Enjoyed the all you can eat breakfast available in the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was for single people..I'm a family of 3 who slept on individual beds. Laundry room wasn't working right. Other than that everything else was fair.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice and friendly place to stay"
Everything went smoothly from booking to checking in. Front desk was very friendly and down to earth. We enjoyed our stay!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Over all our stay was good. Great location close to everything. The rooms wasn't a 5 star hotel but it was good enough for our stay. I would stay here again for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was closer to Kona downtown than our last hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very goodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel has seen better days. Needs serious updating. No exhaust fans in bathroom. Old tv. Air conditioner is very loud but traffic was louder so had to use ac for air flow. The staff were very friendly though. Would likely not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent hotel for the location and price"
This a no frills but decent hotel in Waikiki for the location and price. The beach and downtown Waikiki are all within walking distance. The rooms are a nice size, but I thought that the A/C was a bit undersized for the room. In room internet costs extra.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price decent location"
The Decor is new. They were still painting a few of the floors. Strong paint smell. There he clean. The hotel staff was excellent. Extremely nice people. Very helpful. I was pleased with the service and helpful bus info. Great location near bus stop. Short walk to beach. Short walk to shopping. It's easy to catch a bus.Genuine Expedia guest review
Clean hotel and great serviceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooms are dirty and outdated."
Our room didn't look anything like what they show on the Internet. It was so dirty and smelled like smoke so we asked for a different room. Although the staff accommodated us, the new room wasn't much better.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Surpassed Our Expectations"
After reading several reviews, I prepared for the worst. However, upon our arrival to Waikiki Gateway, I was pleasantly surprised to find that our room was large, clean, and better than what I expected. We were in a corner room on the 6th floor. We had two king sized beds and two balconies. There was a mini fridge, a coffee maker, closet space, and […] a safe. Staff was friendly. The convenience of the location was a plus. We weren't too far from Waikiki beach and the Ala Moana Center, which took about 15 minutes to each location by walking. Bus stops are near. Also, the Gateway has its very own ABC store. We didn't use the pool so I can't say much about that. Overall, we had a great experience at Waikiki Gateway. It was our home away from home for a while. I would definitely recommend staying here to friends and family. Enjoy!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Best Budget Deal"
It is well located and a decent hotel. Has lots of places within walking distance. Wish I'd noticed the little informational saying the pool would be closed for my stay and that internet costs $10 per day!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very bad hotel, bad location, good staff."
Cockroaches in the rooms, unpleasant odor, lots of noise from the streets, long walk to Waikiki beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Can't beat the location"
We stayed overnight twice in the last month, going to and coming from Australia. It's much nicer to stay in Waikiki than near the airport, although the cab fare is high and the traffic always bad. We were very pleased with the Gateway -- would have stayed longer if we could.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great price for waikiki"
Decent room. Lots of movies to order. I would stay again and choose this hotel over ambassador and maile. $100 security deposit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Mis-rated: should be 2.5*"
If this were a 2.5* I would have no complaints. However, the air conditioner didn't work well (we were sweating until about 2AM), the paint around the shower was very chipped, they had the smallest TV I've seen in years of frequent traveling (also not a flatscreen, which was weird). Just overall not up to 3* standards.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I read the reviews and almost didn't stay there. I'm glad I did. Friendly staff. Good security. Great room first two nights. I needed to stay one extra night and my room wasn't as nice. This could be why the reviews vary.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"small and quiet"
stayed 6 nights over thanksgiving weekend. very little road noise. was on the 6th of 16 floors. hotel is situated at the junction of 2 main streets in waikiki. window air conditioners are located close to the floor so be prepared to kneel to read the labels if the remote doesn't work. front desk staff was very pleasant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"This hotel locates at a very noisy location."
I was very disappointed to do the prepaid booking with this hotel. This hotel locates at the busy and noisy traffic location where local buses/tour buses stopped to pick up passengers all night/day long. In addition, there are also trucks that drive by the streets...It was so noisy at night that me and my friends couldn't sleep at all at night. The […] bathroom is small and way outdated. The hotel itself is quite old. Most of the front desk staffs are not friendly and polite. I wonder why this hotel is rated at 3 stars, it should be only 2 stars. I will never wanted to stay at this hotel again even though if their rate is cheapest. When you're on a vacation, you want to be able to have a good night sleep, unfortunately you won't be able to sleep well at night if you stay at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Gateway to everything."
Hotel is close to everything you need. ABC store right in front. Very convenient. The room is clean. But one of my four rooms has this sewage odor in the bath room. The other rooms are fine. Great view of Waikiki. The surrounding front streets might be a little too congested because it's located in between Kalakaua and Kuhio which are the two main streets […] in Waikiki. Other than that, everything else is great. Friendly staff and friendly guests. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old and uncomfortable"
Right when we got off the elevator the whole hall way and room was humid and stale. The bedding was new, and they looked nice, but the mattresses were old and the room had two full beds when i reserved one king. The bathrooms were discusting and small. Popcorn ceilings, rusted small tub, AC unit was in the window and sounded like a small generator running […] in the room. We also had a loud whistle coming from the bathroom pipes that there was nothing we could do about. I didnt expect fancy, but i did expect decent based on the pictures. "The magic of Gateway hotel"
This was my second time staying at Gateway hotel, At first I was staying on the 4th floor, room 415, had a low view of khuhio ave, I felt it was too noisy for my taste, then i choose to upgrade my room, for 20 more dollars per night, the fourteen floor, room 1410, was amazing, quiet, breath taking view, decent size, balcony, good bathroom. I felt as […] thought my vacations just begin the right way, then i has super happy!!! the staff was super nice, attentive and respectful. THANK YOU GATEWAY HOTEL.. "Excellent value for a place to spend the night!!"
