"Great hotel for weekend getaway"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
This hotel is great for family with kids. My kids had so much fun in the three story waterslide and their breakfast had so many varities. Planning go to banff every year and stay in the hotel to end our trip.

"Great price and location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 4, 2013
Very nice resort, enjoyed our brief stay; unit had coffee stains on wall near table but besides that was quite clean; great mountain views outside our front door; there was some confusion about the length of our stay as we had booked only one night as our email confirmation showed but resort had us down for 2 nights; great to have a refrigerator but having a microwave and a few plates, bowls, knives would have been nicetoo.
"Solid Hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 26, 2013
Had the split room model, which worked out very well for 2 men on a ski trip. The hot tub was great. Staff was very nice. Bit noisy, could hear kids crying in the other room and the train at night. Of course every hotel in Banff that faces the tracks can hear the train at night when the whistle blows.
"Excellent place to stay"
There were only two complaints: 1. The service and food at the Bow Grill was pathetic. They burned my child's pizza and did not cook my wife's steak to order. They did replace these and provide credit but it took a long time to get the replaced food and we had lost our appetitie waiting for it. 2. "Miss it already!"
We had a beautiful view of the mountains and river from our room. Everyone on staff was so friendly and helpful. We were especially appreciative of robert the concierge who helped us out so much while we were there. He was very knowledgable and kind. We hated to leave and can't wait to go back. The food was also very good. We ate at the Italian restaurant […] and everything tasted so fresh. The spa, oh that wonderful spa! We took full advantage of it on our arrival and it really relaxed us. I felt like myself again. All the stress was gone afterwards. I was surprised that it was #7 on Tripadvisor. I'm glad that I took Fodor's recommendation and not Tripadvisor's. "Not impressed with the Fairmont Banff Springs"
This hotel looked fantastic from the outside, but the rooms were dated to the 80's. The lounge service was horrific as it took 30-45 minutes to be served a drink. The televisions in the room were 19" and very blurry. Not the expectation you would think from a place that is supposed to have real class.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Fairmont Banff Springs Thank you for your review. We value your feedback and have shared it with our leadership team. We are working to renovate all guestrooms on a rotating schedule, and do have one floor currently undergoing same. This includes flat screen tvs, which will all be updated by April. I am very sorry to hear about your lounge service, and this is an area we can impact right away, and will endevour to do so.
"Dysfunctional staff = dissatisfied customers"
We were shocked by the low level of service at this hotel. We could have gotten over the meagerness of the updates, but the fact that we had to call multiple times for any housekeeping service revealed the lack of organization and dedication at the hotel. First, we were told there were no more bathrobes, and no one ever considered following up on our […] comfort. We also had to call to have our sheets changed, even though they had delivered our room service breakfast on a tray to our bed, where crumbs had naturally fallen. When we went to indicate which bed needed to be changed, we found a note from a previous guest, begging, "CHANGE THIS BED, PLEASE!!!" The staff had never changed out the literature in the room, so that previous guest's complaint card was still there, as well as his or her breakfast menu, all filled out and ready to go. Then, the housekeeping staff never replenished our coffee, even though we called and were assured that they would eventually come. Next, I called for toothpaste because I could not find mine, and no one ever brought any to our room - that went on overnight, so I could not brush my teeth! The hotel restaurants and bars are outrageously expensive, and they seem to pride themselves on exclusivity. If you don't have a reservation, they will not seat you, even if there are open tables. I suggest persistence if you find yourself in this position, because someone will finally give you a seat. It worked on two different occasions for us. Finally, the hotel and the ski shuttle were not in communication about the changing schedules, and we were left to wait in -25 degree weather, wondering when and if the bus would eventually come. The hotel took no responsibility for the snafu, and in fact, they loudly tried to deflect the blame onto the shuttle company. The hotel's job is to serve as a liaison between the guests and the services, because we cannot possibly know the details of a service so far removed from our daily lives. "Great staff and convenient for Skiers, but I'd take a small lodge anyday"
Impressive structure of an old castle, lovely staff and convenient set up for skiers to the Big 3. But it ends there. Takeaway the heritage and its another big inconvenient hotel that is cold, inconvenient and impersonal. You park a distance away, take lifts, wait to pick up your family in the driveway, rooms are small and everything is a hassle. When […] you compare it to the other small lodges we stayed in: personal service, park in front of your room, get in and get out fast. Bed sheets and overall quality of rooms left a lot to be desired. Worse, we checked in with our 3 kids and we had two separate rooms 5 doors apart - increasing the inconvenience. Saving grace was that some of the staff are wonderful and make up for the inconvenience. Plus the buses to the Big 3 stop first here and they connect you from lobby to ski storage to bus in unparalleled ease and comfort. But overall it is overrated. Even in terms of luxury, when I compare it to a standard 5 star hotel in Asia, its at best a 4 star. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This is a world class hotel in a beautiful setting and with great service. This hotel is worth a vist even if you are not a guest of the hotel. It is especially beautiful at Christmas. "A place to go for an anniversary"
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at this hotel. We were very pleased with the room, location, size, and overall comfort. The restaurants were outstanding with regards to both quality of service and food. We prefer this hotel over Chateau Lake Louise with regards to service and food. Beauty at Chateau Lake Louise is better.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Banff Springs"
Beautiful Hotel and great restaurants. The indoor pool was antiquated and swampy, and if I had paid any more for the tiny room with a queen size bed I would not have been satisfied. Views from hotel magnificent. Exorbitant charge to use the spa.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Beautiful Giant"
This hotel is a city unto itself. Everything was handled well. Especially we appreciated the concierge service which checked us in for our flight when we left and printed boarding passes. Concierge service was top notch & spot on. We had the buffet in the Bow Valley Grille one day and the waitress tried to force us to charge the meal to our room (which […] we never do) in order to gain a larger tip. Also, they charge guests $25.00 per night to park your car, even though there is ample parking room. That was the only complaint we had. However, be forwarned- this is a huge, impersonal hotel, tons of tourists and several weddings going on there which roped off certain areas of the property at times. If you are looking for a personal, charming place to stay, this is not it. It is a nice walk from town but was not a problem for us. Staying here is a special experience which you will enjoy at least once. The interior is as amazing as the outside. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Worth the cost"
Lots of places to stay in Banff, and this is one of the pricier options. But, it well worth the expense. Fairly easy to get to and from town, especially using the bus system. Lots of eating options in town -- although the food at the hotel is quite good. Pool is a bit of a hassle to use -- sign in process and change room. The site and the property are […] fantastic.
