GOOD THANKS FOR EVERYTHING
Construction was inconvenient but unavoidable. Internet should be free considering the cost of room.

"Located in the heart of Toronto"
This hotel is ideally located for a bus tour or walking tour. In a very clean, safe area. The hotel is one of the oldest in this area and has a lot of character. Some of the rooms are new and the older ones have been very well maintained. Plumbing a bit noisy in the old part and the standard rooms are small. All the Fairmont Hotels in Canada are first […] class. Read more
"Fairmont Royal York Hotel"
The hospitality, reception and attention by the staff was outstanding.
Booked a king size bed, but was told that only queens are available. Room was "non-smoker", but clearly smelled cigarets. Service was really lousy, only comparable to cheap road-side motels. Room furniture were old and had definitely seen its best time. This hotel must have been a good one 50 years ago, but it seems that the owners have stopped to care. […] Had also a very noisy neighbor with loud music being played till after 2 AM. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND COMFORT ON THIS HOTEL, there are plenty of better ones to choose. Other 3-4 stars are certainly better: Hilton, Intercontinental, even Sheraton. Read more
"Great hotel,but...."
I've always wanted to stay at this hotel ever since I was a little girl. We stayed on the 7th floor next 2 two crazy people. In our original room, the air conditioning didn't work, and we were moved to another room, with air conditioning that did work. However, when we tried to go to sleep, the air conditioner squeeked all night long. Our neighbor across […] the hall must have had an OCD issue, and kept opening and closing his door for a hour and a half. (this is at 11:30 pm), or our other neighbor took it into her own hands to yell and scream at him 3 times. This carried on until 1 am. At 3 am a wedding party must have decided to come back, and you could hear them bouncing off the walls and doors they were so drunk. Needless to say, we didn't get any sleep. Thanks for the memories, but I won't be back. Read more
"royal york-close to everything"
us three girls were able to go to a concert, then to a restaurant, then to a bar. All without our feet hurting!! Everything is close by and safe. room was a little warm and wouldn't cool down. realized the next morning the window opens ;)'. for the deal we got it was great. if we were to pay full price I wouldn't do it again.
"Fairmont Royal York - Downtown Toronto"
Very close to tourist sites, excellent & courtesy staff, wifi rates are unreasonable (especially since traveling so much where many places provide at no charge).
"Fairmont Royal York in Toronto"
The location of this hotel is great.
"Fairmont Royal York- housekeeping issue"
there was half eaten food from a previous guest left under the chair in the room. Otherwise this is a grand hotel well located.
"It's where the Queen stays!"
This is the Waldorf-Astoria equivalent in Toronto. Old School luxury.
"Downtown Fairmont"
Great location - right across from Via Rail Union Station. However, everything looks old and asking for upgrade, especially considering how much I paid. Service is OK but could be greater. Food is just acceptable; nothing really fancy (I expected much more from downtown Toronto) Overal, I didn't have a very good impression.
"Fabulous hotel and service"
The hotel lobby is a piece of work that you must see whether you intend to stay or not.
"Nice but outdated"
We were really excited about staying at the Royal York. We stayed there well we got married. Got there the day before and left the day after our wedding. The beds are really comfy. Room is outdated. Needs to be updated. Room Service was excellant. The staff was very friendly. Pool was small but nice. The water was warm. Great location. Very histori […] c Read more
"Classic hotel"
The hotel, being a bit older, has smaller rooms than what you'd expect for the price, but its all very beautiful. Unfortunately, our sleep was ruined as someone had left the alarm on for 2AM. Once I've been woken up, there is no going back to sleep, so I spent the next day as a zombie.
"Very expensive for what it offers"
We would not have booked on this hotel if we had no business that would take place in this hotel. We had no choice but to stay there. For the price that we paid, we would have gotten a nicer room in a different hotel. First of all, at check-in, the receptionist took a while to assign us a room, as if looking for the worst room they could offer us. We […] were given a choice to either have a room with a queen bed (which was what we reserved) but was by a service elevator and so it would be noisy, or a room with a double bed but in a quiet part of the hotel. My husband and I chose the latter. Second, the room that was given to us was not quiet at all. We heard the slamming of the neighboring doors and were awakened by them. THird, the room carpet was really dingy. I did not bring slippers and so I wore my shoes for fear of getting fungus or something. Fourth, you have to pay extra for wifi. Fifth, you have to pay extra charges for local calls through the room phone. On the plus side, sort of, the bed sheets and the bathroom were clean - but these are standard expectations fromany hoteland we could have gotten these for less. But the hotel was nice enough to let us check-out one hour after the check-out time. LOnger than that and we would have been charged a half-day rate. Overall, stay there if you are the Queen of England. But if you book through hotels.com, then you are better off booking in another hotel. Read more

