Hotel was in a great location to us. There is plenty of restaraunts and shopping close by. Very close to the 407 and other main roads. Was dissapointed when we got to our room. We had requested a King but ended up with two double beds. We notified the main desk and was told there were no King beds available. The room was nice however there were small things that just added up to dissapointment. Asked for a late check out, were told that it would cost another 58 dollars for that. We made one local phone call, that cost 1.45! The room was clean but not great. Hair in the bathtub, dirt on the bathroom floor ect. The hotel was very busy with a confrence while we were there, however there was plenty of free parking in their parking garage.

"Nice hotel, right downtown"Reviewed by Steve of "Collingwood ON" on Jan 30, 2012
The hotel was clean enough and conveniently located right down town, near to the subway. Parking was very expensive compared to other loaclly available options (i.e. "green P").

you SHOULDN'T have two hotels with the same name in the same city!! We were very disappointed that we had to wait for the hotel bus to take us to the wrong hotel and then had to take a 40.00$ taxi to the right one.The hotel was Four Points by Sheriton but Dixie road. I happened to get Frost bite on my big toe because of all the waiting and travelling. We had just arrived back from Mexico and had no closed shoes or boots. Not fun.Th hotel itself was great but do we want the inconvience again probably not....

"great hotel , dissapointing rooms"
hotel and services were great but the room was extremely out of date and small. have stayed at several hotels in the area with much nicer and larger rooms for far less. Wont be going back again
"Cramped rooms without any sound barriers"
The rooms are tiny. The neighbours were up all night yelling and swearing and their noise kept us up all night. Then in the morning the neighbours on the other side of us were making noises we could hear EVERYTHING! Have stayed there before, and knew rooms were small, but the noise was unbearable. Bad nights sleep and not feeling rested the next day […] makes it difficult to enjoy the weekend away. Read more
We are so sorry for the noise disturbance. While the majority of our guests are quiet and considerate, our security team is always ready to assist with any noise issues our guests report. There is a button on our phones that will allow you to connect to this team quickly and easily.

The location is a bit removed from most attractions, but it is fairly central, and the posh atmosphere is enjoyable. In terms of proximity, it is a quick cab ride or drive to most places you may wish to visit (it is near the public transit system as well.) The hotel is quite comfortable, though the rooms are not particularly large. My only real complaint […] is that it was difficult to find parking on my own. I would have had the valet do it but the lineup was enormous and they weren't moving particularly quickly. Read more
"Very Accomodating"
Great hotel, treated with class, and the best pizza hut I've ever had. Upon checkout, Valet parking was 20 minutes late, but they were busy. Not the best 4 star hotel but close thanks to its great service.

"Showing its Age"
Great Location - some stand out service but it is starting to show its age and I am starting to prefer modern and sleek to old and grand. The location is outstanding and the hotel has a special place in my heart so I will return but would always recommend with that caveat
"Time for an upgrade"
For a hotel that has a perception as being prestigious, the quality of the room didn't leave me with that impression
"Fairmont Royal York Toronto"
We had an overnight stay. The room was quiet, comfortable bed, nicely updated. Check-in was quick and simple. Valet service took less than 5 minutes. The Fairmont met our expectations. We would stay there on our next trip.
"The Fairmont Royal York"
Guess we expected more from the grand old dame. Weren't thrilled with our stay. It was OK, not great. Breakfast buffet was great.
We were not aware that the hotel was under rennovations, the pool and hot tub were unavailable for use although they offered use of a pool and hot tub at near by locatins not as cnvenient as on site. Room was clear however hair dryer and tv wre broken. Staff was very courteous and repaired tv right away and replaced hair dryer. Hotel valet parking was […] expensive guess that is the cost of things in Toronto. Hotel has great access to Air Canada Centre and underground to Eaton Centre and other shopping. Read more

Up to date information is always available on our website (for pool hours please visit our guest services/spa-health club page). "Leafs take Red Wings"
Stayed at the Royal York mainly because of it's proximity to the ACC. We were in town to catch the game. the hotel is somewhat dated in areas but it was good value for the money. Parking location and getting to and from the lot leaves a bit to be desired.

"Royal York Toronto"
Located in a great part of down-town Toronto...an endless list of entertainment possibilities. The hotel was beautiful, but the room was very small! My son-15 y/o-and I were very disappointed that the fitness facility was off limits to him!!! We won't be back.
Unfortunately only guests aged 16+ are able to utilize our fitness room and we apologize for your feeling of disappointment with this policy. We value our young guests and this is strictly a precautionary measure. Patrons of all ages are welcome to use our pool, however guests under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 1 response by The Fairmont Royal York"New Years Lowers Class"
Love the hotel, always have. But room that I was given was less of a joy to the previous ones. Bathroom being the size it was was a dissapointment. A staff lounged on a side table which I passed a comment to her that it wasn't a chair. I maybe should have kept my mouth shut but after she stood up and I passed. I turned around to her sitting back on […] it. I felt the class of the hotel I was thrown out the window at that moment. I know New Years is a busy season and staff is overworked but standards still need to be met. The Fairmount Royal York should achieve them all the time. Unfortunately not this time. Read more

"Nice hotel, no water pressure"
Absolutely horrible showering experience in the room. No water pressure at all. I should have showered in the health club facilities. Besides that, decent hotel with a nice health club.

