The hotel was good and the staff were excellent, very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The only disadvantage was that the hotel was a long way from the main area of the town and we had to take a bus or taxi but the cost of the room and the hotel itself offset this.

The biggest downside is you aren't close to any restaurants except the carvery next door which was quite poor. We could drive to our sight seeing locations quite easily. We were traveling with someone who had limited mobility and we were on the second floor with no elevator so that was a bit difficult. Staff was quite accomodating.

The room is large, bed is small, car park is free and breakfast is good. Location is OK, especially if you have a car :)

Very convenient for a quick exit to the moors. The hotel is not so close yet not so far from the central attractions of York but parking there is expensive. Probably better just to grab a bus. The center bustle dies out in the evening, parking then is free since just a few restaurants are open and nothing else is really. Yet the walk around York center […] is always wonderful. Great staff in a well maintained holiday inn express format. Shame they can't change the standard breakfast offering which should be described as "included" not "complimentary". Good location for travel not ideal if just visiting the city.

I cannot really fault it - perfect welcome, perfect service, perfect cleanliness, perfect comfort and above all a perfect breakfast! The only minor fault is that the charge for wi-fi is rather hefty.

We had an excellent overnight stay. The young lady on reception was very welcoming and efficient. I am not a big fan of Carvery style restaurants but the Toby Inn meal was very nice, although it was extremely busy and the staff excellent. I would recommend this Hotel which is only a couple of miles from the centre of York.

Pleasant hotel and very friendly staff. Hotel is situated a short taxi journey (£8) outside the city centre. Only negative about the hotel is that they dont have bacon at breakfast!!

The hotel looks run down from the outside as also does the Toby pub next door, but we found both really clean inside. Food at the Toby was lovely and the hotel room was clean, quiet and spacious! Only thing that was a bit of a pain was waiting for seats in the hotel for breakfast, very busy and had about 20 min wait each morning!

Hotel was good only 5-10min drive to town center. Staff was very friendly. Overall I would strongly recommend this hotel if you have a car and dont want to pay crazy parking charges by other hotels in town. Hotel is very close to park &ride.

Value for money hotel with friendly helpful staff. Newly refurbuished so the rooms were of a good stantard, clean and comfortable. Small restaurant area so breakfast can be very busy in the week but weekends easier as it's served until 11. The room was beautiful and spotless and the staff extremely friendly and helpful, the only problem was that the bed was very uncomfortable and I did not sleep well as the springs in the mattress were digging into my back. It spoilt what would have otherwise been a perfect stay and is the reason I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

This hotel was extremely neat and tidy and perfect for a stop over near York. The centre is about a 10 minute drive away and easily accessible by bus if needs be. Room was warm and well equipped (as per budget hotels); clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly. Good quality 'free' hot and cold breakfast and a little bar for those that want to take a […] drink to their room. The only downside I could find was the lack of a lift! I was on the first floor with a heavy case and it was a bit of a pain :-( The check-in staff offered to carry it up for me which was great, but I had to lug it down for check-out myself. Stayed here for 2 days between christmas and new year. The hotel has just undertaken some refurbisments and its lovely. The staff were really friendly and very helpfull. Would definatley stay here again.

Hotel itself was fine being close to park and ride made getting into York quite easy. Breakfast was disappointing, I cant understand why they dont provide all cooked breakfast ingredients. They are able to provide scrambled eggs, sausage and beans but NOT bacon, tomatoes etc

The hotel is fine, it is a little way out, but close to Park and Ride. The breakfast was OK, but there wasn't a lot of choice, no bacon and the eggs were a bit dry. The most disappointing part was having to spend £10 to have Internet access that only worked on one device.

although we arrived ahead of check in time, the receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Our room was ready within 10 mins after a welcome complimentary hot drink. some redecoration was going on in the stairs area but this caused us no problems and the work was finished before tea time. Clean and acceptable.
