The Fairmont Royal York's classic architectural lines stand out among the impressive buildings that rise along the Toronto skyline. This grand railroad-era hotel is located across from Union Station and two blocks from the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the Air Canada Centre. Benihana Japanese Steakhouse prepares meals on hibachi-style grills tableside, whereas Piper's Bar and Eatz provides informal dining and a vast range of beer choices. The Fairmont Royal York includes a well-equipped health club, staffed from early morning to late evening, and accessible 24 hours by key card. Fitness equipment–many with personal built-in LCD TVs–include treadmills, elliptical trainers, a stair machine, a stationary bike, a strength-training machine, free weights, and stability balls.

Nice place to stay for the discounted price, pictures of room and pool are deceiving. Would have been very disapointed if I had paid regular price. For a 100 year old place it feels clean. Bed was excellent. Lobby is nice and staff are friendly.

My stay at the hotel was great, the people were really nice, located perfectly for my needs, close to the train station and one block away from the convention center, with some nice restaurants in the middle. Great stay, will use this hotel agian in the future!

Nice hotel. However, there must be ongoing road work on Front Street where you access the valet parking of the hotel. Not sure how long this will last but delayed our arrival time as proper direction was not given to pull up to the rear gate...
Very disappointed that they would put me in a construction zone and next to the elevator bank which was very noisy!

After making reservation 2 months in advance, we had to wait over 2.5 hours in the lobby with our 2 grandchildren. contacted the cleck several times to request another room as the children were getting tired. After repeat attempt to hurry the room to no avail. This is not accecptable for a Fairmont, they also mention that by using Hotel.com this did […] not garantie what time we would have our room. I booked this room for my son's 19th birthday. He was attending a couple of events in downtown Toronto. He was very excited about the beauty of the hotel and his room. He was treated with great respect even though he was only 19 which was something I was fearful of. As mentioned in ‘notification and fees’ we require a $100 credit card pre-authorization (deposit) per evening. This covers any incidentals charged to our guests’ rooms during their stays (such as parking or meals) and unused funds are released during check-out. Following this release, it may take 24 – 72 hours for the funds to become available to the customer again and this depends on the banking institution. Guests also have the option of leaving a cash or debit deposit and with this method unused funds are available as soon as the hotel releases them.

Great downtown location. Directly across from union station and free transport from city island airport. Easy and inexpensive. Bring your bathing suite . Great indoor pool. I have only stayed at this Toronto hotel a couple of times but it has always been most enjoyable. The kids and I were hoping to run into the ghost on the the 8th floor but were told he was on March break. Hopefully we will visit him another time. Our stay was a wonderful treat. Thank you.

Everything you could want in a fine hotel and much much more. There is a feeling of royalty and charm that is both preserved and updated. Dinner at Epic was top notch. The Library bar makes you feel like a movie star of days past. Wonderful from start to finish!
"Had to wait 3 hours to check in"
We usually love fairmonts across Canada but this was our first time at Toronto's fairmont. We had to wait until 6 pm to get our room! Customer service surrounding this was terrible!! Shocking and soo disappointed. We had a small child and so it was worse to wait that long :(

Only two issues - the exterior of the hotel is being restored, so the grinder tools began at 9:00am - very loud and annoying,... and the room was not finished being cleaned.
