After reading dozens of reviews prior to our trip to the big smoke, I was wondering if there was a hotel out there that didn't have something wrong with it. So it was with a little trepidation that we finally booked (5hours before arriving). One review said it was a hike to the nearest tube- its not 15 mins top. OK its not the most centrally located but it IS accesible, and walkable to the zoo!Spacious room (London standards) very clean, decent breakfast - full english £10 - there is a cafe round the corner for £5. lashings of hot water , super shower ,comfy bed - What more could you ask for.

Reviewed by D of Leeds on Jul 20, 2009
The hotel is right opposite the training pitch of Lords cricket ground. My room upgraded from single to double for free, had a good aspect , was a decent size and clean. The hotel looks like late sixties/ early seventies from the outside and a little bleak. Once inside it's fine although some of the common parts need refurbishment. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

We had booked this hotel as alate deal, and deliberately chose it so it was close to Marylebone and offered concierge service to leave our luggage. The hotel was very well placed for Regent's Park. When we arrived at 1:00 our rooms were ready. My husband is a big cricket fan and our room overlooked Lords - great position. The rooms were really clean and comfortable. Although we had not had breakfast included, we opted for it as overall there was so much choice and the quallity was excellent, and if you add up buying the individual items such as coffee, juices, etc, you soon reach the same kind of price. We also had the summer buffet one evening which was very good value indeed. Overall, great hotel, very helpful and courteous staff, great location - a definite for a future visit

Hotel was very nice. Not much to look at from the outside, but once you get in any reservations about the condition disappear. Room was well presented and comfortable, although if you a carrying a few extra pounds you will struggle in the bathroom. Location is the main downfall here, at least from a public transport point of view. You are a 10min walk from St John's Wood and 15min walk from Baker Street. Therefore, if you are planning on doing a lot of travelling around London using the underground it will not be as easy from here as with the more centrally located hotels. However, the location is nice. St John's Wood has some great shops and cafés. Plus, Regent's Park is just over the road and is a lovely place to spend at least half a day. One good thing on offer at the hotel is the carvery provided Friday and Saturday evening plus Sunday lunchtime. £18.50pp for a 3 course buffet plus tea/coffee. It actually represents very good value based on London prices (considering they normally charge £7.50 for a tuna mayo sandwich at the hotel) and the food was excellent.

First the only good part - I had gone to watch the cricket world cup matches in London. This hotel is right opposite Lords ground which is awesome. The Bads - Totally unprofessional service. The a/c in our room on the 4th floor was not working. The manager was not willing to accept that the a/c was not working. He came up and then agreed. He gave us a new room whose a/c wasn't working as well. They were very non apologetic about it. Their solutions ranged from opening the window to giving us a fan. Ridiculous.

I booked the hotel last minute for a weekend stay and the rate was terrific. The room was clean and as-advertised. The Jubilee Line is often closed on the weekends so expect a 10 - 15 min walk to Baker St. Station (or hop on a bus). No complaints.

The hotel is for a person who needs minimal comfort when traveling. Upon entry to my room I was greeting with a very narrow and steep staircase which made it extremely difficult to get into with my luggage. The rooms are antiquated and the internet did not work when I was there. Upon arrival the TV was not working which they did send someone immediately to fix. Overall the experience was less than pleasant.

A good place to stay in London outside the congestion charge zone and overlooking Lord's cricket ground. My room actually had a view over the pitch! Some of the rooms are currently under refurbishment, but my room had recently been done and was spotless. The only gripe, and I am struggling here, was that the air con system in the hotel was not running, so everyone got the same heat. As it was a cold day this wasn't an issue, but apparently it will all be working by the summer when it will be important. The hotel resaurant was reasonably priced, and the hotel was offering a discount on breakfast (£10 for all you could eat). The bar has friendly staff and the beer (while pricey compared to my native Liverpool) were less than some pubs nearby. Staff very attentive and friendly which goes a long way in London which can often be impersonal to the business traveller.

I found this hotel very good indeed for its kind. Clearly these hotels are primarily for the business traveller and therefore can appear impersonal but this hotel excelled in the quality of its bedrooms, friendly service and rates. Apart from not being over impressed by ythe carvery because it had clearly stood around for too long, the food was good and the service courteous. I would definitely stay there again. I am a single traveller who requests a double room.

The hotel is average but clean and inexpensive. If you do not need to spend much time in the hotel room then this is the place to stay. The only problem is that half of the rooms have a staircase inside of the hotel room which creates problems in hauling your luggage upstairs.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Danubius Hotel in London this year and I was not disappointed. We had booked a twin room but due to arriving late only a double room was available. The staff were most apologetic and organised a second bed in the allocated room and threw in breakfast next morning for free. We were then due to change to a twin room the next morning but we decided to stay put. The hotel is just about 1/4 mile from St. Johns Wood tube station and slightly further from Baker Street. If you are wheeling a trolley case its best to use the St. Johns station. The staff are extremely courteous and friendly and really go out of their way to assist guests. The breakfasts incidentally would put a five star hotel to shame, bar meals are good value and if you fancy some hungarian cuisine Minsky's Restaurant is excellant. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