Who comes to Hawaii to enjoy sitting around their hotel facilities?? This hotel is an excellent value, as it is generally under $100/nt, and provides all of the basic amenities that we have come to expect (basic cable, take-out menus, coffee maker, blow dryer), and the ABC Store adjacent to the lobby is a great help!! They were very flexible with me, […] and even upgraded me despite not having a credit card to hold a deposit. One downside is that there is only one ice machine in the hotel, but with three elevators it is quick and easy to access. I would definitely recommend this as my number 1 choice in Honolulu, and I have never stayed anywhere else on the island. Oh, and by the way, I am a Hawaii resident with a background in housekeeping, and hospitality. Much ALOHA from Kauai!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"One of the best hotels I have been"
After a really long flight/layovers I had been up for over 24hrs I got to the hotel about midnight. The person at the front desk(Heidi) was very freindly and helpful. I was not sure what to expect since some of the reviews were not very good. I stayed on the 15th floor, had a great view of the city. I had the breakfast buffet which was not bad, good […] way to start the day. I thought the location was perfect a short walk to everything that I wanted, the beach maybe a 5 minute walk, a couple great places to eat near by Cheeseburger Wakiki. The staff was very helpful I asked to get a cab, to take me to Diamonod Head. Not sure of her name but she was very helpful also. The only negative and I don't consider it a big deal is you can hear the traffic. Like I mentioned not a big deal I can deal with that, very comfy beds. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nothing like the pictures"
The lobby looked great, had a modern look to it. Once you reach the elevator and get to your floor, it looks like ghetto apartment complex. Decorated poorly the best part of the room was the little orange chair in the balcony. The door to the balcony whistled and rattled when closed. The hotel itself had a old nasty smell to it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was wonderful! The staff were very friendly and helpful! We were near shopping areas, restaurants, bus stops, and not far from the beach! The bathrooms could use a little updating but we were barely in our room so it didn't bother us! Would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends!Genuine Expedia guest review
"picture deceiving, wifi @ 0 speed"
all the pix you see online only apply to penthouse units. not your actual rooms. I booked the room cause they offer free wifi, and I have printed the ad from expedia, but at check in they denying it, and take them 15min. to tell me it was expedia's mistake also showed me their own ad. So what, the wifi do not cost them extra, as part of customer service […] they should just give me the password and call expedia to correct its ad. Do not need to have customer to wait. At the end they gave me the pw, and wifi did not work until the day b4 I check out ( 4night stay) and it has little to zero speed. So do not pay for wifi at this hotel, you can go to McD near by for free wifi. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not good, but not bad"
The pros: the hotel lobby, the service, convenience of shops and recreation. The cons: the stench in the building, danger of loading/unloading, beds were uncomfortableGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value for money"
It's a great deal for the location of the Hotel. Paying less than $90 per night was def a fabulous stay. We had a great massive balcony on the 16th floor .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"4 the dollar... Awesome!"
First time there. Have stayed at many of the Waikiki budget hotels. This ones the best. From the great valet guys, to Joshua at the counter to Big Tony in security. I had a great time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location - Fantastic!!"
Upon my arrival at the hotel, I was told that I didn't have a reservation, but the hotel manager asked me to email him my confirmation email from Hotels.com which I did and they took us to our room. The room in the picture did NOT NOT NOT look like the one in the picture, aside from the runners on the bed. The bed sank in the middle and was difficult […] to get out of and the air conditioner above our room dripped down onto our balcony, thus carving out two distinct water channels on our balcony. I cannot complain about the hotel staff, as they were very nice and friendly and the hotel itself was clean, VERY clean, but it was just old. The bathtub didn't drain very well and the bathroom lacked a ceiling vent to suck out the steam from the shower. Overall, if I had to, I would stay there in a pinch, but it will not be a destination hotel for me in the future. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Even though our room was on the 12th floor it was very noisy and hard to sleep with all the cars, buses and shuttles on the street. The air conditioning unit was so loud that we could not sleep with it on either. Even though it is in a good location in Waikiki, we would not stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Simple hotel couple blocks from the beach"
We didn't experience our honeymoon with a view. Room small and totally different from pictures... Had a cockroach 2.5 inches in bathroom that took them more then 1hr to take it away and had to call them twice about that! Didn't like my stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Everything you need"
The staff were the best part - in my 2 nights stay I came across about 6 different staff who helped me out in every way and went the extra mile (I am quite demanding sometimes). It would have been extra nice if the rooms had fans. But it has everything one needs in 1 room. The shower taps were weird - if they do renovations they need to change it!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pros: - Staff is very friendly and helpful - Close to the beach - Nice lobby Cons: - Old and dirty rooms. I felt itchy staying there. The first room we stayed in had some kind of bug/roach, the toilet wouldn't flush, and our balcony was flooded with water because of the air conditioner unit from the room above us. So they moved us to another room, […] which was a little better, but the light in the bathroom had problems and they had to send someone to keep fixing it. The room smelled like urine when you walked in so we had to keep the balcony door open. However, we went up to the penthouse area, and it looked completely different from the regular floors. The hallways were way more modernized and upgraded. I wish we were able to check out the rooms. My suggestion is they upgrade the entire hotel. Everything is out dated and old.
