My husband and I stayed at the Laurel Inn last night. We've stayed at many hotels in San Francisco, but this was our first time here. We chose it after finding a good price on Hotels.com, and we wanted to hang out away from downtown, so the location was more quiet. We found the hotel to be very quiet and extremely comfortable. My husband and I both thought the bed was very comfy, and the room was definately like a studio apartment, as it is advertised. We heard a few of the night noises of San Francisco, such as an occasional cable car and some traffic below, but it wasn't at all annoying, and I actually like those things, since we live in a more suburban area. We were concerned about pets, as this is a pet-friendly hotel. But although we did see a few dogs staying there, we never heard any barking or other animal annoyances. The continental breakfast was nice, more than just donuts and breakfast rolls, but neither was it a full breakfast. We walked across the street to Ella's, had a great full breakfast there (be prepared to wait - it's very popular). The hotel offers underground parking that is self-serve and at a far less cost than most other SF hotels where we've stayed. The hotel, including our room, was clean, neat, comfortable, and private. We will definately return to the Laurel Inn.

There wasn't a refrigerator, microwave, or a coffee pot in the room. For an additional cost and upgrade would provide those amenities but none were available. We requested "early bird" room service but when we returned at 2:30 pm our room still hadn't been cleaned. One morning they ran out of bagles by 8:00 am and made no effort to obtain additional bagles for their free breakfast.

We were upgraded to a room with kitchen facilities and city view, so were very pleased. The staff at the front desk went out of their way to help us plan our day. I would definitely go back.
