Holiday Inn Downtown Shanghai - Shanghai

It is a twin towered holiday inn. I was checking in with wrong building and had to walk through the under ground packing to the next building. When i booked this hotel, it did not say which tower i should check in. I booked the one king bed but when i checked in they said no king bed available and put me in the 2 queen beds room.

This hotel was ready for international cliental at moderate prices. The desk staff was multi-lingual. The decor, bedding, and bathrooms were all above average. This hotel has a terrible bug problem. I came into the room several times and found big, very big cockroaches. It is a terrible problem. It is terrible problem. They have to solve this problem. Otherwise, it is a totally perfect hotel.

The rooms were too small. I had asked for a room that could fit 3 people. Ideally 2 queens. I was given very small beds and had to squeeze in. We had no space to walk around. To top it, they send me an extra bed and wonder why I said no to it (where the hell was I suppose to fit it?). They later moved me to an "upgraded room" which was smaller than […] the original. When I tried to ask what this was about needless to say nobody understood english. All i got was "Ok,OK" and nodding heads. I was tired and just gave up If Holiday Inn wants to maintain their brand quality, they should hire service oriented people who understand english. My mother had by mistake used up a paid water bottle. I went to pay for it on check out and after an initial conversation about paying for a bottle. The crew grouped and came back to convince me that I had mysteriously used 2 bottles. I denied and they instantly settled at one. Looks like my bargaining didn't stop on the streets of Shanghai. This hotel is literally next to the Shanghai Train station and very easy to locate. The "H" for holiday is prominently displayed so we could find the hotel even at night.

This hotel was very convenient and within walking distance to the Shanghai Railway Station. The staff was super friendly and helpful... they were able to help with all questions we had about upcoming travel and even helped arrange some it. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Smoking in hotels is rampant in china, but this hotel was bad. Smoke from neighboring rooms filled my room...set off an alarm somewhere and hotel staff never attended to it...also had booked two rooms and Holiday Inn Shanghai put me in one hotel and my colleague in the other one (there are two Holiday Inns about a block apart - weird). The hotel claims to have recently renovated but the state of the hotel room begs to differ. It's not in the best of shape. Shanghai railway station is opposite of the hotel but most highspeed trains now operate in Hongqiao station in the west instead. The hotel is 5 min from the metro station and it in turn is 3-4 stations from Nanjing Pedestrian Street […] and the Bund. Great location near to shopping area & The Bund. We stayed in the annex part of the hotel, carpets not great in corridor but rooms very clean. Hotel bar very expensive, would recommend shop around the corner for drinks etc. Would definitely stay here again and recomment to others.

Not bad for the price paid. A bit of walk to The Bund however only a short taxi ride if you're not fit. Area was good as some shopping close by and right behind the Shanghai Railway Station.

We first stayed at the Swissotel in Beijing before traveling to Shanghai and Holiday Inn-Downtown. We have been just disappointed after the excellent experience of Swissotel in Beijing. The room we got was in such a bad condition that I asked for a better room even at more costs. The hotel personnel was however friendly and helpful and we finally got […] a better room. Godt hotel til prisen, tæt på Shanghai Banegård. Denne placering gør det nemt at besøge nærliggende byer som Suzhou og Hangzhou med tog. Metroen er også tæt på hotellet. Pæne og rene værelser, bl.a. med hovedpuder af varierende fasthed. Mindre, men fint fitness-rum med løbebånd og vægttræningsudstyr. 上海には3つの駅（上海、上海南、上海虹橋）がありますが、そのうち上海駅のすぐ前にあるホテルで、利便性は抜群でした。日中は日本語で対応してくれるスタッフがおり、英語も通じましたので意思疎通に問題はしょうじませんでした。