"OK, but not quite a Fairmont"
The building is marvelous - one of the city landmarks - and the location is good. Large main hall is rather unique. But beyond that, it is just a regular hotel - it could be Holiday Inn or Clarion, not quite what I expect from Fairmont. Room is small, no view from the window, stained carpet and dated wallpaper. Desk is too small for work (in a busyness […] hotel!) and there is no WiFi in rooms. Yes, you can connect your laptop to wired internet, but if you want to use any of your mobile WiFi devices, you should go to lobby. The only thing that elevates it beyond cheaper hotels is a better than average exercise center with reasonable pool and provision of bath robes in the room. Read more

"Awesome Hotel"
This is a very nice and classy hotel, we enjoyed our stay there and will definatly stay again. My wife and son and I had an amazing time, it was really nice definatly recommend this hotel jesse_564
"close to everything"
The Fairmount Is gorgeous, with a fantastic pool and exercise area. Inexpensive restaurants are several blocks away, about a 5 minute walk. Parking on site is outrageous, but there is a municipal lot one block away on University that is about half the price.
"Great location & Excellent Lobby."
Great location & Excellent Lobby. Famous & Historied Hotel. It means Notorious service & OOld room and facilities. recommended for visitors searching nostalgia.

"We'll be back!"
Awesome, oldfashioned elegance. Right around the corner from our show at the Air Canada Center. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Expect to pay for the valet parking and in room internet.
"Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto"
A beautiful old CP hotel in downtown Toronto. Close to everything. a good place for meetings, events, ,dining but the rooms need renovating. We changed rooms once as the bathroom was in such poor condition and the room we changed to wasn't much better. Prior to arriving I tried to add another name to the room and was cut off 4 times. I never did get […] anyone to help me. I wouldn't stay there again. Read more
"Royal York - Toronto"
Our room was very small, dated and not decorated very well at all. It was not at all what I had expected from a 4 star hotel. I was not impressed and the room that we stayed in was not what we expected from the pictures on the web site.
"Good hotel but charges for extras"
WIFI is expensive. A Second Cup Cafe across the street has free WIFI. Parking was a lesson in probability, the hotel does not own the parking garage so price changes when events occur. The valet was patient in his explanation of pricing and a great asset to the hotel. Only issue was the noise from hotel guest returning to their rooms from late parties […] at 1&2 in the morning. Good hotel for short stay. Read more

First class hotel in every way. Truly a classic. Great location. Staff was very professional. Definitely the place to stay in Toronto.
"Old World Charm with 21st Century Convienence."
Great Hotel ! Located in the heart of downtown and easily accessible to all locations and transportation. Underground PATH provides relief from sun and cold, and leads all the way to Eaton Centre. Highly recommended.

"Classic Hotel - great location"
Classic style hotel. Excellent service - located right near the action in downtown Toronto. A few blocks from Lake, from baseball stadium, from Convention center, shopping, etc. Good service. highly recommended.
"fairmont Royal York Toronto"
attended a conference at convention center. easy walk to center, hockey hall of game and to Rogers Center (Blue jays). many restaurants in walking distance. Waterfront also an easy 2 block walk. The hotel is older very small closet but that would be hard to remedy. Room was spacious. New carpeting would have freshened the appearance in the hallways/ […] lobby. Read more

"Fairmont Royal York"
Is a HUGE hotel with a lot of rooms so be prepared for hustle and bustle. Close to where we expected to be. Rooms are small like NYC - noisy due to room service and cleaning crew.

"Great hotel"
This is an excellent hotel in every aspect. I would recommend to others and would stay here again. Very convenient location as you can access trains, street cars and buses without going out side as there is an underground tunnel to Union Station across the street.
"Tired"
This hotel is just plain tired. Insufficient lighting in rooms with a dark decor. One lamp didn't even work. It's tough to work in a hotel room without sufficient light. Lamps are also of a design that makes them cumbersome to turn on/off. It's time for an update people!
"Royal york a fading gem"
Lobby and mezzenine are grand The the rest of the hotel is fading fast. The furniture in my room was past its useful life if i owned the couch it would have been at the goodwill a year earlier. They have no internet in rooms where roaming charges strike fear in the hearts of travellers equal to highway robbery of the past its so ridiculous. 13 bucks […] for each day in the lobby for wireless and you have to ask for it their inroom service brochures are poor. Great location and food but they need to catch up wireless is not that hard! Read more
"The Fairmount Royal York Hotel"
The Fairmont is like staying in a musuem, you can tell it is very old and has alot of history, but they have done a very good jod maintianing this historical property. It is in the prime location in Toronto, center of the city, across the street from the subway station, which has underground acccess. We went to Toronto to see a concert and the venue […] was just a block away! The staff was very helpful and polite, the rooms were comfy and clean. We would definitly return! Read more

"Fabulous Hotel"
This is an old fashioned 4 Diamond hotel that is visited by the Queen Of England. It is simply beautiful. Everything is in the hotel: restaurants, shopping, etc. You can have High Tea or go for a swim in their indoor pool. It is convenient to everything.
