The service was exemplary. The Gold Concierge service was some of the best that I have experienced. The only minor draw back was that the rooms are very small, which is very normal in hotels of this era. Contrary to other comments that I have read, parking on the street is available and so valet parking is not a necessity.

We stayed for 2 nights. The extra money for the parking was a bit overboard (25$/day) for Hotel guests. The rooms were not huge, but very well kept. We had some problems with noisy people roaming the halls. I would expect a Hotel like this to have more soundproofing from that sort of disturbance.

The Banff Springs is a destination in itself. It is not a hotel one chooses for value. That said, however, I could never imagine paying full price. While there are gold level rooms, and view rooms, all rooms, even the least expensive, have gorgeous views. If you plan to visit the parks, save the money and get a Fairmont level room. The service at every level is impeccable, the restaurants are pricey but excellent. Join the President's Club in advance for the free internet and other frills, such as priority checkin/out. Its possible to avoid the parking fee by parking on the street.

We never would have been able to stay here with out a lucky find of a deal. Grateful to stay in such a beautiful and memorable place for our honeymoon. We received an unexpected bottle of champagne to help us celebrate. We took the fascinating free tour of it's extensive history. Strolled along the Bow River and it's waterfall leading us back to the hotel from town. Gorgeous! We had a rental car..beware of the approx. $30.00 p/day to park valet/$25.00 to self -park, when free parking is available in 4 hour increments on the street out front, and all night between 9PM and 8 AM. The staff, while terrific and more than helpful, must be instructed not to encourage "free parking" as they won't directly answer "free parking availability questions, and speak of the "risk"..which would be no different than if they parked for you.. Which also rang true at the Chateau Lake Louise Fairmont, which a short walk away, also offers free public parking. but overall, hope to go back!

My wife and I found the hotel staff to be very helpful, friendly and polite. Thanks to hotels.com the price we paid for the room was VERY reasonable. Apart from this, the hotel is quite expensive. For example, a breakfast of scrambled eggs, 1 link of turkey sausage, oatmeal and 2 coffees was $28 CDN (about $26 USD right now). Dinner for 2 was usually over $120.00 before tips. Not that I'm complaining, the restaurants were top notch and well worth it. The Willow Stream Spa was out of this world. We spent an entire day being pampered. In summary, this hotel is top notch with spectacular views and great dining. Just be prepared because this type of experience does not come cheaply even though you may get a GREAT deal on the room.

Being from Phoenix, I felt right at home as our room was kept at 105 degrees in May with no way to cool it down (other than a small magic window that kept all the cool air out but yet allowed all the bus fumes and noise in). This made the room unbearable & was awake half the night, sweating. Aside from that, the grounds are really nice; the restaurants are pretty good, although much more expensive than they should be; and the people were all helpful and friendly - well, most of them. The $25/day parking is absurd. There is free street parking just down the hill. This isn't a deal-breaker for staying at the hotel, but it is kind of offensive to charge that much for self-parking. In general, the draw of this place is in the grounds/shops/restaurants, not the guest rooms: rooms are clean, comfy (except for the extreme high temperatures), but small and nondescript. Unless you have a great price or a real need to say you stayed at the Banff Springs hotel, it would probably be sufficient to tour the hotel, maybe have dinner at one of the restaurants, and spend the night somewhere else. If your room is facing the street, be prepared for beeping-backingup-buses at 6 a.m. pumping fumes and making lots of noise each morning. Again, you'll probably already be awake because the rooms are so darn hot. And finally, the tipping policy is really odd. They aren't eager to tell you that when you check out, you may be billed for maid/valet/bellboy tips. Make sure you find out the tipping situation when you check in.

The shopping within the hotel was absolutely gorgeous as was every area we checked out. We looked into what appeared to be ballrooms and they were truly elegant. It's nickname of "the casltle in the Rockies" couldn't be more appropriate. I was counting on eating in the Waldhaus Pub but it was closed the night we were going there, my only disappointment with our stay. We switched over to the Rundle Lounge which was beautiful. We saw Elk and a timber wolf on the property, which was very exciting. Wish we could have stayed much longer. Can't wait to go back!

You can easily see, that the Banff Springs isn't a cheap hotel, but you couldn't know, that it's that expensive at the end, because you've got to pay for lots of things, which are included in other less expensive hotels. Like the Fitness romm, or Internet (!!!), all extra. I expect such things to be inclusive in a hotel like the Fairmont, but at least the quality of everything was on a high level and luxus never was for free.

There were only a few things I was not pleased with. For one, the tub in our room needed to be regrouted. There was a tiny bit of mildew in the corners. Also, I noticed that the wood work needs a fresh coat of paint in the hallways. Other than that everything was perfect. Also, we stayed in 3 different hotels in Banff and the Fairmont is the only one to charge a daily parking fee of $25.00 (for self park!!) plus tax daily. That is ridiculous!!! They nickle and dime you to death - charge for exercise room, etc. You can certainly stay in another, just as nice hotel, for less than half the price with amenities that are included.

The Fairmnont Banff Springs is a beautiful hotel. The view is spectacular and breathtaking. My husband and I stayed for for 4 days and 3 nights and we couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate our annniversary. The staff was courteous, professional and friendly. The service was excellent from the time we checked in to the time we checked out. We were on the Fairmont Gold floor and had our own Concierge. There is a Breakfast room on the same floor, exclusively for the Fairmont Gold guests and Hors Dourves were served from 5-7pm daily. We also went for the Sunday brunch and the food was excellent. Our room had the view of Sulphur Mountain and we can see the Rimrock Hotel and Gondola from our bedroom window. The room is nice with a flat screen tv, and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small. To make up for the small space, they installed Kohler Body Sprays in the stand up shower. It was actually relaxing to use after a long day of walking. The only thing that we think needs improvement is the air vent. It produces a whistling sound which can be annoying at times. Overall, it was a great stay and we will definitely go back to this hotel again when in Banff. I will definitely recommmend it to family and friends.

Room was very clean, extra bed for my daughter arrived efficiently. The room was cleaned and tidied when we were out. Room was adequately sized for 3 and was supposedly an upgrade to "deluxe". Huge TV but difficult to change between channels with the remote. We were amazed to be charged $25 a night for parking even when we had "self-parked" - almost the only place in 3 weeks in Canada where we had to pay to park. Worse, had we not been staying it appears we would only have to pay $24 a night. The bill also stated that "you have not declined a free paper, had you done so you would have qualified for a rebate". I received neither a free paper or a rebate. Outdoor pool was very nice, water a bit chlorinated as per other reviews. Room was very quiet (we were in the Stanley Thompson wing). Quite fun for a short stay, exploring all the multiple routes between our room and the lobby/car park/pool. We didn't eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food.