This was my first time staying at the Royal York. The hotel itself was very nice, clean and good value. My only critisizm would be the Hotel employee coming to check the mini bar after I was already checked in and in the room.

"Nightmare Before Christmas"
Booked a Deluxe Room and nothing could be further from reality. Handles hanging off the door, torn wallpaper repaired with tape, a 12 inch deep closet, dripping shower, and a tv that did not work. The response to a complaint to the front desk- have a free breakfast! They did not care and a subsequent apology and offer of a free night at such an arrogant […] hotel did not help. I suspect the reality was that the hotel was full because of Christmas parties and my wife and I were in an overflow room awaiting renovation. They hoped we would not complain and if we did, that we would accept their insincere offer of a free meal and go away. As I said in my complaint to the hotel directly, I have had better stays at motels during hockey tournaments with my son and for a lot less money. Read more
We were very sorry to learn of this reviewer’s experience. This guestroom was in no way indicative of our normal standard of quality and an alternative guestroom should have been offered. We are thankful that this reviewer voiced concern while in-house and followed up with us directly, enabling us to address the condition of this guestroom as well as our shortfall in service. We regret that our gestures of apology were not meaningful.

"Location, Location, Location...."
Contrary to popular belife the Royal York Hotel is far from old world charm. The rooms are severley dated and the plumbing tells tales from the 1920's. This hotel only has appeal because it is a hub of activity, right across from the busy bustling union station and acess to Toronto's underground city called "path" the Royal York has an advantage of […] getting guests in. They really need to start competing with some of the more updated "nicer" hotels in the area. I was pretty grossed out by the bathroom, however I only had to contend with one night I put my differences aside. Other than thoes few complaints there is nothing much else "good" or "bad" to say. Next time I will think more about my surroundings and less of the convinience when choosing a downtown hotel. Read more
"No value for money"
Deluxe room did not have microwave/kitchenette, room cold as staff left cold air on (Dec 8), heating did not appear to work well, washroom very small, bath tiny, poor view from window, no breakfast included,no parking included, all in all no value for the big dollars paid.
We are sorry to learn of your feeling of disappointment with your stay but appreciate this feedback. To clarify, microwaves and kitchenettes are not standard room features, however microwaves are available upon request ($25 fee). We will remind our housekeeping team to ensure that our in-room thermostats are always set to a comfortable temperature. Additional details: While Deluxe rooms offer addition space, some allow for better views than others. If this is a top priority, our Fairmont View rooms are south facing and offer different vantages of Union Station and Lake Ontario. Detailed information is available on our website to assist guests in selecting the right room for their unique needs.

For the price paid the hotel in our opinion was not worth the value. Our room was on the 3rd floor and our bedroom wall I swear was directly behind the Elevator shaft and the noise all night long was like sleeping on the 401. The room was small and the decor was definitely dated and in need of an overhaul. We booked through Hotels.com but if this room […] was not characteristic of the last accommodation we had booked which was also a Fairmont in Seattle where we had a spectacular room in a fabulous hotel with great service and decor. Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry that we did not exceed your expectations. Some of our guestrooms would benefit from updated décor and we are actively discussing renovation plans with our owners.

"The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto is very central"
Great old & historical Hotel. The many great things about this hotel were sadly diminished by the very frustrating experience of using The Fairmont & Fairmont-Gold Wi-Fi. It seems overly restricted and more controlled than need be. It was very finicky sending and receiving emails, as well as what could be accessed from the internet. As soon as The Fairmont […] or Fairmont-Gold Wi-Fi was disabled everything worked as expected. Gold floor rooms very small and tired. Read more
We are sorry to learn of the difficulty you encountered with Wi-Fi on Fairmont Gold. We have an in-house internet concierge who is available to personally assist our guests with any challenges and we have shared your feedback with him so that he may follow-up internally.

My sister and I have a pre holiday break in Toronto every year. This year we found a great hotels.com deal at the Fairmont Royal York and it was wonderful. The upgrade was so nice but most of the rooms here are lovely. The staff is a pleasure to work with and are there for you. The location is excellent for Toronto. We will try to stay here again as […] often as we can. Read more
"Historic Charm"
I've stayed at the Fairmont Royal York twice now, and it's been a good experience both times. The jacuzzi hot tub in the pool area is fun, the beds are comfortable and the food that we ordered for room service was delicious with generous portions. The lobby is beautiful and old fashioned which is part of the appeal. Old school charm!

"Fairmount Royal York"
Very noisy in the hallways at night. People returning to their rooms after an evening out just having a normal conversation was easily heard. Long wait to get car out of valet parking. I called 15 min. ahead of time and waited about 45 minutes for my car. I think you would have to call 1 hour ahead.
We apologize for the noise disturbance you encountered. We have a number of measures in place to help prevent this type of problem and our security team has reviewed our procedures based on your feedback. Our goal is to ensure that our guests can retrieve their vehicles within 15 – 20 minutes and we do advise that our guests call ahead for their cars. When volume is especially is high, we sometimes encounter longer than average wait times. These circumstances are rare and we strive to quote an accurate pick-up time to assist our guests in planning their departures.
