the hotels next door, but from what I could tell they have kept it up pretty well.
